The plot was all over the place. The first few episodes are interesting and make you curious and then it unravels slowly till ep 12. All the loose ends are tied up, kinda but you get the sense the writers weren't sure about anything after the mystery sub-plot was resolved.
Still, this is one of those few dramas I'm rating based only on how happy it made me. Loved the characters and the relationships so much.
Halfway through this drama and came here to say why the fuck didn't this get attention?! It's so well-written and the cast is stellar. The two male leads have great chemistry. Bae Hyun Sung is eating this role up. The trauma is not layered on so thick that you can't enjoy the story/be entertained. The supernatural elements aren't too outlandish. The characters are believable. I don't know yet why Kang San can do the things he does but that curiosity doesn't distract me from the progression of the plot. It's so bloody good. I have zero complaints. Fingers crossed the second half doesn't disappoint.
The writing on this is par the course for GMMTV - write for a shipped couple instead of writing and finding the best actors for the story. It'll always be more miss than hit. Watching this for Joong's smile and flirting.
I think the actors are doing a fantastic job and working with stellar material. The dialogue is just *chef's kiss* The first two episodes weren't the strongest but I figured out which couple was which by ep 2. And their stories are progressing well - you can almost see the plot unfold. Not very enthusiastic about the suspense element but then I'd have nothing to gripe about. I like that all the characters are flawed in some way. This would be super boring with characters being all proper and whatnot. I am pretty sure that the writers will resolve the "uncomfortable" parts before the drama ends.

This is not a romance drama. I'm ready to fight any and all comments talking about 2nd lead syndrome and love triangle and whatnot. The "romance" is basically a plot device to drive the characters (see Kim Bong Seok at the end of ep 7). That said, they're all super cute experiencing first love but their lives are about to get bloody and violent as fuck. Curious to see how that affects/changes them.
K-dramas tend to lean into stereotypes and do the barest minimum around the representation of non-Koreans. Not at all surprised this is getting backlash. Hopefully, it makes other writers and directors seek cultural context when they want to do stuff like this in the future. Hopefully.
