This keeps getting better! Our team of losers finally grasped some of the gravity of the situation and the larger conspiracy they're involved in. It's a long uphill journey for them to evolve and learn from their mistakes while struggling to survive amid their banter (can't get enough of this), and I'm going to be here for all of it! It's been a while since dramaland put out a sageuk like this. xD
For those who say the script is bad, I would love to know exactly what makes it bad, and why they feel that way. Sure, you can criticize the production quality of the drama [though a) this is coming from a public broadcasting channel, and b) it's substance over style] but what exactly was it about the first three episodes that makes one think the "script" is inherently bad? To me it just seems that lately, any drama trying something unexpected (like Lovestruck In the City with its mockumentary setup, and Secret Royal Inspector, a fusion sageuk, similar to the Hong sisters', Hong Gil Dong) will get hate just for the sake of it.
This is off topic but can any Monbebes here confirm if it is indeed Kihyun's voice in the OST that plays in the end? I've been looking for it for ages but it seems it's unreleased as of yet.
Can we talk about Jae Woong for a hot second? This turnover (not that we didn't see it coming) was insanely cool (and hot xD) I am so excited to see someone at least letting their powers really go wild. Jae Woong honey you go do your badassery and show everyone they were wrong underestimating you, both as a child and as an adult. Aaaaahhhhh I can't wait for the next episode.
I'm in love with the leads, the cinematography, the music and the production! The story might be something we've all seen before but it's presented so beautifully that you cannot help but gush at every small thing. I've never watched any of the leads' previous works before but they carry so much depth in their micro-expressions, the chemistry is impeccable, and they're both absolutely gorgeous visuals to top it all off! What a delight!
This is exactly the kind of cheesy, campy, adventure/mystery comedy I was looking for! Don't know why thriller is listed as a genre when nothing from the initial promotions to the final trailers said anything about the drama being like that. As for everyone who keeps asking about the romance, just watch the first episode. This has the fastest moving romantic line I've seen in dramaland lately.
What a spectacular start! I am hooked. This ragtag team of idiots will be a riot to watch. Can't wait to see what happens next. PS. The twenty people who rated this after the first episode, seriously what are you doing? xD
Episode 7 has to be the most blatant filler episode I've seen in dramaland lately, with everything of importance being crammed into the final ten minutes. Maybe it's just me, but the writing for this episode in particular felt rather subpar, given the fact that all episodes so far were just stepping up their game. At least the preview for episode 8 looks promising, can't wait to see what happens next!
its a mystery. there is no romance so far. if you're talking about the main couple, they act like a normal married…
There actually isn't any romance at all so far. The point of romance is to show progression not aversion. All the so called romantic scenes so far were present to highlight exactly where and how our characters (namely Woo Sung) are going wrong. Every scene he feels an attraction to someone or acts on his impulses is a red flag for him and the audience, this is something that shouldn't be happening. Of course, the execution is often rather over the top but that's kinda the point of this drama.
I love love love the direction this is going in with its subtle commentary through some very over the top gestures. I would hate for this to get bogged down by any kind of romance unless that serves to further the plot. I want Yeo Joo to continue being the badass she is and as of now (unpopular opinion) I really don't want anyone to end up with anybody else (unless it's the detective duo, they're hilarious together.) All characters are doing excellently on their own and as kdrama watching experience goes, romance almost always comes at the price of character development, so I would rather not have any of it.
she had a main role in designated survivor! i highly recommend this drama, she did a phenomenal job and her character…
I have watched Designated Survivor and I loved every bit of her character, but that is one single (not even a proper lead role because the cast is an ensemble) role when she has been active for almost ten years and has proven time and again how great of an actress she is. It's just disappointing!

Gong Hye Won is the Goo Chan Sung of Awaken except not as likeable lol.
Hoping this promising momentum stays till the end!
