Talking about when Ina read Dahae's mind:1st marriage: to get back at her mom who left her to be with her lover.2nd…
this is interesting because it's so reflective of how badly damaged her psyche is thanks to her parents. I think her not-mom probably didn't have much of a say in her choosing the targets as long as they were rich. Which is why we got the abusive alcoholic first husband, and the lecherous, cheating second husband. I think only Gwi Joo was the one specifically selected by not-mom. Which also leads me to think that in a different scenario, Da Hae would probably have never approached him for a con, just because her targets before him reflected the people who had wronged her. I wanna hug her so bad.
I appreciate that as the episodes go by, we see a better selection of outfits for Dong Hee beyond those horrible multiple layers of ill-fitting, unironed shirts, but that's also accompanied by a caveat because now that she's actively losing weight, obviously she's going to get better fits. Either way, I'm glad she's regaining her confidence and doing better and hope that she continues being her entertaining self. Stylists for plus size characters, do better!
The entire cast is amazing, especially the main actors, and the story itself is very captivating. but it seems…
well said! the mental gymnastics people do to argue here in the comments is beyond me, because maybe if they used some of that to actually watch the show they wouldn't feel the need to go through all the trouble. But oh well, such is the plight of the interwebs being so densely populated and people's attention spans being at an all time low.
So I am on ep 6 and can't help but wonder: why is it that when watching the "mother" and the "uncle" I am getting…
THANK YOU FOR POINTING THIS OUT! I fully agree with you, all of these people are flawed human beings with a lifetime of stories and yes, their decisions and intentions rn are not noble, but you know deep down there's so much more to them.
I haven't seen anyone else talk about this but even though she's doing this for ulterior motives, everything Da Hae's mom says about her being basically a free maid and not an accepted wife and quite literally being mistreated at times is so so so valid and the lived reality of a lot of women around the globe.
(Talking based only on 3 episodes I seen) The main plot on her side is so URGH! Specially when a kid is involved.…
I don't think anyone here is condoning or glorifying her actions. everyone is just waiting to see how the story unfolds. we acknowledge that she's a bad person and we acknowledge that the ML is also a shitty parent. The reason why you probably see people trying to "defend" her is because there are soooo many dramas with horrible main characters, most of which are men, and no one ever bats an eye about them. Why is a bad woman having everyone clutch their pearls? Also, what does this say about the people she's deceiving that their lives have gotten so much better since she entered the picture, regardless of her reasons.
I don't like the character of ML at all, neglected his wife when she was around, even after she died he didn't…
I see your point but I don't think he changed because he thought she would leave. he changed because he felt hope that he could be happy again. something that he'd lost when he lost his hyung and that sent him in a depressive and neglectful spiral. it's definitely not excusable, and even now you can argue that what he feels for the FL isn't love but a need that will help him fix himself but that's what makes these characters so much more layered and human, they're full of flaws just like us and seeing them grow and learn from their mistakes is our way of getting closure as a drama watcher.
Day 365247 of me wishing this was a 16 episode drama because THERE IS SO MUCH I WANNA KNOW and not enough time. When you have such rich characters, you can just as easily devote an entire episode to unpacking each of their pasts, their present aspirations and obviously where they're headed. I want to know all about how our grifter squad came to be in a proper episode dedicated to them and not just a quick five minute flashback. I wanna know all about the "uncle" and Grace, heck, I even wanna know more about Hye Rin, because even she is presented as more than just a catty bully. I want an episode all about Dong Hee, she's arguably the smartest member of the Bok family, I wanna know how each of the Bok family members first experienced their powers (we kinda saw Gwi Joo's). Now this is me being a nerd but I want an episode all about the Bok family lore, the very first ancestors who had superpowers, how they manifested, the implications etc. I love this drama so much it's ruining my life hahaha.
Da Hae doesn't get enough credit for how much she's (consciously and unwittingly) turned the Bok family's lives around for the better. I guess the only person not directly impacted by Da Hae is Dong Hee but the presence of Grace makes up for that. Someone in the comments mentioned finding the dad sus but I think he's not. I think he plays the same role that Da Hae has kind of naturally come to assume, the normie (affectionate) who keeps the heroes grounded and functional and at their best. His conversation with Gwi Joo about past ancestors having someone like that around makes me certain about his role in the family. it's no small role, and yes, although the Bok family was running on fumes prior to Da Hae's arrival, whatever was left of it was being managed by him. In this sense I think he's severely underrated and I hope we get to see more of him and his wife's interactions. Thank you for coming to my ted talk
The storyline I was the most interested in was between the two kids, and it looks like that storyline is over…
I could be wrong but I think MDL updates the actors here as they appear in each episode, he's probs only mentioned up till episode 6 because that's how many episodes have aired so far. they'll definitely update everything as each new episode airs
every time I start to miss this drama I watch the behind the scenes videos on YouTube. SATURDAY PLEASE COME QUICKLY I'M LITERALLY DYING HERE https://youtu.be/oeqM7cs9G3A?si=8d8ImfUUEc9gd6j_ (most recent one)
Such a slay having two of your dramas (with two drastically different characters) trend at the same time! It's Chun Woo Hee's world and we're all just living in it
Atypical Family is in the Netflix global top 10 again. It dropped two places to #8. But The 8 Show is at #7 which…
about time! she deserves so much more recognition. I can't believe someone in the comments here said that she has the face of second female lead, like excuse me???? what is that even supposed to mean? she's been acting in award winning films before people's faves even debuted like the slander omg
can i just say i love the dynamic between the fl and i-na-both feel isolated in their own way in their own world…
I Na and Da Hae have become my favourite dynamic because of how there's no lies between them. Each sees through the other perfectly and in a twisted way is also cheering the other person on even if what they might be doing isn't ideal. They would totally be ride or die besties in another life
Because of the confirmation that she was at the fire that killed his hyung. He thinks he's the one who saves her…
WELL SAID! that's what she is at this point in time, an object of hope for him. he always talks about her in relation to either everyone else in life (e.g I Na) or his powers. Yes, it is all very affectionately said but it's clear how he feels, I mean he said it himself, he'd LIKE to fall in love with her.
I was weeping for him throughout the episode. He wants to improve himself so bad and I really hope whatever is about to happen now doesn't derail him from his goal for too long.
this drama better win some award cuz episode six was just peak everything: storytelling, cinematography, sound design, dialogue literally deserves a full length breakdown on the nuances of so many interactions that happened in this ep (Da Hae and the dad, I Na and Da Hae, Da Hae's "uncle", even just the final short exchange between Da Hae and Gwi Joo's mom). I'm not even gonna talk about the interactions between the two leads cuz my heart broke at every single one and WE'RE NOT EVEN IN ROMANCE TERRITORY YET 😭 I am losing my mind thinking of how it'll be when (if?) we even get to that.
