If you look at all the good Office Rom-Coms (Whats wrong w. Secy Kim, Love Scout, Her Private life, Business Proposal, off the top of my head),they were either on SBS or tvN. KBS, being the govt-owned and operated media, only pushes the family stuff on the weekends at least. I can't think of a rom-com on KBS that was any good.
PLEASE ANSWER: are ML-FL still broken up? I am getting that idea from reading the comments... hello again, my…
Yep. I've never seen a bigger waste of talent and chemistry for lead characters who have so much potential as in this series. Add in the whole office team and we have the seed for a great 'office rom-com' but that aint gonna happen on KBS,much less on a weekender. Maybe SBS or TVN, but not KBS.
Well, I guess we're supposed to forget that 'grandpa' appeared in Ep 1, was ID'd by Ms. Na and even had his "wife" with him but he (and his wife) denied being Ms Na's husband. Maybe this is explained in Ep 30?
In Ep 37, at the 17 minute mark, there was a brief scene at the mattress shop where a customer walked in and they did what looked like a product-placement bit for some kind of pain-relief spray (except that they never showed the product name or label). That whole thing was weird and simply a set up for Hyun Bin to enter the store to talk to his SeRi. The reason I bring it up, was to ask if that actor who portrayed the customer in that brief scene also played the professor in "For Eagle Brothers" (Yoon Bak)?
I think the 8.4 rating here is just about right. This was a really good series and quite interesting with the development of FL character. But for me, the ending was disappointing: it seems they must have cut a lot out (won't give out spoilers) that would have been crucial to the story. Eps 11 & 12 should have been thought out better. Otherwise, I was amazed at what the budget must have been with all different location shoots. Visually, the production was top-notch. There were a couple of odd things: In scenes where the leads are together, and the shot angle is from behind him (looking down, over his shoulder) she is not looking at him, but at the camera. Director or DP should have caught that.
Other than that, definitely worth watching, even if you're wondering "Why is Chief Hong a translator now?" (LOL).
The funny thing is, she even KNOWS she's a control freak and admitted as much to the grandma. For a counselor,…
This is why I dislike her character the most. The way she manipulates her kids and family despite knowing she shouldn't makes her the worst character in the series for me. Some "doctor" she is....sheesh.
only if seongmi wants ... the FL is aloud to date the ML !!! ... and she wont.only if seongmi wants ... her son…
The funny thing is, she even KNOWS she's a control freak and admitted as much to the grandma. For a counselor, she's amazingly un-selfaware since she's not willing to fix her own flaws while supposedly helping others.
All I can say this was a powerful weekend of episodes and a turning point for the series. And a great sign for this series, as this is about when KBS weekenders tend to fall apart. The minute the missing grandpa looked at the guitar, I couldn't help but smile given the actor's musical background.
does ML have only 1 parent , a father , in the drama [dongik] ..??
Correct. They were going to start the process to have SeRi adopt Eun Bin & HyunBin. To do this, they need to contact the birth mother and that story line dropped cold with Bucket's suspicion of SeRi.
We were told the birth mother walked out after being 'mistreated' by Bucket. I presume this was shortly after EunBin's birth(?)
Glad they didn’t wait until the last episodes to solve the mystery of the missing grandparents. So what’s…
HyunBin told us he had an opportunity for closure with his Birth Mother already, before he returned to Korea, while EunBin has not, and it seems this is still an issue for her. The mother's return would be her last loose end and an opportunity for Woo Jae to help her deal with it, thus bringing them back together.
I agree with this, I don’t like se ri. but her devotion to that family is amazing. she at least deserve a slack
THIS. I absolutely agree with you. I'd love to see an interview with the writers about how they write her character. She's not the typical evil stepmom/MIL we're so used to seeing in Dramaland. She's a very nuanced character with many sides, some admirable (devotion to her husband's family in many ways) and some rotten in how she deals with other's she feels is a threat.
That scene in her bedroom with SeRi blew me away.....And although the character of SeRi leaves a lot to be desired, the actress playing her is amazing as well. She was outstanding from the last half of the episode to the end scene, which was just about perfect, beginning with the gulp/automatic blink when she saw Min Seo, to when her emotions overcame her when "Veronica" called her Mom. I've watched that scene 3 times, and it's just exceptional.
Wow, 32 was great but a tear-jerker at the end. Once again, the actress playing EunBin hits it out of the park. I'm convinced now that they are going to give her more to do, by bringing in her birth mom, prolly towards the end of the series to give more angst to SeRi who will reflexively feel threatened by her. Probably won't last for more than 1-3 episodes, but will be something to spice up the story.
PS- who is playing Director Baek? I've seen him before but can't place him, and the cast info here on MDL does not include him.
