i'm back watching this show again on youtube. some of the most memorable clips. the thing is the whole drama is such a vibe that it's like almost all the episodes are worth multiple rewatches. this is such a gem. one of the bits that i love is how they make found family feel natural and warm. from jian's jian's childhood to her early adulthood. even the apartment era with the 3 girls and her 2 brothers living across halls, notice that they have sort of formed a de facto family like in FRIENDS. but this is a cdrama so the distinct element is food that brings the family together. so you can see how that is being portrayed with them preparing and eating breakfast everyday before all of them go to their jobs. what a time of life indeed.
Don't know why these chinese makers are obsessed with making 90s 80s dramas can't they do more like make somthing…
i think this has been a trend lately. The main thing is about nation building. Didn't you notice the plots of recent dramas, including Shine on Me. they have focus on careers that are about how China developed over the past decades. I think this is going through that route. Their done with just cheesy rom com dramas for modern stories.
can somebody explain what are the differences between the companies Shuangyan and Shengyuan and Yuan shang? am i even calling the names right? i thought they are all working in Shengyuan and its also partly owned by her family. so what about this Shuang yan? which is which? i know about the Huaya clearly its like the finance company where ZX works.
That's a very good comment...BUT it doesn't change the fact that it's yet ANOTHER breakup close to the finale.…
it really depends on the writing and consistency of the character strengths when it comes to breakups near finale. The goal is to create a suspenseful climax before the cooldown or falling action towards a resolution. For romcoms like this, one good example IMO is Something About 1 percent. they had an even more unreasonable breakup. But the way things were handled towards their reconciliation and even marriage is what I appreciated most. They spent a good amount of time to heal the viewers wounds with a montage of what happens after they got back together again, like a sweet reward after many episodes of trials. Though this one I doubt will do that, especially when the screentime of the main couple’s story is significantly reduced because the second couple ughh. though the second lead girl is bearable, the SML is quite annoying to my taste.
ijust love it. it’s one of the main reasons i love the show Meet Yourself. honestly this is boring stuff or plots, but if it’s about discovering culture and a beautiful heritage, i find my cdrama watching habit worth it. stuffs like that you know? it’s like a refreshing side quest after all the drama and stress. like even in cdramas, going back to grassroots is such a power move.
i love it now that they are featuring a culture with botanical dyeing. that means we’ll be getting scenes with a picturesque ancient chinese town. We’re back on track.
i dont know but these sub plots of doing business with group of friends are tired to me. like I’ve seen it in Story of Pearl girl with Lusi again and many other historical dramas. cant they just make it makjang and not do boring sidequests.
so in the original script, xu yan was supposed to give a long excuse, "grandma, I want to bring you to jingzhou…
and the way her grandma reacted. totally made sense why grannie was her comfort and safe space ever since or as she says her only family. because, grannie knows. grannie understands. and goes with her plan. such unconditional love.
"I know you've never been close to our parents but I never thought we weren't family""only you think…
I wonder though if FL had been born a boy, would the parents have treated her better? they had wanted a boy that’s why they tried for a second baby, even though the mom was weak in health. but the disappointment and also their circumstance being a poor humble family, caused the unfair treatment of the 2nd daughter.

What if Ling Xiao became a gynecologist instead. hahahaha. their first meeting after singapore would have been so weird.
