I finished watching it a few weeks back but never commented.
I went in not expecting too much but was pleasantly surprised by how good this drama is. An underrated one for sure! Everything about this show was good, I have no complaints. The romance was cute and the leads had great chemistry. I really liked the ML , his acting was flawless but the FL too did a great job. I don’t know why some call her annoying, I didn’t feel so at all. This show deserves more recognition. I would give it a decent 8.5

I am watching this drama but at a really slow pace. I started watching when it had started airing and I am only on Episode 8 now. It’s not boring not super interesting, just somewhere in the middle and the plot is interesting enough to have kept me going till now. I am just scared of the 50 episodes!! Like wth, when I started it I didn’t know it was going to be 50 freaking episodes long!! I don’t like the ML but all the other characters are what keep me coming back to this drama.
Seriously don’t know for how long I will manage…50 does seem like forever.

Started watching it because of the Lee Min Ho draught in my life. On episode 6 and loving it so far. I love both the leads. They are doing a fantastic job. Their characters different as chalk and cheese but together they make for a great combination. LMH is so magnificent…I think I always describe him like this. This word was invented for him, lol. Loving his no nonsense, extremely handsome, quietly suffering from inside General on my screen. I am glad I started this drama.

Unable to watch it anywhere as it’s not available on any OTT channels in my country. Feeling helpless 😢

I am dying to watch this one but have absolutely no idea how to.

I am on Episode 6 now, lol. Still unsure about the romance part but I am thoroughly enjoying the series till now.

I have been putting this off for long since I am not a fan of gender swap trope. But thought of giving it a try now because I feel I could do with some good laughs (heard this one has great comedy). I am halfway through the first episode and I have already laughed loudly multiple times.
Having said that I am still sceptical about the romance part. Don’t know how it will progress but the fact that the Queen is actually a guy inside I am not sure what’s going to unfold and how….just hope I will be able to enjoy it till the end.

I totally agree with you..the cooking competition with the Mings seems quite pointless to the overall story development and I understand that King wanted to avoid war and all that but dedicating nearly 4 episodes out of 12 to that subplot was ridiculous and frustrating as a viewer.

You have said everything I wanted to say but in a much better way lol. You have hit the nail on its head!
Because whenever I try to say that I am disappointed in the way things have turned out regarding our main couple it feels like everyone only understands as me crying over not enough romantic scenes like some silly teenager.
And omg your first para…that’s me too! I was totally obsessed to the point of getting dreams about the drama and I had also started rewatching the episodes which is so unlike me.

I so agree! I myself don’t watch Romance only genres. There are far too many shows that I have loved which had very less to no romance. The problem here is that the tone set in the first 3-4 episodes did make me believe this was going to be a drama with a generous dose of romance along with the main concept of food. And I loved it for exactly that because the leads complement each other so greatly. It’s been a great letdown for me honestly.
The last 3 episodes were just stuck on the food competition with almost zero progress on any other aspect. Even the main villain- Consort Kang feels like a measly side character who feels more like a nagging mild pain in the tooth than anything really dangerous or worth giving importance.
The first 4-5 episodes built so much anticipation regarding everything not just romance that it sometimes feels like I am not even watching the same show anymore, lol.
However, preview for episode 10 seems interesting and like things are finally picking up. Let’s hope the rest of the episodes will make up for the time lost and in a good, satisfying way.

Oh my! I started this drama not realising it was 20 episodes!!!!
I liked the first episode, although I was somewhat confused as the tone suddenly shifted to comedy after that intense beginning. However, it’s engaging and entertaining.
I will come back and post my review if and when I finish the series.

Lol agree. Best approach would be to scroll away through the comments that one doesn’t align with or finds annoying. But if people with difference of opinions are discussing something without fighting, let them instead of making a fuss.

I am kind of with you on this. My God the first 5 episodes were so good that I felt hypnotised by this drama. But episode 6 onwards it is feeling stagnant. Seriously, I was so excited for this show and used to look forward to the episodes like a silly fool in love , but I am feeling disappointed at the moment.
The food and all is great but it feels like we’re going nowhere. The romance which is was one of it’s main assets has been relegated to the sidelines and it’s a shame.

The romance is ABSOLUTELY necessary! I wouldn’t watch this show if there was none. In fact it’s not enough for me atp. And I am sure many are interested in this show due to the romance angle specially since the leads have electrifying chemistry.
