can I watch S3 Direct without watching s2 or is it connected?
You're welcome! Just in case I will tell you about the few kinda important things that happened in S2 in a nutshell so you won't feel confused when watching S3. 1- Yi Kyung gives birth to a child, a girl and she is a special humanoid monster who can control normal monsters, can see into humans memories and turn them into monsters too by touching them with her hands. She grew up quickly in few months and now she looks about 11 or 12 years old.
2- Hyun Su can see transformed monster's memories and help them return to humans too at times by helping them fight against their illusions which they be seeing while in monster form.
3- Survived humans end up living together in a stadium, protected by an army gang. Only likeable soldier with a decent personality is a young cute one whom you will be seeing a lot in S3 helping Hyun Su and Eun Yu. Other soldiers aren't evil but one dimensional.
4- Eun Yu's glasses older brother transformed into a cocoon then was reborn from it in his adult form and turned into a neohuman (humans that are reborn from monster cocoons, they look normal but got super speed, strength, and immortality. They are fast learners and keep their past memories but got zero emotions. Actually this part get explained in S3 anyways).
5- Evil half monster guy from S1 who took that thug guy's body is Yi Kyung's husband and her daughter father. He turned into monster then became the government lab rat along with other half monsters then managed to change bodies and escaped before heading to the apartments complex in which S1 events took place. He goes back to the lab in S2 to save other lab rats to make them his followers. That's about it, hope it helps.
can I watch S3 Direct without watching s2 or is it connected?
Well, I'm not the one you asked but I just finished S2 and honestly nothing much happened in it so you can skip it if you want to. Even Song Kang barley has screen time in S2...the whole season was wasted on like 20 new unlikable and boring ass characters .
100% this (except for the dew was annoying at first part). You’ve pinpointed everything wrong with the second…
Sorry for the late reply. I was offline for more than a year and thank you for agreeing with my opinion. Exactly! I can't stand lazy and illogical writing.
dropped your review at point 1. speaking of boring…
Sorry for the late reply. I have been offline since more than a year. Ok then, don't continue reading if you don't want to. You have the right to spend your time reading something more fun elsewhere or check out other reviews that you might find likeable. have a nice day!
Soo is there much romance? And is the bromance strong? Also i love ur username
Sorry for late reply. There is romance but it got about 1% attention in the story so it's not a problem. The bromance is pretty good actually. Also thanks a lot! :)
The male actor is 46 years old. The female actress is 25. It is 20+ yo gap, she's young enough to be his daughter.…
I get your point, yes it's cool if it's between adults and is healthy, but to me personally I can't handle huge gaps, I would never get in such a relationship myself, but most of the times when it's quite the huge age gap, it turns out to be a sugar baby and sugar mommy/daddy relationship lmao since most young people wouldn't bother look to someone who is as old as their parents or grandparents unless it's for profit.
I overall didn't like this drama that much, nor cared about any of the characters including FL. The villains were cartoonish evil to me honestly (Actors done great, no issue with their acting), their writing was just meh.
Them always cursing, acting vulgar, and saying crap to each other then still acting like friends was also cliché as hell. Like someone doesn't need to constantly swear to be a really evil person. Their writing was super shallow and they all made me feel grossed by how retarded and uninteresting they were.
The revenge felt hollow to me, it didn't feel satisfying and the FL first seemed like she was gonna be really twisted and brutal with her revenge, acting and dressing like a grim reaper all day long, but nope...most of them didn't really suffer as much as her, maybe only Jae Jun since he got blind then died in a gross way, but his death wasn't even thanks to her, she just made him blind. Even that perverted thug death was done by others.
They just tried to make her as tragic as possible by adding everyone harassing her and trying to become hurdles in her way from her mother to even that creepy pedophile teacher. Basically everyone in the drama was miserable and had massive issues going on with them. That woman with abusive husband, that landlord lady who wanted to kill herself, that teacher who had to leave her job...etc Like the writers tried so hard to make it depressing that it lost it's affect completely.
The ML revenge also wasn't that grand, I don't know the plot felt messy and rushed. They all felt like kids playing a game.
And goddamn don't get me started on the romance between the leads, that romance was so forced and pointless! Like why? FL clearly is way older than ML, when in plot they are supposed to be kinda close in age, that bugs me but I could pass it if they actually had chemistry and the romance made sense in the plot, but nope, it was cringe and toxic as hell.
They both got serious PTSD, mental issue, and are suicidal, why make them a couple?! They need a good amount of therapy and after that maybe dating someone who doesn't suffer from similar issues to emotionally support them, I don't agree of this misery loves company mindset, putting two utterly broken people together isn't romantic at all. Love doesn't cure mental disorders that easily.
The ML's quick and grand obsession with FL was a clear sign of how messed up his mental state is, the fact that his mother even admitted that he would kill himself if FL dies and went as far as basically begging her to stay with him, like damn! If you know your son is that fucked up then try to make him get over it, don't just let him be to suffer quietly and do weird things, then expect someone else to live forever playing the role of his emotional crutch. And that someone happens to be mentally crippled themselves lmao it's like putting two fully paralyzed people in a room and expecting them to manage to take care of each other somehow on their own.
