All four leads are great and it's well written although it is the same writer as Crash Course in Romance so to be expected IMO.

Honey stop talking about yourself. You're probably not as bad as you think.

I watched Bai lu in few of her previous dramas and never understood the buzz about her , she performed a strong…
But she can't act and she's proven it in The First Jasmine as she's given the most wooden, most emotionless performance in a Chinese drama all year. I dropped it at Episode 31 due to both her and Cheng Lei being laughably bad in their roles and the writing becoming stupidity personified.

Saw a comment on here claiming 'Cheng Lei lacks expression' and it's pure ragebait. Anyone saying that needs to…
Watched most of Ep31 on doublespeed including his scene after she left, which was amateurishly acted with over-the-top, inauthentic emotions. He's not a good actor, and he's not good looking. I'm still trying to figure out why he has been so successful? He's average in everything at best. Anyway I dropped this after Ep31 as the writing has become insanely stupid and Bai Lu's acting has gotten worse as the drama goes on. The only good thing about this is at least both the two main actors have amateur acting skills so they're not destroying a talented actor's performance who would have been playing opposite them otherwise.

Can anyone explain why people are always spitting-up blood in period dramas? Shocking news, trauma and the blood…
It's nasty isn't it. One reason why I'm moving back to watching K-dramas. Sick of the Chinese spewing blood every 10 seconds, nasty and disgusting.

that scene with all the ghosts of Ye Li's past was too profound for words. my tears were a testament to that.…
Her character is written badly and Bai Lu is performing it like she's a store window mannequin. One of worst performances I've seen in a Chinese drama this year but no worries I'll stick her on my list of actresses to avoid from now on as she is completely unable to act and it's all good.

If there were a title for crying on screen, it would belong to one and only Bai Lu. 👑I've watched countless…
Come on, she hardly ever changes her facial expression. It's like she's been covered in plastic and daren't move her face in case it wrinkles.

The entire drama has collapsed into moronicness. Garbage writing and a simple drop.

Nah you're the hater attacking someone who is an actual expert on Chinese dramas but hey looks like she's deleted all her comments and gone so there's that. I don't blame her as the saying goes "Don't wallow in the mud with pigs. You get filthy and the pigs are happy". Now I'm gone too as who has time to waste with this nasty group of fangirls.

I wouldn't worry about it tho as it looks like she's deleted all her comments and left.?????? I don't blame her. She's an actual expert on Chinese dramas and all you delulus did is attack her for stating facts and having an opinion because god forbid anyone say Bai Lu isn't the best actress. She isn't btw and half of China agrees with her. Read Weibo and Douban comments and you'll see Bai Lu's poor acting is attacked by millions of Chinese. But keep living in your circle jerk with your similarly delusional fangirl buddies. I'm finished here too. You people wouldn't know "intelligent" discussion if it bashed you in the brain. You're also kinda nasty.

Your biggest mistake is trying to have an intelligent discussion with fan girls. As impossible things go it's close to the top of the pile.

Why does this site allow people to review a drama that is still airing, and lie about the episodes they've watched because with only 6 episodes out some idiot insists they've watched 36 episodes and they deserve a 10 out of 10. How can anyone take reviews seriously here?

I knew it was going to be bad based of that cheesy trailer.
Me too but I gave it a fair shot as the cast is great. It ended up being 135 mins of my life I'll never get back.

Precisely but in China they decide not to do this. There is no innocence until proven guilty but instead any actor accused of anything has their careers put on hold and in some cases nuked completely in case they might be guilty. Then when it turns out they're not guilty of anything two or three years later there's no sorry we were wrong, or even much attempt to help them restore their collapsed career. Just an ah well mistakes were made. To call the Chinese entertainment industry toxic is an understatement. Fingers crossed someday they'll start treating their actors as well as they treat their production companies but I won't hold my breath. Yes the Chinese produce some beautiful dramas but the country has been in existence 4,000 years and the way serfs were treated in ancient China isn't that much different than the way actors and others in the industry who make the dramas are treated now. They just make more money.
