Happy 2nd Anniversary to this glorious drama!
If you want to watch it for the first time, please keep these tips in mind for a better ending experience:

1. Think of 25 21 as a drama about youth, achieving your dreams, friendship and first loves.
2. Don't think of it as a standard rom-com, even though there is romance and a lot of comedy.
3. Listen carefully to what the characters say during the show to understand their motivations at the end.
4. Pay attention to the FL's relationship with her mother.
5. Don't start theorising about the daughter's name.
6. One identity is never revealed and just accept that it's not relevant.
7. The drama is centred on the FL during a certain period, so what some characters are doing in the future isn't addressed. Just assume they're doing well.
Enjoy!

I just watched the final episode of 2521 last night and honestly, this drama hit me differently. Although I am…
A bit late, but here are my thoughts.
1) My theory is that Moon Ji Woong gave the photo to NHD because he didn't want it and didn't want Ko Yu Rim to be concerned about him having it.
2) The mother admits that she left NHD alone too much while she was growing up, so this is why the scene is necessary. It also shows that no matter how old you are, you still need/want your mum.
3) NHD's lonely childhood, BYJ turning into her mother, his lack of communication and the unlikelihood of him ever changing are reasons why NHD initiated the break up. Another reason was support for his career. NHD knew that being the NY correspondent was a huge opportunity for BYJ, so she would never have asked him to move back to Korea and resume being a local news reporter. Likewise BYJ would never have asked her to quit fencing and move to NY to be with him. They were well on the way to achieving their dreams and didn't need each other's support so much, so it was time to let each other go. 😢

Two years late, but congratulations to KDE for writing 25 21, one of the best dramas ever imo, and creating one of the best characters in Kdramaland, Na Hee Do. NHD is so real & three-dimensional and the stroppy fencer with a heart of gold made me laugh, cry and be inspired. I loved the other members of the Tae Yang High School squad as well. I can't wait to see what KDE does next.

Upon rewatch i just realised how horrible her mother really was. Taking your job seriously is one thing but constantly…
Yes, I agree. It bugs me that people who hate the ending don't take NHD's upbringing into consideration. She says "I grew up alone and I was lonely" and reiterates this when removing the tunnel graffiti, but many ignored this and claimed she acted out of character by not fighting to keep the relationship alive. But why would she fight when BYJ was turning into her mother and not communicating? People pointed out that Ko Yu Rim and Moon Ji Woong were able to have a long-distance relationship, but they had open communication with each other, plus loving & supportive parents, so the cases are different. Of course there were other factors to the break up, but NHD's mother is a huge one.

Do yall recommend watching this even if I'm not into romantic dramas?
Yes, definitely! It's not really a rom-com and more about youthful dreams and friendships.

Maybe falling into the sea helped cauterise the wound. Like all dramas, you sometimes have to suspend all rational belief and just roll with it.

I have my eyes on this drama for years, literally YEARS, but i just somehow don't wanna start it, someone give…
Mr Sunshine is truly epic and fully deserves its ranking as one of the all-time best dramas. It has beautiful cinematography & costumes, memorable characters, top cast, acting & OST and a fun bromance. If you still need persuading, it's got Kim Taeri with a very kick-ass role and one of the greatest love stories ever! Mr Sunshine has a lot of characters introduced in Ep 1 and the timelines aren't clear, but stick with it and you can google a character relationship chart to help. It's based on true historical events, but not serious the whole time and there are some genuinely funny moments. Totally recommended!

Lee Wan-Ik already had Lord Go Sa-Hong on his hit list. Lee saw Gunner Jang at the palace and decided to investigate him. He unfortunately turned up at Gunner Jang's camp just before Go Ae-Shin arrived to remove guns and burn down the hut. Lee later realised that Ae-Shin was the right age if the Righteous Army members he executed in Japan had had a child.

Yes. Eugene and Kim Hui Sung worked out where to look for him and Gu Dong Mae's men captured him. The Righteous Army then permanently dealt with him.

There's nothing special about the coin and Hina knew that Gu Dongmae didn't really care about money. He made the payment amount small so that it wouldn't trouble Go Aeshin and just wanted her to visit every month.

if you like something like this but not a sad ending then I highly recommend you check out the kdrama Twinkling…
I've watched 12 episodes of Twinkling Watermelon so far and it's going to be a struggle for me to finish it because it's increasingly boring. I don't get its hype or see any chemistry between the cast. TW is nowhere as good as 25 21 imo.

Can someone make a correction that guard and thunder are not the same actor? As Kim Woo Bin is not thunder he…
Thunder is a "program" which can take many forms. As a droid, he was voiced by Kim Dae Myung. Thunder often impersonates Guard, so it's correct that Kim Woo Bin is billed as Thunder in part 2.

so why is the rating low
I think many conservative and/or religious people didn't check the classification rating and warnings beforehand and were offended by the explicit R18 content, then gave a low score.

I have a question before I watch it: Happy or sad ending?
The tag-line was "guns, glory and sad endings". The ending is very sad, but uplifting at the same time because the story is based on true events. This drama is a masterpiece and must watch!

He would've spoken it with his adoptive "dad", Joseph Stenson.
It's not shown, but I think that Eugene stayed with him until he enlisted. As a Christian missionary, Joseph could hardly abandon Eugene and leave him to fend for himself in a foreign country.
