Just finished this and let's just say my head hurts with what a hot mess this script is. There is nothing more I hate than when writers/directors think we are just stupid. I had so much second hand embarrassment for the actors (especially the first half) that their time and talents were put through this. SOOOO many plot holes and stupid plot tricks - mostly to get FL always in the middle of things) - with most of the time, just made no sense. Another female lead character that gets introduced to us as a doctor and a has martial arts skills and then rapidly devolves into a damsel-in-distress character - mostly because they just had her doing stupid shit cause she thought she could be 'helpful' or thought she was being clever and could solve stuff, just plain nosey in really dumb spots and wouldn't listen to anyone - which then ALWAYS caused her to have to be rescued. It just became too annoying after a awhile Also the weird (to me) thing they do with grown women- super childish behavior (she was a doctor and a business woman ffs - stop making her act like a 12 yr old., and yet...), super cheerful and upbeat -which never works for me given her childhood trauma - she doesn't need to be negative or super-dark, but would definitely have more edge to her and not be overly optimistic about EVERYTHING. No real chemistry between main leads - I mean they were kind of cute - but mostly a miss on this front. 2nd and third couples were way more interesting. Fight scenes were petty good But, overall, even with LYX mostly holding this up - I would not recommend this one to folks.
I’m back again with more nickels to spend. if I had a nickel for each time one of Luo Yunxi’s characters has brought the deed to his girlfriends house so she can live in it, I’d have two nickels. Which isn’t a lot, but I seem to be collecting a lot of nickels lately 😂 The fact he also owns the deed to her business too so she can open up her cosmetics shop again is just making me nod and go ‘ah yes, Love is Sweet energy right there’.
It was a good show but not happy how the show weny down I wanted Xiangliu to be more vocal and do better ... ugh Wish they would of just aired everything one-time last year . I know it's based on a book not much could have changed but dang !!! Other than that shout out to Yang zi.. All the cast did a good job ...
This drama has left such an impact on my heart and no other drama has done this to me before. All of the characters just weaved together to make the perfect ensemble and I am sad to see them go. I was rooting for TSJ and XY from the beginning so I was overjoyed to see them finally be together and go their own way. They deserve it after all of the heart ache and TSJ is exactly want XY needs. He is kind and gentle and made me smile whenever he was on screen. however, I still felt for CX and his yearning. I cried for Feng Long and bawled for XL who really grew on me as the show went on and who has left a giant hole in my heart. XY is a complex character, as they all are, who can now live her life in peace as she wants without constraints and threats that have tied her down her entire life. XY lost XL. CX lost Fenglong and XY. TSJ and XY are together forever. It was a bittersweet ending, but this show was a masterpiece. Perhaps my favorite out of all of the k dramas, c dramas, j dramas, and even American shows I have watched. Definitely my top c drama ever! I will miss XY, CX, TSJ, XL, Fenglong, Nian, Ru Shou, the Emperors, and all of the others (besides Xing yue, TSH and Yiying) for years to come and will continue to rewatch again and again. Thank you LYF for an enjoyable and heartfelt ride.
This could have easily been wrapped up in 40 episodes. Splitting it into S1 and S2, allows for comparison which they shouldnt be compared as it was filmed at once and having the long wait in between did not help the show at all. Also I feel it would have flowed better if it were only 40 episodes and we wouldn't have some scenes which were straight up boring (for me anyway).
And I know this is a romance heavy drama, but for me it was missing some impact in the wuxia/martial arts aspect, other than the fact it was set in the martial world and had some beautiful scenery. Was hoping CX and TJ to have at least a few impactful fight scenes with magic or whatever, but they was pretty bland. Only XL's final battle they put some effort in it - thank god for that.
Side note: XY too foolish for XL anyway, she got her boring peaceful life she wanted when she gave in to her trauma of loneliness and chose the safest option. While XL gets to go down in history as the greatest lover and a powerful general that deserved the respect even from his enemies. Although he was born alone at the start, he changed his fate and did not die alone (in the non-romantic sense) and made sure his life had a purpose, and will be remembered by everyone.
Biggest downside of the show is XY never finding out the extent of XL's love and all that he did for her. If she knew everything do you think she would drop Jing in a heartbeat and run XL? Guess we will never knooooooww for sure lol.
I have never cried so much, even starting from episode 2 about the deceased soldier and his wife, until the end…
Thanks for joining us in this drama.. love your comments. :) Yeah just a great case of the strong meeting the strong (and damn faithful at that.. he is such a rock!)
I have never cried so much, even starting from episode 2 about the deceased soldier and his wife, until the end when Feng Lai agreed to become the Fire Seal (the first time). I didn't know Lin Geng Xin could be so funny. I'm glad that Mo Fang did not betray his love for Sheng Li, so he did not turn evil. I'm glad that there was an episode 39, so the drama did not end with episode 38, and there was a piece of happily ever after with Sheng Li and Xing Zhi. I really liked Sheng Li's character, but even a strong warrior like her fell for the only man who can protect her...
not what I've been waiting for this long.
