Yeah, for me, this drama is a "what could have been" series. Because it was put in the 8pm domestic timeslot, it had to be a 'family drama' and thus all the bloat built into the 50 episode requirement, plus all the elders stuff.

The mothers were written as terrible people, I agree, which I thought was strange, but the FL mom was the WORST. Right up there with the runaway mom in Apple of my Eye who came back to use her kid as an organ donor.

I really liked the chemistry of the leads, I think this could have made a really good 16 episode office rom-com (like Love Scout, Business Proposal, etc) as long at it was on a different network in a non-family timeslot where the writers weren't so confined by KBS's rules. Or, a slimmed down 36 episode family drama, like Iron Family, with some severe editing.

For me, I've been burned by KBS too many times and will not go all-in unless they really hook me. I jumped out of Our Golden Days after ep 5, the ML infuriated me as he was such a loser...and Live your Own Life held no interest for me either.

Anyhow, here's hoping the next one is at least as good as this one was.

It was interesting to see what happens when the writers have an entire episode to close out a series. About the only thing that disappointed me was that MinSeo was not brought back - I thought for sure EB would have called her to tell her how hard a time her mom was having and she'd have flown back for some comfort (albeit briefly). Oh well.

The scenes showing grandpa going into surgery and the white light at the end was really good. And the post time-jump with WJ holding the baby was REALLY clever: Who's kid was it? At first I'd hoped it was his & EB, then we were tempted with it being FL/ML kid, but no, somehow it was Uncle/Aunty. The thing with the grandpa disappearing to roam the countryside post-surgery was kinda odd, but OK. The family portrait scene where EB declares her love for WJ looked like it was pulled from the end scene of "Once Again", LOL! And finally, the ending scene, which was a mirror to the opening scene in Ep1 was a nice was a nice way to put a ribbon on the series.

In retrospect I think the writers did a good job, given what they had to work with. This series had too much bloat in it, due to the 50 episode length, but that isn't news with KBS family-weekenders anymore.

I really appreciate the writers having enough consideration for the audience to pace the series so we get a proper wind-down starting with Ep49. It was nice to see the wedding take place now, and we a whole final episode to get the loose ends tied up. I've seen too many KBS weekenders rush to the end with 20 mins (at best) in the final episode to finish off the story-lines. Bravo to whomever did the outline and storyboards for this to properly give us the closing we need after being invested with these characters for the last 6 months.

And I'll give the writers props, too, for being consistent with Dr. Han's nasty character flaws: even though SeRi apologized and begged her to let their kids marry, she STILL wouldn't accept it until she talked to her partner-in-hate (her MIL). What a scene that was....sheesh.

It's funny, of all the characters I'll remember in this series, her control-freakish nature that alienated her daughter, drove her son to depression and anxiety, and her repeated threats to divorce her husband all while hypocritically dispensing couples-therapy advice was a new low for me in supporting characters. I feel sorry for Hyun Bin for getting her for a MIL.

I think it was shown in Ep 1 or 2 where she was shown doing her TV show. I prefer the alternate description of "Prescription for Love", since she's a Doctor.

Yeah, we could see this coming a mile away, even though he has a nice apartment near work that would fit them fine. Such is life in KBS family-dramaland.

The Baek arc's only redeeming factor was that it was a plot device to keep the leads in a storyline that had become too crowded with the kidnapping thing. Since the only point in the kidnapping arc was that the enmity between the families was due to a mistaken belief, that should have been quickly dealt with to let the rest of the story grow.

But I keep telling myself that this a KBS "FAMILY" drama, so it is what it is. If it were shown in the later prime-time (930pm) time-slot they could have written it as the Office Rom-Com that it should have been all along. oh well.....

For me, this was a great weekend of episodes. We finally got back to the lead's story and their supporting cast at the office.

This proves to me that they should have wrapped up the whole Grandpa kidnapping thing back before Ep 25, to give the rest of the story and cast time to grow. We would have had more time to see the relationship between the youngest couple plus the cop/nurse wouldn't be side-lined either.

With the right editing, this would have been a great series at about 36 episodes (same reaction I had to 3 Bold Siblings).

Both the actress and the character she plays are the most 'real' of the cast for me. She is phenomenal, and kudos to the writers for letting her character grow, instead of just being background furniture. Seeing her cry alone in her room was tough to watch.

Between the glasses and hairstyle, Wang BitNa is almost unrecognizable.

Absolutely, she was a horrible character in Suji & Uri! What's funny to me is that the crazy woman (Grandpa's abductor) was the heroine in Korea-Khitan War...what a switch for these 2 fine actresses!

If you look at all the good Office Rom-Coms (Whats wrong w. Secy Kim, Love Scout, Her Private life, Business Proposal, off the top of my head),they were either on SBS or tvN. KBS, being the govt-owned and operated media, only pushes the family stuff on the weekends at least. I can't think of a rom-com on KBS that was any good.

Yep. I've never seen a bigger waste of talent and chemistry for lead characters who have so much potential as in this series. Add in the whole office team and we have the seed for a great 'office rom-com' but that aint gonna happen on KBS,much less on a weekender. Maybe SBS or TVN, but not KBS.

Well, I guess we're supposed to forget that 'grandpa' appeared in Ep 1, was ID'd by Ms. Na and even had his "wife" with him but he (and his wife) denied being Ms Na's husband. Maybe this is explained in Ep 30?

If it really was Yoon Bak, that would make sense, his character was very popular in Eagle Bros. Otherwise, it's kind of an odd cameo.

That's why it was such a weird scene....they DIDN'T show the label or product name clearly, so how would the buyer know what brand to get?

In Ep 37, at the 17 minute mark, there was a brief scene at the mattress shop where a customer walked in and they did what looked like a product-placement bit for some kind of pain-relief spray (except that they never showed the product name or label). That whole thing was weird and simply a set up for Hyun Bin to enter the store to talk to his SeRi. The reason I bring it up, was to ask if that actor who portrayed the customer in that brief scene also played the professor in "For Eagle Brothers" (Yoon Bak)?
