i want to like this drama.. just watched til ep3. but struggling to follow the fast pace, back and forth who's who in the show. i love the FL and ML. so.. i shall continue and hope that the storyline starts to sink in.
yeah... if the drama is too heavy i may not be open to it at the moment. i have yet to watch , When Life Gives You Tangerines. which brilliant acting by the leads. but i cant handle too much depressing, tragedy.
tell me about it... ... i cant find anything worth watching or any magnetic roles like Ci sha's atm. but pray share anything else worth watching. I am watching my royal nemesis.. which is very good too. the acting is top notch..... and the yearning is real. but other than day.. nothing really holding my attention, i tried ashes to crown, and dazzling .... both ok.... dazzling having a bit of an upper edge for me - but nothing that has made sit up and take notice.
Today marks the official farewell to Chen Yanyun. My friends and I have compiled some videos and behind-the-scenes…
ren mi and win win also posted their personal goodbyes to the characters. and from what i read, all 3 really embrace their characters through and through as such it is so intimate. also as viewers , their embodiment really came through
Hi! I’ve seen people saying Ci Sha wrote a lovely farewell message about his character but I cannot find it…
Today marks the official farewell to Chen Yanyun. My friends and I have compiled some videos and behind-the-scenes footage to share with you all. From our first meeting with the producers and director, to reading the original novel, thoroughly studying the script, writing his character biography, lighting incense, enjoying tea, listening to music, practicing calligraphy, and training in horsemanship and swordsmanship, to costume fittings, joining the production team, filming wrap-up, broadcast, and the finale, it felt like we had journeyed from one summer to another, and it also felt like we had truly spent a part of life with the Third Master.
I've always said that what attracts me most about Chen Yanyun is his "steadiness"—"refined yet not weak, martial yet not reckless"—a safety net for everyone, while silently bearing everything himself. He is a powerful minister in the cabinet, strategizing in the court and decisive on the battlefield. But when I delved into his heart, I discovered that behind this composure and decisiveness lay a deep sense of loneliness and helplessness. He carried a heavy burden from a young age, accustomed to shouldering responsibility, naturally hiding some of his emotions, always remaining calm and thoughtful. Just like the mother's monologue at the end, "He was mature beyond his years, the most sensible of all the children, but because he was so sensible, he always received admonitions and higher demands first." I was deeply moved when I first read this passage, and now, seeing the mother's performance, I am deeply touched! I looked back again; he seemed calm and collected, yet beneath that calm lay a longing for family, teachers, friends, and lovers. So when his faith collapsed for the only time, his emotions completely erupted, and it was because of the countless times he had "held back" before that moment of "letting go" was all the more powerful.
In love, he went from testing to steadfastness, from forbearance to deep affection. He wasn't a "love-struck fool," but rather, outside the scheming court, he finally encountered a sincere heart, and from then on, he was determined to give his heart to his love. Whether in the court, on the battlefield, or in love, he held onto his original intentions and never questioned whether it was worth it.
Since the broadcast, I am very grateful for everyone's recognition of Chen Yanyun and me. These comments are a great encouragement to me. I've always believed that actors and their roles complement each other. I tried my best to understand him and become him, and he, with his resilience and responsibility, healed me and helped me grow.
I'm grateful for Chen Yanyun's choice, which gave me the opportunity to experience such a profound and wonderful life. Chen Yanyun's life wasn't easy, but it was also fortunate, because he always found a way to turn things around in adversity. In fact, everyone who achieves success likely experiences pain, confusion, oppression, exclusion, and misunderstanding along the way, shedding many layers of skin before reaching another peak. But as Romain Rolland said, "There is only one true heroism in the world: to see the world as it is, and to love it." I think Chen Yanyun is such a hero.
Chen Yanyun will forever remain in my heart, and in the hearts of everyone who has loved him. This journey has been fulfilling and without regrets. In the future, I will carry this experience and growth with me, continuing to work hard and treat every role with care. In my world, there are no big or small roles, no matter how much screen time there is; every role is treated equally, and these roles are both me and not me!
In a parallel universe, Chen Yanyun's story continues. He is surely happily moving forward on his ideal path, but there's no need to rush. Perhaps slowing down will reveal a new landscape.
Thank you Hunan TV and Mango TV; thank you to the production team of "The Legend of Chen Yanyun"; thank you to Director Jin and Director Chu; thank you to all my co-stars and senior actors; and most importantly, thank you to every viewer for your love, support, and understanding. Thank you for understanding Chen Yanyun; this is very important to me because it's the greatest recognition of my portrayal of the character. As an actor, I feel incredibly happy at times like this.
Today, "The Legend of Chen Yanyun" officially concludes, and Chen Yanyun's story also comes to an end. He has finally laid down his burdens, protected the stability of his country, and found his beloved by his side. From now on, he no longer needs to be meticulous in everything, nor does he need to shoulder everything alone. The last thing I want to say to Chen Yanyun is still the same: "You've worked hard. Take some time to rest. You really don't need to shoulder so much burden. Give yourself a break and relax; it will help you face the future better." Goodbye
I was actually quite surprised that some viewers dropped the drama because they found Ci Sha’s acting too blunt…
agreed.... ci sha 's acting was a big revelation to me. Bcoz he conveyed the restrain of his character with so much depth... and power. there's nothing boring about him...even though he is the most steady character there is... (apart from when he lost his cool and experienced jealousy for the first time)
I am watching the episode where Xuanqing gone rouge. This is the part i dont get. Suddenly xuanqing’s suicide. Did he not think he is gonna get away from doing fu hai lian’s bidding? Did he regretted the betrayal? Did he tip off san ye? Coz san ye definitely mention getting his msg. As for san ye, yes he was blindsided. And i think he still thought he is teaching his nephew a lesson with the wiping. He definitely saw himself as xuanqing’s father figure and didnt understand how he had failed in his duty that the person he sought to protect , didnt see it as protection but of trying to rule his life
I agree. YX shouldn't have died. He was the last man standing after all. The writer really messed up there.
I agree, this is what makes his character and the story the more compelling and make us as viewers, cry, or scream bloody murder. His death, really hit a note, but he did it on his own terms. He character growth arc was what made him so endearing.
from the synopsis, it is truly interesting
