I cant even think about this drama right now because i am pissed.
But, the speculation here on what's going on is TERRIFIC. I love it! You all are coming up with some pretty wild ideas that would make for a great spinoff series!
I want SD to let her have it. With both barrels. It was disgusting to watch how YJ and HD were fawning over all…
SD is the key for me (both for entertainment purposes and for how this may be resolved).
If SJ tries bribing him with gifts too (like she did for YJ/HD) at first he'll be impressed, but in his mind he'll do the comparative math: Chaebol Princess vs. an ex-DIL he knows nothing about, who can afford gifts. MR wins every time.
Then, when he hears the news about JD's lineage, he'll go ballistic and go after HD who will plead innocence because she didn't know either. He'll then let KS have it (deservedly so) and try to straighten him out to go to MR (SD's meal ticket) and forget SJ and her family for once and for all. Problem is, KS rarely takes his fathers advice (he usually follows HD's orders) so I'm not optimistic that this is the kick-in-the-ass KS needs.
I had such high hopes that this was going to be a drama I would really like just by reading the synopsis. When…
Unfortunately, 'wishy-washy' is the perfect description for KS. He's never had to make an important decision in his life. He just stumbles and bumbles along, bowing to and desperately trying to please everyone he comes into contact with. His most important decisions, regarding raising JD, are made by HD. He just agrees with them. The only thing he ever needs to decide is what part-time job he'll take next to keep shoveling money to that family. He can't be firm with anyone, and even JD ignores him because she knows he will always cave.
IF they marry, MR has to realize that she will be the one calling the shots for the rest of their life. He'll willingly do everything she tells him, but that she's the one wearing the pants in the family, including keeping JD on the straight-and-narrow. This is why, she needs to propose to him (for real) and drag him to the borough office to get the marriage registered. Then they can deal with the fallout of all this as a team, because he can't be trusted to do it on his own. And he can't even bring himself to take her to a quiet place and tell her about SJ's return, and then inform her family about it too. SIGH.
After chatting with Sher1264, I now think that SJ was brought in just as revenge against KS not to break MR/KS…
I kind-of agree. I watched the last few eps again last nite, concentrating on the dongy/YJ interactions. Maybe it's my inherent distrust of him, but if SJ is truly here as part of a plot, he's the one behind it, not his father. That bit with the coffee cup at a critical time really, really bugs me.
I just don't think it's revenge though. His feelings for MR were marginal, at best. Remember, his goals still haven't been achieved. He wasn't just about taking over HDF (that was his Dad's goal)- he used that as a means for payback on CR for what he perceives as her actions driving his mom to her death. You just don't give up on that (avenging your mom's death), so easily.
So, somehow, to him, bringing in SJ will serve that - I'm just not sure how. Unless he simply needs to de-stabilize things and keep KS out of the way and tied up with SJ for as long as possible. His long-game is to hurt CR.
At least it seems they will discuss her feet tomorrow, that should put the "is she an imposter" questions to rest.
How do these people not read the faces of HD and YJ? They make it so obvious they are hiding something. KS still…
This is one of my pet peeves in Kdramas. Like, DUHHHH, why are you looking like that???? We see this all the time in TRHC too.
The other thing that kills me is something dramatic happening in a public place and nobody in the background notices or does anything. (like the ice-rink scene in TRHC where they both fall down and everyone else just skates by them as if nothing happened). Thankfully, we haven't had that kind of scene here.
😂 I like that my imagination is fertile. So let me start on what I think about the questions you raised:JD’s…
I just re-watched that scene. To me, it seems she's like.....so finally, there he is. Then she puts her hand over her heart as if to calm it down. I felt it is a normal reaction to seeing her 'husband' for the first time in 10 years.
YES! I suggested this the other day. He isn't capable of it, but he needs to realize something weird is going…
I still think she is SJ. The amount of plastic surgery would be pretty intense to be so believable. And she has the correct voice - this would be impossible for them to duplicate. But this is dramaland....The sheer amount of conspiracy to pull off what you and Loelha suspect is worthy of it's own series. It can't just be big dong - little D, CR, at least also.
I've watched that scene with them on the park bench (SJ, HD, YJ) several times now. She almost cries....almost. She also seems to know about what has been going on, but I'm guessing JD must have filled her in during the times they've met. My favorite part is YJ's body language - she's pissed and can't believe SJ for a second. Stay strong, YJ!
MR and KS just need to go register their marriage in secret so they can get this witch to let go of KS. They can…
YES! I suggested this the other day. He isn't capable of it, but he needs to realize something weird is going on. MR will have to suggest it, for sure. They can register it on the down-low and keep it quiet until the news is needed.
One thing I forgot the mention that was bugging me: DH looked like he knew or recognized SJ when she was talking to HD/YJ in the greenbelt. He even glanced back at her. But he only saw her backside, and maybe profile at best, in the dark. What was that all about? Was she involved in the SK underworld when he was? How does that fit into the US Passport & her narrative? Too many questions!!
At least they found a polo shirt for KS to wear!!!!
So, another good but bewildering episode. The good news is that they aren't dallying around; things are happening fast. The bad news is that too much is being skipped over in the process. For instance, I've never liked how they brought SJ back, BOOM, just like that. We know she's been stalking JD (knows her dress size, etc) so why haven't we seen a mysterious woman lurking in the background? Yet here she is, and already in today's episode she meets KS. Obvious question is when does KS tell MR about this. PLEASE don't hide it from her, KS.
SJ is being cagey about her past. She's never really explained her faking death. Or what happened after. Or how she is so well-off (thank goodness YJ is at least questioning things). I mean, HD walks into a luxury apartment where SJ lives and says NOTHING?
Is it really her? Well, I think so, but it really bugs me that they put all this weight on her feet being so distinctive and yet, still nothing about it. As far as YJ goes, it appears she was never that close with SJ? Have they even told the other sister in Canada? (In retrospect, it is kind of interesting that character didn't fly back to SK for the funeral).
I'll leave the Grand Conspiracy Theories to Loelha and Sher, they have a much more fertile imagination than me. At this point, something stinks. But I still can't make sense of what is really going on.
@Sher1264 and I have raked this whole thing over the coals until you’d think it would have burned up by now.…
My problem with the 'break up him and MR' scenario is: let's say that they convince KS to give up on MR for the sake of JD. Then what? SJ leaves and goes back to the States (because you know she ain't staying to play mommy to a 15 year old, and she isn't smitten with KS either) . So KS goes back to MR and they pick up the pieces. Do they really think that in that interval littleDong will be able to marry MR? SJ aint staying in Korea that long.
But I do agree there's more here than meets the eye. I wish you and Sher were writing this show, it would have a lot more intrigue and depth than what we've seen so far.
