Although the premise for Man of Honor is kind of vague, it turned out to be totally different from what I expected. Whether that is good or bad you’ll have to decide for yourself… Story- It started off as any melodrama does with a traumatic event in the main characters childhood that separates them for many years until they meet again by chance or I guess fate. When they do meet again their lives are intertwined once again but this time many big secrets come out and in a way although they are able physically to remain by each others side they aren’t able to come together romantically till like the end due to these life changing secrets. I liked the story enough because I never felt bored but I wish they would’ve cut it down by at least 4 episodes. The beginning episodes were kind of not that interesting so if they would have left some of that stuff out it really would have made the drama more enjoyable. The episodes didn’t feel long because they were well written but the series as a whole felt too long. Another weak point would be the romance. There were not enough romantic scenes between the leads. So even though this is supposed to be a romance drama it felt more like a business drama because they really focused more on the revenge/ company matters/ job competition portion. Something I did like from the story was the ending. For the most part they settled everything in a realistic manner and it didn’t feel rushed. Acting/Cast- The acting by everyone was a pleasant surprise. I planned on watching this in the first place for Chun Jung Myun and already new he was a great actor. But I was worried when he got paired off with Park Min Young (didn’t like her acting in Sungyungwan Scandal and thought she was annoying in City Hunter) but I feel like she really tried with her character in this. Unfortunately, the leads had no romantic chemistry and it felt like they were suited to be best friends/siblings. Another actor I wanted to mention was Lee Jang Woo. Although this was the first role I had seen him in, I was impressed by how he portrayed his complex character as the arrogant but vulnerable chaebol son. I also will mention that I liked a lot of the supporting cast that played the characters on the Team Leader Heo’s sales team in the company. They made the business portion of the drama fun to watch. I also want to give it up to the actor that played our villain Chairman Seo. He was really scary and every time he yelled I got goosebumps! Music- It was well done. It was memorable, but Im not obsessed with listening to it outside of the show. Rewatch- Its really only good for a one time watch just because it can drain you and the romance wasn't that good. However, it is watchable because you dont get bored. Although Man of Honor is not one of the best dramas I’ve watched, it isn’t as horrible as everyone is making it out to be. Is it a drama you’ll be missing out on if you don’t watch? No. But If you like Chun Jung Myun well enough and you like melodramas with a happy ending, Id recommend this.
