They were talking about being tanned. The simplest Chinese word for tan is 晒黑 and 黑 literally means black. So having any auto subs trying to translate 晒黑, it’ll just say black.
This is like how the Koreans will say naega and people will think they’re saying the n word.

A very good example is trying to watch Chinese short films or variety shows on YT. When there’s no subs you can opt for auto subbings. Some of the translations are correct while most aren’t. They can be very funny too. 😆
