For me, the first 4 was not too bad. But recently there's too many explosive xianxia drama (TTEOTM and LYF) so everyone has very high expectation on this, especially this has ZLS in it. ZLS herself already dished out many amazing dramas recent years so everyone expect this drama to have that wow factor. And not to mention ALP fans too. So this drama certainly has a lot of expectation to fulfil.
A guide for watching xianxia, (especially for those who have not try this genre before) 1. You have to give it 10-15 episodes before you decide whether you love or hate it. Xianxia story has a lot of characters and layers of story, it's always very complicated. 2. There will be a lot of CG, really a lot because we real human can't shoot spell. And yes the whole drama will be very video gamey. 3. Do not disheartened by the ending. Just prepare and embrace for the worse, or open ending. 4. Xianxia = fantasy. Do not watch with too much human logic.

Its actually the character she’s playing problem. Or maybe the director’s too. I’d watched many of her drama, there are some I couldnt sit through, like Love in The Kitchen and Hidden Love, because of the childish voice and character. But I enjoyed a lot of her other drama where she played a stronger and independent character. Even as a soft weak princess in The Long Ballad, she doesnt sound or act childish. Which is great! So I guess it really depends on what the director want out from her.

Agree! Ruyi is both mother and father figure to him, she is the only person he has a strong attachment with. Because they are not blood related, he confusingly thought that kind of longing love is of a man and woman. Poor boy has no friend like Shisan to teach him about all this. Yes you are right, he is just a tragic character, I dont see him as villain. He will never make a good villain because of this weakness will be the end of him. Scriptwriter has been very good and consistent in character growth, especially for Yang Ying. Please do the same for LTG, because I am sure it will be a good one.
How old is LTG? His feeling towards his sifu, is one of the weirdest obsession. Definitely not how a man has feeling for a woman (like what everyone in the drama trying to make it look like). He lacks of motherly love and his sifu is both his mother and father figure. He whines like a baby looking for his mom, and he only wants his mom and no one else. That’s exactly how my 2year son behaves. TBH, I really pity LTG. Hope both RY and NYZ can guide him and make him a better person. If LTG become the throne successor with that attitude, An kingdom is doom.
