blame the Chinese Censorship that limited the number of Episodes to 40. back in the day, we used to get like 50 to 60 episode of a Xianxia drama. this is why xianxia drama of the past has a satisfied ending since having more episode mean more thing to flash out but sometime draggy too.

that's what i though too since i already watched both Ancient Love Poetry and the Last Immortal when it was aired, i though Moonlight Mystique would be connected with Ancient Love Poetry but after i watched it until half through and then i realised that this is not related to Ancient Love Poetry univese whatsoever, it's an entirely difference drama with it's own universe and worldbuilding.

also i notice that this drama does not share the same universe as Ancient Love Poetry when they put Xing Yue / Yuemi with the same importance as Jing Yuan / Tianqi. Remember! in Ancient Love Poetry, she was the goddess of the Stars who position below Tianqi, one of the four true Gods and here Xing Yue and Jing Yuan are basically on equal status, with Xing Yue being the Goddess of the Lunar Race and Jing Yuan being the Demon Gods. so i started to question, this is not in the same universe as Ancient Love Poetry? it's difference entirely.

you don't need too, just go straight to Moonlight Mystique. however if you want to watched the Last Immortal, you definitely need to watched Ancient Love Poetry.