Even when they kissed or said I love to each other the FL looked dead inside and the ML didn't feel that convincing. That ending of them saying that shit then walking into the prison made me cringe so fucking hard.
Also most of these dark drama genres (Horror, thriller, crime...etc) end up getting ruined by the stupid romance at some point. Would rather they just focus on the revenge and ditch anything else. If the romance has a major role in the plot the sure why not, yeah many dramas got dark and creepy psychologically romance plots, but since they are the focus they don't get as tedious as the one in Glory. They could literally get rid of the romance here and the plot won't suffer, instead it will be better.
The FL seemed more matched with Do Young both age and personality-wise. but still both the ML and Do Young seemed to mostly get attracted to her at start due to her beauty, then ML got all clingy and obsessed after he realized she was a fellow psycho whom he can also be his true psycho self with. Do Young got charmed by her mature, intelligent, and mysterious vibe, which is the opposite of his dumb wife.
Other thing that bothered me was the pointless nude scenes (Especially one with the slut, was her name Hae Young or Hae Jeong?) showing her boobs, I'm all for nudity and sex scenes when again they make sense, which wasn't the case her, it was just for fan service and shock value. This isn't a drama about porn/sex workers, sexual crimes, nor mature and kinky romance so why?! She is quite hot though to be fair, and indeed got nice boobs, and I will guess the actress was comfortable enough with it which is great, all power to her, but I just hate pointless stuff. Many of Netflix related Asian shows lately along with many supposedly "artistic" movies tend to have the same issue of having nude (Of mostly women bodies, boobs to be exact) and sex scenes out of the blue and making everyone act in a very odd ways.
The male actor is 46 years old. The female actress is 25. It is 20+ yo gap, she's young enough to be his daughter.…
Oh, the actress is of my same age! Damn and he is like 5 years younger than my mom ...well, that's disgusting! Like there are plenty of hot actors of closer age out there so why?! Also are they supposed to have the same ages in the plot? If that's so then I guess I might skip this drama. I personally would never bother dating someone who is more than 4 years older than me, but I could understand others dating someone up to 10 years older (As long as both are adults), but this is just too much lol
Oh, an average and overly long movie, with an average, repetitive, mostly boring plot and ending. Not gonna lie at some point I almost fell sleep. The lighting made my eyes hurt, it was a bit too bright and hazy. Leads acting was passable at best, and they barley had chemistry. Seriously though, why 98% of FLs in Japanese romance shows/animes got short hair?? The same damn hairstyle. They all look/dress the same, and have basically the same personality too. Same with MLs who are mostly cold and barley talk. Only character I was a bit interested in was second ML. Anyway I personally wouldn't recommend this movie to anyone.
Well, I didn't know what to expect when watching this movie, but since both Satoh Takeru and Kubota Masataka which are among my top 10 Japanese actors are in it (And both looked hot as fuck with those hairstyles), I couldn't help but watch it instantly. Unsurprisingly the movie was actually good, and I enjoyed it quite a lot. Although I don't understand why the girl had to be a high schooler...when is that fetish gonna end in Japan seriously!
If ML was a fellow teen then I wouldn't nag, but it's almost always a minor girl and adult dude, it could be a college girl and an older dude instead. There is also that CEO or whatever he is supposed to be guy (Whom mari cheated on Aki with), who is also a total creep. He discovered Mari back when she was a student, then he sleeps with her later. What is this?! I personally would never view someone I knew since they were a minor that way even after they become an adult Lmao
The girl had the typical looks/personality we see in Japanese romance plots. She has the usual short hair that is preferably brown or light colored (Her hairstyle is ugly, but somehow the actress made it work on her so it looked decent, but on most people it will look hideous), cute and childish facial features (Which isn't a problem at all to clarify, I'm not bashing her looks, she is adorable and I know that's also the Japanese beauty standard, besides she is playing the role of a teen as well so it fits), high pitched voice, is "innocent", loud, dense, dull, has bland fashion style, and is utterly clumsy. Also she acts and talks in a kinda anime like way. But for some reason all the guys will get obsessed with her all of a sudden and fight over her cause she is "precious and special" and has the magical ability to heal mental issues of ML/make him change.
The whole "I will protect you from everything" out of the blue made me cringe. Like girl you just met him and you act as if he is your soulmate whom you dated for at least 5 years. Her singing voice was beautiful though, I enjoyed hearing her sing, not sure if that was the actress herself singing or not. They also had to add the misunderstanding thing between FL, ML, and Mari (Of course she had to be a crazy and selfish ex) so that FL will get depressed, avoid ML, then Shinya will get closer to her to piss of ML. Plus the scandal as another hurdle. They sure love doing that.
Anyway apart from the creepiness related to the age difference between the main leads, them falling for each other a bit too quick for my liking, and other clichés, they had good chemistry (Not great but good enough), and the romance between them was overall sweet I guess. Honestly I was mostly interested in the music aspects and the whole issues between Aki with his musical struggles and doubts, that shit producer, and the Crude Play band members than the romance, but they kinda forgot all about that in the end and decided to focus on the romance.
The songs they played in the movie were all great, will make sure to download them all later if I find them. The movie had a melancholy vibe to it that I liked. The stage name Mush was cute.
