'Icy' Mother/Daughter Relationship inside a Noir Psychological Skating Film
Not much to say here. The movie is disturbing but riveting. The more you watch, the more questions you have. Things get so bewildering you begin to suspect a SIXTH SENSE twist in the road, and you'd be right. Something is afoot, but I won't spoil.
The acting is solid. I came here for Ma Yi Li but really the two young ladies are the reason to see this. The story pace is fine and the production values are pretty good, but they lean more horror movie than arthouse.
I will give you a piece of serious advice though. This movie does something I despise: it opens by showing you something very deep in the movie that's melodramatic, and then says, "Three weeks earlier." I HATE THIS WITH A PASSION. What they show you would be WAY BETTER as a surprise instead. So here's what you need to do --
-- Find someone who doesn't care about seeing this movie. Have them watch the movie (on mute) and wait for the movie's title to be shown in big red letters on a black background. Have them pause it there so that you can start the film there.
Trust me -- it will make the movie EVEN better.
