Its implied that it happens to him many times over the years. If those violent criminals can corner him and beat him everyday, what's to stop them from going further again? They only show it once bc its very triggering and distasteful to overdo that type of scene. They did it just that once so we could get the point.

There's def a possibility that she's not involved. Seeing how many resources they had to frame him, I wouldnt be surprised if they stalked him, saw he had a girl stay over, and just planted someone out front ready to break in and steal the bedsheets if they had to.

I honestly like it. It feels like a late 2000's/early 2010s underrated hidden gem. The plot is all over the place but its refreshing to see some new themes and some boundaries pushed. At least it wasnt a boring copy paste cookie cutter drama like whats been popular in the last couple years.

Be careful bc this kind of talk can be kind of offensive especially if he is not mixed. Finding someone handsome and unique looking and insisting it must be because they are mixed, even after being told they arent, can be rude. Not saying you are wrong or that you mean it negatively, but just letting you know this is a thing that can be offensive.

Gambling? Really? I notice China and Korea are often more judgmental about crimes that are more self-harming than anything. Meanwhile it takes years for those who hurt others to go down. Why are the lightest crimes taken serious and the heavy crimes overlooked? ATP im just like, go hollywood with it and let everything slide... if the real criminals are getting off, might as well not take out the great actors who are only harming themselves.

It has little to do with cancel culture. SJK still has a strong base and even a lot of his haters secretly watched his better dramas like Vincenzo. The problem is that these dramas aren't good enough. Great actors cant always save boring plots.... actually its not even the plots, the premises are good, its the storywriting. They start off so dry no one can stay invested for when it finally gets good or its the opposite. Starting off great and getting super boring by episode 5 or 6,

I just find it funny bc ppl usually complain that this actress is unattractive when she gets casted, but suddenly she's getting flack for heavily resembling one of the most beautiful k-actresses of all time... I know she's tired. Hate on Song Joong ki by all means, but please leave this woman out of it.

As someone who watched that show as it aired...You're rewriting history... Post 2010, Ppl always complain over age gaps. They complained even more over Prime Minister and I bc the ML wasnt considered to be that attractive, on top of being older, on top of being paired with a visual icon like Yoona.

I think with this one ppl are looking for any excuse to complain over this bc the ML actor had some wild allegations against him.

These stories are not glamorizing what we deem to be true today, its a fictional story based on "what if he wasnt actually that crazy/inept?" We arent quite there yet in this drama but like many of these fictional stories that glamorize tyrants or inept leaders of the past... I'm assuming that we will see that this version of Yeonsangun is just pretending to be mindlessly violent/incompetent and the events that we know about him will probably happen in a different way in the drama. This is not romanticizing the real figure of Yeonsangun as we know him. There are a few historical dramas that truly romanticize cruel figures and what they did... Like Six Flying Dragons did this the ML was a villain even to himself but the story made you empathize with him. But based on what I watched so far, this drama seems to be taking the "what if" route.

So as long as they don't royally overcomplicate the plot... this has Kdrama classic potential. It's very 2010's vibes and the casting of Yoona makes it feel even more so. She knows that cliche-corny vibe from the late 2000's and early 2010's really well because it's how she started her career. And now she has better skills to pull it off as a real actress. People may complain at how cliche it is, but it is solid. I recently stopped watching kdramas bc they were getting so overly serious and boring.
