I just finished this series, and I have to say again, it's absolutely BEAUTIFUL.
And it's SUCH a surprise for a Chinese BL / queer story. There is some intimacy - not a whole lot, though. Just the right amount. But the fact that it's there at all is a wonder.
PLEASE go watch this series. There are 7 episodes, and they're all relatively short. The longest one is just over 23 minutes, and the shortest is just over 13 minutes. But each one....oh, they are lovely. The cinematography alone makes me SWOON.

The acting, the cinematography, the BEAUTIFUL setting, the music and the artwork at the end of the episodes are all excellent. Wow, wow, wow. I'm enjoying the series very much.
First.....on many other websites, this film is listed as BL. That is incorrect. It is strictly an LGBT+ movie, **not** BL. Just wanted to clarify that.

I'm on my second viewing of this beautiful and realistic movie. The first time I watched it was 2 years ago, and it has stayed with me ever since.
The acting is superb, and it's a very well-written and well-made film. It's no wonder Hio Miyazawa, who played Shun, was nominated for four (and won two) awards for this movie.
The topic(s) in the movie "His" - closeted adult, unexpected pregnancy, reluctant marriage, parenthood, divorce, self-acceptance, a rediscovered past love, the fight for custody between gay and straight parents in the Japanese court system, acceptance of others, forgiveness - are so relatable and current.
This movie is gentle in some ways, but does not pull many punches. It's definitely not candy-coated at all. As a viewer, I appreciate that realism. And as a now-grown child of (albeit straight) parents who had an acrimonious divorce and child custody battle, I can understand the young daughter's feelings and confusion as well. The adults in the story have to make some hard choices, and they're not perfect solutions but they are the best decisions they can make considering the situation.
What a stunning, deeply layered and very sad movie. I already liked Jeff Satur, but this cemented my admiration for him as an actor.
The acting, plot, cinematography, production and music were so well done. Jeff's OST for the movie, Rain Wedding, is hauntingly beautiful.
I want to hope that , after he drove away from his tragic former life, Jeff's character finally found happiness somewhere in the world. I really want to hope for that.
This film left quite an impression on me, and it really made my heart hurt, how unfair everything was. I'll be thinking about it for a while.
I agree. I said the same thing in my own post, further down. I am SO not happy with whomever used that piano track. Totally ruined the mood, which was amazing before that.
OK.....just finished Ep 4. I loved the almost the entire Ep.
I'm going to talk specifically about the last part, when they end up in Akin's apartment.
1) The TENSION......the effing TENSION.......holy CRAP. T>H>E> T>E>N>S>I>O>N> is UNREAL.
2) The scene where they're kissing......That scene, just the kissing.....was incredibly raw and sensual. Very realistic and it literally took my breath away. It felt like two real, actual men kissing. WAYYYYY better than a lot of other BLs. WAY WAY WAY WAY better.
3) For some reason, that scene ^^^^ had a really retro feel to it. Maybe because Jin's hair is long? It reminded me of the 1970s, in a lot of ways. (Full disclosure - I was born in the 1960s.)
4) Everything was AMAZING........until.......the honey. And the piano. THAT EFFING piano. Geez. That's all I will say about that. UGH.
5) If they just would have left those two things ^^^^^ out of that scene. If only. (or at least cut WAY back on the honey, but completely left the piano out. I seriously hope they don't ever use that piano track, ever again.)
6) I am new to this pairing, I think? I don't remember watching any other series with them in it. But WOWSER, they have amazing chemistry. I will definitely look for them again after this series is over.
After the first episode there were a number of ppl commenting about the original story with its S/A scenes. They worried that those scenes might also show up in the series.
I'm glad to see that - so far, at least - it seems like that won't be an issue in the series. Jin is giving big golden retriever energy, lol.

What's with all of the "sparkly" sound effects?? Good grief. It's just as bad as all of the "comedy noises" in some BLs.
The first COUPLE of times it was cute, but now those sound effects are popping up more and more often, to the point of becoming annoying.
And maybe it's just me, but there's too much sweetness in each scene. I literally feel a cavity coming on.
Can we just have some real scenes with these couples, without the constant cuteness? Please?
