love the first 4 episodes!!! high quality type drama that keeps you interested and it's super rare for me to like the FL so early on and not just the ML, they both do great, I will definitely say these first few eps are the build up and I think eps 5 looks like when our leads will finally get more and more screen time together 😍impressed since i thought it looked boring and was annoyed for some reason by the trailer, but what do you know, it surprised me
I just checked the cast & crew list and was pleasantly surprised that the director, Zeng Qing Jie, directed some great short dramas like Butterflied Lover, Provoke, A Familiar Stranger, and The Killer Is Also Romantic. No wonder the directing and the cinematography, especially like the war scene in Ep 1, are so beautifully and dramatically done.

I’m glad this page is up finally; and ppl can see the ratings and whatnot. Hopefully the rest of my edits will be approved soon and we can move on from there. I hope the people that watch the original show do remember to watch the extra episode because it’s super important to the rest of the show as well. I personally never review the extra episodes from shows, I just consider it part of the show so you won’t see my review here but I’m glad other people are reviewing it. I also think it’s the largest extra episode I’ve seen from any show as usually they are no more than 5 to 10 minutes long.
Started off good for me, got boring after ep 18 - sooo didnt care for much of the Youngzhou story arc - the vapid songstress ladies, starting her business, greedy businessmen - just blah for me - picked up again towards the end when they got back to the mystery of the pearl and smoking out the bad guys. I also just the investing so much time and energy into a story and the characters just to have them have bad endings - I feel cheated. But, hey, thats just me. I think I would have enjoyed this much more if they had stuck to the chase for the pearls and why everyone wanted them - which involves why the Yan's were killed and framed. I get it though - this was supposed to be about her journey from slave girl to prominent businesswoman - but it just felt like they spent 18 episodes all about the blood pearl and his family and then completely shifted gears after 18episodes. First half is kind of exciting, second half - not so much.
