Seems like it gets better in ep 2

Hahahaha, so many ppl in the audience are duped... this is not a real kdrama.. it is Hollywood witih Asian actors... This drama has NO elements of a real genuine kdrama :)

IN ONE SENTENCE: THIS DRAMA HAS SOME GOOD ACTING, SOME NICE CONEMTOGTRAPHY, AND

A BIG **** STEAMING **** PILE OF SCRIPT :)
I am quoting a review from Dramabeans.

FL and Hiro are excellent actors and I hope they are famous now and can pick good scripts. Filming is confusing with time jumps, so ... toxic.... . ML sucks as a character and actor. ML and FL are both wealthy and entitled and the entire drama is just a power struggle of two egoistical ppl who do not communicate.... The MONEY is a key....

Most importantly, there is no open honest communication, sharing, redemption arcs, warmth, lightess, humor, compassion, collaboration and moving forward, it is all in isolation and ... promiscuity, FL kisses 2ML which is a total no-no and seems like everyone sleeps around. It is a bunch of isolated young ppl doing egoistical things. Very western :)

I GAVE YOU INORMATION SO DO WITH IT WHATEVER YOU WANT.
Do not reply to me unless you have a specific question because you genuinely want to ask a question about specifically what I posted.
I do not have the time to babysit this audience, so do not dare reply to this to criticize. I do not reply.

I am just informing you so that you know there is real stuff out there and you are watching a fake here. The fake is still better than Hollywood but not really.

Also, I am informing you that this drop of all episodes to binge watch destroys native Korean dramas, and a lot more. Get educated. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p1_j6izmEX4 is a good reference to start.

you watched a wrong thing... Dynamite Kiss is trash There are so many great rom coms in kdramas... ! Idol I is…
This reply is a lot longer than I wanted so if you read it all, thank you for your patience LOL

Yeah this drama shows issues with alcoholism in S Korea, 14th in the world. There is romantic drama SECOND SHOT OF LOVE that talks about a female alcoholic and her family finally quitting. it is not heavy hollywood style but is rather light and tries to be comical when possible but it certainly addresses the entire process of healing from alcoholism

in this drama, FL quit instantly when she learnd she was pregnant. So she is not really an alcoholic.
THe issue is the beer company so the drama will have alcohol..
if they manage to keep it 1 beer with dinner, then it is worth watching bc it has amazing converstions, open and honest and the plot moves forward fast.

Koreans have th warmth and lightess and humor and compassion that cdramas just do not have. Their heavy lifestyle prevents it seems like. Koreans go to karaoke bars and throw out their bad governments and are used to being collaborative, productive, creative and free..... :)

===============
Yeah Dynamite Kiss was evil, it sent really wrong obsolete messages of "overbearing CEO doing sexual harassment at work and a trepid weak slimey liar running away" and it was "interesting" bc of too many TMI skinkship scenes, which was super trashy too...... and then, the drama made up for lack of content by using every trope existing... but anyways, FORGET IT.

OTHER KDRAMAS DO NOT USE SUCH TROPES, those I listed are not trope ridden at all.

FYI Can this Love be Translated is a fake kdrama, it is Hollywood with asian actors... It has great acting, ok filming, and a STEAMING pile of script.... After ep 4. that drama totally tanks. It is trash. It does NOT have elements of a proper kdrama, which is ... warmth, sharing, communication, redemption arc, collaboration, joy, etc... It is all in isolation, miscimmunication, but they got money, then sleeping around, FL kisses 2ML, etc etc etc .. Has NOTHING to do with kdramas. FL is a great actress and Hiro is an amazing actor and that's it.

=====
yeah you are right, Koreans need to get rid of alcohol as personal therapy and stuff needed for honest communication. This drama definitely went overboard with that.

HOWEVER, this drama has good communication. They actually openly communicate, honestly. THAT is very precious. Hopefully the drama will keep on going in that direction. Bc of that open communication, the plot is moving forward very fast and it will be interesting.

Unfortunately thy work for a beer company so I am not sure how THAT will be solved... 1 beer with dinner is fine, but more ... and often.. .is NOT... and S Korea has serious drinking problems, it is like 14th most drunk culture in the entire world... which is very shameful and self destructive... I wish them to find better ways... their karaoke bars, their dramas and dance.... their running, etc... they got it all.. they SHOULD be able to get lost in athletics and good living and really be happy. They got all the ingredients to do so.

i think this drama addresses the S Korea with the lowest birth rate globally and is trying to give the message - hey, relax, and just follow your heart and your hormones, and do it, and enjoy yourself and your happy life.

