Not even that I'm afraid. There are small changes in some character names too. Elise was called Iris . Lin xaioyu was lin xao xue. And JQF never had an english name😆

Actually they don't show his past much in the novel too. His friend recounted all this to LKS once so that she can better understand JQF. But i do agree with you on one thing. They should've sticked with the novel. It was a lot less complicated. Elise was never his gf and although she liked him she never hurted him. For her cousin, forget about participating in the competition she didn't even knew how to cook. And there was no character of boris😂 Instead the story was of LKS on her road to becoming a top chef with the help of JQF and falling in love with each other while at it😃🙂

😭😭😭 buckets of tears in todays eps. Both JQF and LKS are in so much pain. I'm so mad at Elise, how can…
In the novel he became blind after the age of 18 because of tumor. He had just became famous back then. But after losing his sight he secluded himself for 8 years practicing cooking so that he can once again reach the top. So when LKS met him he was already a top chef and well adjusted to being blind. And no, he never lost his sense of taste in the novel. The script writer is very cruel here. I also think that they are making the story a lot more complicated unnecessarily.

Not really. Although he was cold and indifferent he never lost his temper without any reason. Because he was blind his other senses were a little sharp, especially his hearing. So he would be angry when she made any sound. But from the beginning itself he made a lot of exceptions for her. And he was very patient with her. Tbh I really can't stand the ML in the drama. He always takes out his anger on Ke Song without any reason. He is too much temperamental. It makes me miss the expressionless JQF in the novel😒

Can someone who has read the novel tell me will Oliver get his taste back?
In the novel JQF never lost his taste. But he was blind from the start and never recovered. Still the novel was a lot less complicated compared to the drama.

Looking at all the comments I'm grateful that i took a break. I'm not gonna watch until the leads get together so that I'll hv some kind of motivation to watch all those frustrating eps.

I want to ask if any of you have read the novel. Is Ke Song also being a doormat there? I'm sad that Ke Song almost…
In the novel her cousin was jst an arrogant teenager from new york (the story takes place in america and not Shanghai like in the drama). So although she looked down on Ke song for her dressing and all she was not excessive. And later she even started admiring her. So there was no chance for Ke Song to be a doormat. Also she had a determined and tough character unlike the one in drama. Idk why but the Ke Song in the drama seems like a kid sometimes...

Title Cupid's Kitchen Spoiler
Watch it as it's own story and don't compare it with the novel.
First of all I have only seen 12 eps. So there might be more. I would jst list the major changes..

- The story is in Shanghai not in NY.
- The way they meet for the first time is different.
- He is not blind but is loosing his sense of taste which is intentionally caused by Elise (aka Iris).
- Elise is his ex but still works as his hotel manger . She is too much possessive and wants him back but he refused.
- Montgomery is dead ( I really liked him in the novel)
- Mrs Quentin and Chu ting are both nice (as of now)
- Dr Xie has a crush on Elise
- Song Yiran doesn't have any problem with his bro other than that he is too controlling.
- He is still their neighbor but lives with Chu ting.
- Lin Xiaoyu ( her cousin ) is also participating in the competition and is envious of Kesong for having JQF as her mentor.
-Her mentor is also JQF's enemy(a new character)
- More than anything the character setting of JQF is different. He is not cold but temperament. Sometimes i think it's good as he smiles and jokes a lot but most of the time i still prefer that expressionless JQF with his weird habits. Atleast he was more calm and sensible.

Now you know why I see this as a whole new different story....🥴

Can anyone tell me how the drama compares with the novel? This is one of my favorite novels, so I am kinda scared…
So far i still prefer the novel. It's unnecessarily a lot more complicated here. But tbh if we don't compare this with the novel and start watching this as a new story it's quite good. And this is like a new story as they have changed quite a lot of key points...

what was the main characteristic?
In the novel he was not only aloof but a total expressionless iceberg . Even after they got together the number of times he smiled can be counted with one hand..
Actually him being blind was the main highlight of that novel. Being a master chef even though he can't see really made him stand out from his competitors. And yes it heightened his sense of taste too . There were times were we actually doubt whether he was blind or not. It also explained a lot of his cold behavior. It's a pity they changed the plot here..

OMG!!! Don't put any ideas in my head. I won't be able to sleep tonight🥴 But now that u mention it, this really seems possible. I think I've seen similar plot twists in other dramas....
