Invincible Lee Pyung Kang wasn’t particularly a drama I felt I needed to watch just because the casting didn’t attract me and the synopsis seemed like the same ole same ole but I was looking for something light to watch and to pass the time… Story: Pretty much a standard workplace drama set in a hotel resort with rivalry ownership/competition as the main focus, and it kind of reminds me of Ji Hun Woo’s other drama Birth of the Rich but less dramatic. The romance could’ve been written better because for most of the drama the main character is in love with his childhood crush and towards the end he just happens to do a 180 and falls for the main female character (I prefer straightforward romances). Acting/Cast: Now I went into this knowing what to expect from JHW just because I’ve happened to dabble in some of his other dramas (never managing to finish them due to crappy stories) so all I can say is he was serviceable but his character was just one I didn’t connect with. He also had no romantic chemistry with Nam Sang Mi, who is an actress I had never seen before but found her character extremely annoying (her fake laugh made me want to punch her at times). I found the second leads more sympathetic and more real. Music: Fit the drama perfectly and some were catchy. Rewatch: I don’t see why anyone would want to watch it again unless you’re a fan of the leads. Overall, Invincible Lee Pyung Kang is standard fare and should only be watched when you really have nothing to watch.