So I dont know what to say about this drama. I got intrigued when I realized they DO communicate. I want to watch firther.

I am sure that the others I mentioned above are exemplary. To my Belowed Thief, although it is historical, has AMAZING dialogues and really gender equality and open communication, it is a pioneering work, globally. This drama is in that direction too, their communications are honest and open. Idol I too..... And belive it or not, also No Tail to Tell :)
Incognito Miss Hong has fun acting and let us see about communication...LOL

Love Me is so heavy and toxic bc they do not communicate... they are cowards LOL
Spring Fever right now has major abuse, as the snotty chaebol disses the low class redneck... but... that drama too has some really warm and deep notes and I hope THOSE prevail soon... ..... like ML/FL being doggy parents... Moving in that direction soon bc only would make is AMAZING drama. That drama has very kind undertone and overtone :) It is just there....

-====
As for cdramas, when Chinese make something special, it is WOW! nobody else goes that deep, bc suffering makes Chinese go deep. One of my fav ever movies is Xuan Zhang, 2016 movie about a Buddhist monk walking to India to get Buddhist texts. Stephen Chow movies from Hong Kong are all crazy fun but super deep. Also, k-c colab drama Making Family is really cute. Other than that ... I found nothing I liked there. I tried :) I saw Bond and it is a remarkable drama but it is about survival. There is NO humor at all..... Chinese do not have th chance to deal with finer things in life, seems like. It is just too oppressive and dreary and it shows in their dramas.

I am not sure where Koreans find their strength, but those karaoke bars are a critical component they are used to being creative and free to express themselves. Those karaoke bars are the best therapy, well minus the alcohol LOL I have never been to S Korea but I found a dance studio there that totally flored me, this is some of the bst dancing I have ever seen, and I am a dancer, they are such excellent dancers. And musicians too.

Ep 1 is trying to look like a very old kdrama... like .... You are My Destiny... BUT NOT :)
it is NOT fashionable to drink that much anymore :) I would NOT watch a beer drama....
The cheesy plot and chpppy filming are not it anymore either :)

BUT THEN she stops drinking instantly when pregnant, and the dude moves on to date and get married, and they all openly talk about what is happening.. with anything. So the drama caught my attention. .

And then he was responsible. The woman has to go through her own trauma first and heal it. And the issue of bad parents, both mother and father. And the issue of 'friend" who took it for granted for too long and lost his chance.

At the start , I really disliked this drama. Alcohol? cemented heart? Heck no.
BUT THEN ... I finally understood what they are trying to say. I rememered the traumatic dramas like ... Surely Tomorrow, Can this love be Tnanslated, etc... WHERE YOU HAVE 12-100 PISODES O FTHE COUPLES EGOTISM AND PRIDE CLASHING ... and they are not together, not having kids, etc.

the message is simple - if you like each other, just enjoy yourself and trust your heart. Do not drag it needlessly and dont be egotistical selfish. Just LIVE
The dude understood instantly, since he was able to sleep without any pills. He understood marriage... he is smart :)

Their communication is great.

I wish that ML was a little less of a robot... hopefully he learns to act - even now, as a cemented character, he should be a little more animated.

But overall, I am gonna monitor this drama as it is really nailing down the S Korea's low birth rate in many ways.

And I hope they do not need alcohol to solve the problem :)

There are many lessons in this. If the beer is kept low ... and they keep communicating... I will watch this. I the beer is too much, I might just drop in to check.

No Tail to Tell is like that too :) another great actress
Just found another great comedy - Ingontito Ms. Hong.
I am not sure if you gonna like Idol I - not a comedy but a great love story /thriller with great acting and real issues;
Spring Fever - very light family redneck rom com, very warm and positive
and The Judge Returns - Ji Seung as a rogue judge - comedy thriller

I just started episode 5, but I came looking, if someone commented on the chosen fashion style for him in this…
Ah are you a fellow fashionista?
What made you look for his style?
Are you into fashion, or Ji Seuk?
you can open a discussion for the fashion :) I will be glad to contribute.

In this drama, they picked PERFECT colors for Ji Seok and also a perfect fashion and hair and how they picked the ties and shirts and coats was wow! it blends with his colors perfectly... For some reason his hair and eyes and lighter and on the brown side...

ALso, his clothes coloring is brand new - I have never seen a green shirt before, green pants, etc. Green shirt and burgundy tie in a kdrama is new, at least to me... Bright blue and neon green too...

The very-black-hair main bad chif justice guy (Kang Shin Jin? I am so bad with names) also looks stunning in that light gray suit. I forgot what shirt he was wearing but somehow it did not matter, that kinda sporthy looking but still very business kinda peppered white-gray rough fabric (like very rough raw silk fabric) just made him stand out, it was almost shining next to his black hair and attracting attention to him.

