Yes Ben needs to improve his acting but this is his first job, give him a break. You remember your first job,…
There are too many first-time actors in BLs that even if they didn't wow, still showed a spark of talent. Ben is a log of wood with one facial expression. He moves his body where it needs to go but that's about it. It's going to take a whole lot of kindling and matches to get a fire going.
May I ask something? How do you shut down your heart? Because we (I) have no control over our feelings, they come…
It's not unhealthy either. I truly believe that defense mechanisms are a good thing and give one the time to heal. And even if eventually you decide romantic relationships and not something you want to pursue, that's fine also. You can have a life full of love. Doesn't have to be romantic.
The title is apt because Jin Young Soon was as bad a mother as she was good a mother. Her intent does not erase the fact that she was abusive to Kanghoon as a child and as an adult. Even if she had lived and spent the rest of her life making it up to him, it wouldn't have been enough. That said, her redemption arc is one I can get behind. Ra Mi Ran is a good actor and I'd really like to see her in more lead roles that are non-maternal. I can only dream.
The entire cast had great chemistry and the child actors were near perfect. I wasn't completely satisfied with the final courtroom scene (it was a rushed travesty) but when his mum stood up and shouted "Manse", the rush of emotions I felt did away with any objectivity I might have had. And that's good writing for me: the ability to reach your audience in such a way that they're willing to suspend disbelief.
I'm pretty sure the "it's popular so I have to say it's overrated" crew will be all over this cs in the coming days but this drama is worth watching and deserves every point of the current rating, whatever its faults.
I couldn't have envisioned a better ending for Dr Cha. I watched this drama for her and her alone. (Okay that's a lie. Roy Kim has the most beautiful eyes.) Cha put her life on hold to raise her family, cater to every whim of her husband and MIL, and do her best to keep the peace. By the end of the drama, she's divorced, has her own practice, is giving back to society and doing things she enjoys, all on her own terms. That's a pretty fantastic character arc for me.
Don't know why the romance tag is there. That was pretty misleading.
I don't know why I waited so long to watch this drama but it was so worth it. I loved the friendships and connections the characters had, even the relationships that seemed toxic. I ended up not really hating any of the characters who hurt others because the drama showed them as human rather than evil.
The relationship between the writer and director is my favourite. I know people a lot of people watch romcoms for passionate off-the-wall romance but the ordinariness of their relationship is so sweet and simple with plenty of funny moments thrown in. I'd like to be friends with them if they were real.
Ep 33. The man just had brain surgery for goodness' sake. At least allow a little time to let him stabilise. What's the rush? Unsure where the writers are going with this but letting Prof Ren into ICU to administer alternative treatment is not ideal.
And just like that, I've lost interest in this drama. Ayaka's reactions are not consistent with her character. Where is this diplomacy coming from? "I trust him"? gtfoh
Plus I dislike when female characters are physically shying away from intimacy. Inexperienced or not, it looks like she doesn't want to kiss the ML or do anything more with him and that's a complete turnoff.
Poor Meng Meng. Her parents are actual assholes. How do you find out a teenage girl masturbates and your solution is to put cctv in her bedroom? What manner of parenting is that? And they kept going on about how they loved her. I don't even agree that she had a sex addiction. She was just dealing with normal teenage desires. And it coincided with needing an outlet for everything else happening in her family. Poor Meng Meng.
Prof Ren is a fantastic doctor and mentor but a terrible father and a so-so husband. The things he says to his son? Cruel. He also says a lot of unkind things to his wife masked as jokes and he is inattentive as heck. There's no doubt they love each other but he veers between treating her like an ATM and someone who cleans up after him.
I absolutely love this drama! And I am very curious about Meng Meng's problems that traumatized her chronically!!??!!…
They weren't explicit but the parents judged her for having sexual desires. It could have manifested as masturbation or being sexual with boys. She got pregnant (I suspect rape, to be honest, with C-drama censorship too much is implied) and had complications (when the younger doctors helped her at the supermarket). It seems the experience triggered an underlying mental illness. I'm not sure if her parents' surveillance/detention started then or if it was an ongoing thing already but it didn't help. She seemed to be doing okay at the Rens' till she was contacted by who I assume got her pregnant and she sent him all her money. Again, I'm guessing blackmail. And to be honest, if her parents hadn't whisked her away and locked her up again, her friends would have found out. Tou Tou already noticed she was behaving off.
The older sister is a bitch. Of course she's going to get a redemption arc (like everyone else) but she is easily my most unlikeable character. She's mean to anyone she deems less than she is and that's just plain nasty behaviour. I hope she gets a divorce and when the baby is born her ex gets custody so the child is saved from a terrible mother.
Funny to read all the positive comments when the past couple of weeks have been all about how dumb the characters are, the writers have ruined the drama, etc. I'm sure there'll be more dumbtitude in the future so don't down the gloves yet.
