The point of the drama was to show three viewpoints. One from the 30’s one from the 50’s and one from the 90’s. That is why it’s called footprints of change. Glad you enjoyed the 30’s part of the story.

Well in my experience, real life generals get run around by the grandchildren far more than troops in the field.😂 They fight to keep it that way.

Because even the military wife or gf would like to present to their significant other something they especially made for them. A tangible evidence of their care. Fighting by his side unwavering is a great assist. It is not about who does the saving in warfare, it is about winning the battle and surviving by whatever means necessary.

Chu is a mixed bag because he won’t let a little thing like morality get in the way of his ambition. He notes wannabe gf’s meanness to servants as he smiles congenially with Xiao Jue acknowledging his requests are reasonable, and then throws him under the bus to his mentor and plans an ambush.😝 His quirkiness in interest of He Yan is an anomaly he can’t figure out.

I enjoyed Han Li avenging the Mo family and bringing about the family reunions. I find I prefer him getting the right people together over concern for his love life.

Few were satisfied with response but I am new to site and have no clue how MDL politics work. I feel same way when covers get changed on my kindle books. 😝It’s to be fair and unbiased but it sure seems counter productive to do this with no warning first.

Hayat is doing most of these under some new guidelines by MDL. There was a Lot of discussion of this on Legend of Zang Hai page and even a link as to why from MDL staff. I agree that this chosen cover art seems to be the least flattering for all of them.

He is a Mary sue character. However, he is intelligent enough to ask. He doesn’t go for the easy fix, he gets to the crux of what gets the job done. He learned this lesson with Dr. Mo. He also is most determined to improve himself as his main objective. Self defense is a big thing and he recognizes his need for it. He is pragmatic about where he really is in the pecking order. He uses his strengths to his best advantage and tools for any weakness. He recognized early that herbs and pills the best way to go and made a concerted effort to perfect those skills first. He learned best by staying behind the scenes and asking the cultivators how to do things. He takes the initiative for his own fate without really relying on anybody. That too Dr. Mo taught him. I admire his initiative even tho granted he is guided to many items at just the right time. I think the drama does show this quite well.

Ikr? I was waiting for them to offer his slot to someone else, but they didn’t even do that.

It was a bit bleak because he hadn’t been home for quite awhile. But now he can choose his own family and find people that actually care and respect him. Wasn’t it far sadder when none of the family that lived there had greetings or even civility toward him when alive? His father had a bit of respect at the end, but he was never really comfortable around his second son after the poisoning of the woman he loved.