The blue-green trend is out now. Check ep 1 start of Can this love be trnslated to see those bright blue-neon green combos

A drama with the best ML dramatic elegant luxury high-end biz fashion was Park Seo Joon in What's Wrong with Secretary Kim - the combo of shirts and ties was something I have never seen done so well ever since. My jaw kept dropping - it was combining dots and stripes, bright burgundy silk and black, blues, white, silver, ... ... it was always WOW how did they even think of all those patterns combos and colors!!! Every time he got on the screen in a suit, he was the best dressed ever and looked he came off some top Italian luxury magazine or something... wow. I saw Italian bc the most beautiful fashions I have ever seen everywhere are in Italy, they have knack, everything from cheep clothes to high end is just wow.
And then there are those whose clothes I did not even notice bc they are wearing their EYES. Like the current Idol I ML, the only thing that he is "dressed in" is his piercing active intelligent clear focused expressive eyes, that's the only thing to notice. To think of it, his fashion is also pretty good, comfortable and trendy, but ... the only memorable thing is his eyes. As long as his hair is out of his eyes, he is memorable.
Oh my pet peeve - I cannot stand haistyles where hair goes over eyes. We need to see the eyes.
Back to male biz fashion:
ML in Woman WHo Swallowed the Sun is also very simple but unusual and elegant "Los Angeles rich and sporty" look in color combos that are very unusual, and Oldest Brother has some really rad latest fashions that mimic traditional korean clothes.. THe Lawyer is worst dressed man in all kdramas I have ever seen LOL orange tie on a brown suit etc... LOL but he is a great villain... Hm it is either him or ML the villain in QUen's house in his muddy purple suit with black tie and black shirt LOL Gosh that was one of th ugliest fashion I have ever seen.
and Doctor in Queen's House also has amazing shirt-tie-coat combos... That will be towards the end, when he goes to work in the office with his uncle, wearing coat, shirt tie.
Oh and the rich father of young lady in ALl About my mother - he has pepper and salt short hair and they picked him perfect shades of blue to match.
And Yoon Park in navy blue and beige casual variations in Eagle Brothers, goes perfect with silver shine in very dark black hair

As for ladies fashion, the most flashy WOW is Gong Nan Suk loan shark mama in A Graceful liar. She is da bomb...... She was in that super popular old drama First Love and it shows, she is super catchy... I watch Graceful Liar just for her... In Graceful Liar, she started with super gaudy cheesy fashion, heavy jewelry, and amazing dark lipstick the same color as her hair - that was amazing!, then they toned her slighty but still left her quite flashy with flashy jewelry, .... I loved her miltiple strand pearls with large gems... her tight black dress with red accents and lace... and then .... Lately they toned her fashion down to "sophisticated mewow" with simple pearls and fur wraps and the lipstic to "slightly pink brown shade" but she is still wow fashion kitten. Her smokey makeup and dangling earings and hair died bronze with the matching lipstic are also quite something. She is dressed as if from a small eclectic boutique and everything screams I M FEMME FATALE ... meow NOTICE ME AND I WILL EAT YOU UP roarrrrrr
Also mother of ML in Queen's House is ... flamboyant LOL
and the ML's mom in KBS recent weekender 3 Bold Siblings - super elegant towards traditional austere asian/korean look

If you are a fashionista, let me know if you saw something amazing :)

Huh? I don't understand how that has anything to do with this drama....
Kdramas often show female characters and even male - on a diet, eating a salad for lunch, counting calories and having to have 10% body fat

And them you see those actresses in mini skirts and their thin legs are like skeleton legs clunking around

So it is a lot of pressure for actresses (and actors) to LOOK LIKE THAT, and then the general population also strives to look like that.

I want us to help free Korean women and all models everywhere and help them EAT AND BE HAPPY :)

I want everyone to be themselves and not try to look like size 2.

Remember Merylin Monroe? According to kdrama standards, she is a FAT PIG. But ... she is incredibly sexy. And healthy. SHE is the one turning heads everywhere.

There are other woman of even larger sizes that look good and healthy on them, like... Serena Williams, the tennis player.

And super athletic strong women with energy... Think Tina Turner...

They are all super sexy. AND THEIR SIZES SHOULD BE ALLOWED. ALL HEALTHY SIZES SHOULD BE ALLOWED!!!

**** And this drama is in that direction. Those office worker women in ep 1 have WOW!!! shapes and look just stunning. **** I have noticed nicer bodies in a few other recent dramas globally distributed. I think that is a positive development.

It's all about that base ... LOL the hourglass shape, in whatever size it is.. . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7PCkvCPvDXk

And just for fun, there is the rebellion movement in Korea itself - this is the guy who played OTS for Shin's Project, this is song I AM FAT AND HAPPY. i am not endorsing his concept of fat and just sitting around eating meat bc he is ... overweight.. but ... I am endorsing the concept of BE YOURSELF AND MAKE SURE TO EAT PROPERLY

Huh? I don't understand how that has anything to do with this drama....
Well it would help if you read,,,, . I was mentioning IN THE FIRST PARAGRAPH OF THE POST the scene in ep 1, a bunch of women walking on the street, the "leader" in white dress with black dots - do you recall that scene? AND I SAID they are all super gorgeously shaped, and are far from skeletons AND THAT IS GREAT bc that provides a good role model for what women look like.
When you put skeleton women into a drama, that gives a message that skeleton women are "cool" and encourages the audience to also be skeletons to be "cool" and also puts pressure on all actresses to be skeletons. AND THAT IS UNHEALTHY

I do not get this script writer... Ok sure the drama has to start by some major mess, that is understood... but ... to make the mess soooo easy and obvious was ..... lazy !!! This drama promises to be rather fun and also has some thriller, so ... will the script writer continue with lazy or what?

So ... this experienced pitbull in high position SAW that her colleague was involved in bribery, still let him stay on in a high position, let the whole team stay on, spoke secret things in loud voice in the office.. ... the Mighty CEO spoke freely in front of employees... when they met, they stayed outside visible in the light... EVEN AFTER CEO CONFIRMED TO HER THAT THERE IS A RAT.....

Even a small kid these days knows not to do that.. So... will this script writer continue to be this lazy for all following episodes? Then there is no point in having this drama...

One good thing is that the global audience is NOT for super skeleton-skinny Korean actresses (and actors) - so finally we get to see some really good looking healthy women, like those ladies at the start of ep 1 ... Wow!!! They have stunningly gorgeous bodies. That lady in the white dress with black polka dots is a stunning beauty, and all her friends, they got GORGEOUS figures. Finally we get to see real women in kdramas!

SKELETON WOMEN ARE THOSE WHO EAT SALADS AND DIET AND KEEP THEIR BODY FAT AT LIKE 10%. If you are naturally thin although you eat well and are physically active, that is fine. You are going to have MUSCLES and therefore by defintion, you are NOT a skeleton woman..
A SKELETON WOMAN JUST KEEPS HER "MODEL LOOKS" AND DOES NOT EAT AND DOES NOT EXERCISE. I am talking about those here. The model types. OUT WITH THOSE UNHEALTHY HABITS!!!!

being thin is ok when it naturally happens
BUT IT IS NOT OK WHEN SKINNY IS FORCED - and yeah that is body shaming, you cannot be "fat". I totally hate body shaming in kdramas, which FORCES actresses to be super skinny and look like they are starving.

Marilyn Monroe is a "fat pig" according to these silly standards.

Even models today have to maintain their weight above a certain number.

SO YES, OUT WITH SKELETON WOMEN - THOSE WOMEN WHO ARE MADE THAT WAY BY STRICT DIETING AND MEASURING THEIR BODY FAT AND WEIGHT TO CERTAIN LOW VALUE

I am not body shaming, I am promoting HEALTH

Out with Skeleton women and halelujah to healthy muscular nicely shaped strong women!!!!

Skeleton women are probably models but - out with skeleton models too!!!!

Let women have their health and muscles and fat, 30% body fat is necessary for female hormones to work properly. It is well known because athletes who go under that percentage, lose their periods etc. there is a whole bunch of health consequences when hormones do not work properly

I think this allowing women to be healthy is going to raise Korean birth rate, which is the lowest in the world. Skeleton women have no energy to live their lives properly, are not healthy, and definitely will have reproductive issues.

Looking at countries that have proper birth rates, they got women who are strong and in good shape. For example, African or Brazilian women are drop dead gorgeous, muscular to plump, and healthy

Romance there will be FUN :) Those legs on the screen are a welcome detail. So many actresses are too skinny to even live, so to see a pair or REAL legs is a victory to good health and strong women. Yes. She is in. She has the energy to chase Ji Seok.

The head nun prosecutor can stay as a work friend :) and the reporter too.
The reporter is awful skinny looking and no romance air around her. I remember that actress from The Real Has Come and it drove me bananas how skinny she was yet supposedly pregnant, plus she always act the SAME all the time.
