Clichés? We don't know what that is

What makes this drama so special? For me personally, it was the lack of cliches. Our female lead can stand her ground, she isn't a damsel in distress who needs saving every time. She also knows what she wants. Our male lead, although younger he has proven just how mature he can be and how much he cares for her. As he said, "she can worry about beauty, I'll worry about her health". They are both willing to comprise.

When an issue presented itself instead of breaking up they dealt with it. I've seen many dramas that when an issue arises the first thought is always to break up because they think that's what's best for the other person. Like Lin Yang said, "I won't hurt him and I won't hurt myself". This drama presented a realistic view of a relationship.

They are childhood friends, she has seen him since he was a baby. He fell in love with her when he was 15, and saw her go through many breakups yet he never gave up. He knew what he wanted and he charged forwards for it. He never hesitated in showing his love for her.

Love triangle? yes but it's so light that you barely feel it's there and it got resolved halfway through the drama.
Annoying second female lead? yes, but he always made it clear and drew a bright red line between them which left no room for misunderstandings. Our female lead also stood her ground. Although annoying li tian came around.

Supportive parents? Yes, it would be weird if they didn't support them considering they wanted their kids to marry even before they were conceived. Plus they treated each other's children as their own.

Supportive bestfriends? Yes, there is no backstabbing. They felt like that ride-or-die type of friend.

I would recommend this drama. It's light but it still manages to portray a good relationship between the leads.

"Don't give up , don't become distant"

Overall this was a very good drama. It didn't have a complicated plot nor did it have villains. It had a very realistic ending, although it was a happy ending it showed that everyone's "happy ending" differs. I recommend watching it, it's a very light drama and every character has a good point about them but also bad ones, which makes the series more enjoyable.

One of my favorite things a character said was what Hyun Seung said during episode 16, "But now i know I cant always win in love, even when I've given it my all."

Some spoilers about the episodes!!!!!

I started this series expecting nothing, especially since most of the comments were about how creepy Hyun Seung was, but after watching it, I don't regret picking this series up. Yes at the beginning Huyn Seung was a bit creepy and stalkerish, but let's be honest how many of us haven't acted at least a bit stalkerish towards someone we had a crush on. The way he broke the news to her was very crude, but after understanding her character better, I don't think she would have believed him if he didn't physically show her what was happening. He has also had a big character development since in the span of 8 episodes he went from stalkerish to knowing where the boundaries are. It's really nice seeing Yoon Song Ah slowly starting to fall for him.

Lee Jae Shin is a total jerk despite his past. Yes, he was unfortunate but he decided his own path. His excuse was that t was a plea disguised as an order. but he had a choice. He could have said "no" and he could have lost everything he had but he would have gained his freedom. His excuse was that he had no choice but I beg to differ, even when you're given an order there is always a choice, and it's up to you to decide what you want, and sadly he chooses his poison, which led to him losing Song Ah. It is even more repulsive to think about the fact that he was in a sense playing with both women, and that he planned to hide it from Song Ah.

At first, it thought Lee Hyo Joo was going to be the typical bratty spoiled rich girl, who was going to do everything in her power to destroy Song Ah after she had the tiniest doubt about her relationship with Jae Shin, yet during episode 8 she started to intrigue me.

EP011/12- I completely take back what I said about Hyo Joo, she is not stable. I don't if she expected Jae Ahin to drop to his knees and love her after she basically forced him to marry her by threatening him with her life. On the other hand, our main couple seems to be going strong. I loved all the small sweet moments. Also loved how Song Ah's team members stood by her side and stood up for her when the rumors were going around. I can't wait for Hyun Sung to meet his soon-to-be brother-in-law. I want to see their reactions since from what I see Hyun Sung doesn't know his sister is dating lee Jae Woon and Jae Won doesn't know Hyun Sun is his girlfriend's brother.
I also like how the ending of almost every episode is a heart-stopper, that leaves you wanting more.

13/14- For me these two episodes were depressing. I hate how they went towards the typical break-up before the ending episodes and then getting back together on the last one. I don't blame her for picking her dream job over her relationship after all they were both on different emotional levels in the relationship. Hyun Sung is obviously more emotionally invested since he was pinning over her for such a long time. The last scene on episode 14 where they were both on opposite sides and when he saw her he walked away broke my heart. I think he finally had the time to love himself more and out himself in the first place. It's obvious that for the next two episodes it's going to be her trying to get back together with him and they will probably get back together on the last episode if we are lucky they will get back together soon and if we are unlucky it will be typical they get together again on the last 10mn and it ends with a hug or kiss. On the other hand, jaewon and jiseung are so adorable together. I am glad they found each other. I felt so bad for the other sister though.

15/ Ok this episode was not that bad. I like that Jaewoon and Ji seung are getting married. I can tell the second sister and her husband will have us guessing until the end. The second leads seem more mature. Lee Hyo Joo also seemed like she learned how to draw the line and not depend on wanting a man to love her, seems like they will be back together. The only thing I disliked was again the whole breakup. It doesn't seem smart to add a breakup 2-3 episodes before the final one, it seems the last episode will just be song ah trying to win Huyn Seung over. And I get this was based on a webtoon but seriously the whole breakup is an overused cliche.

16/ This episode was very nicely wrapped up. I would have wished to see Jaewoon and Ji Seung's wedding, also I'm glad jae won and Jae Shin kinda fixed their friendship. Jae Shin and Hyo Joo also had a very good ending. Apart from Jae woon and ji seung it was hinted during the last scene that Huyn Seung and song ah were going to get married, again I would have loved to see their wedding and the reaction of their co-workers to them getting back together. Song Ah mom also had a big character growth, at the beginning we saw how dependent she was but in this episode, we finally saw her being independent and enjoying time with her friends. The second sister broke my heart, but I'm glad her ex-husband finally started to accept himself.

"Why do we fall? So we can learn to pick ourselves up." - Oh Mi Joo

This type of drama is hard to find. Every episode leaves you wanting more. The interactions between the characters feel real, every conversation makes the characters more human. Something that caught my eye from the beginning was how all the characters were introduced. As Yook Ji Woo (Seon Gyeom mom) introduces her next work she says "Its one of those love stories were one can be a nutjob (Seon Gyeom), a loser( Mi Joo), a psychopath (Dan Ah), and a piece of trash( Young Hwa) or someone's first love"
Up until now, it has no big misunderstanding, no over the top evil or annoying characters. Ki Seon Gyeom and Oh Mi Joo talk things out they leave no room for a misunderstanding to happen. One of the scenes that really surprised me was in the scene at the end of episode 7 and the beginning of 8, following a typical kdrama that was a perfect scene to make the leads fight or have a misunderstanding but our female lead doesn't walk away angry or crying instead she tells the dad that she knows her place because she has been there many times and takes the male lead with her. The way our second couple interacts is also fascinating, I cant wait to see how their story progresses.

This week's episodes really blew my mind (11 & 12), Dan Ah really blew my mind during these two episodes and what can I say about Young Hwa what he did was totally unexpected.
The breakup scene of Mi Joo and Seon Gyeom was really well written, he didn't invade her space, although it seems they really didn't break up. This is one of the first breakups that didn't get me mad because I understood how Mi Joo was feeling and so did Seo Gyeom and he gave her space to communicate how she felt.

Now that we are so close to the end, ill share my honest opinion. Up until now, there has been no toxic relationships or characters. Every character has a "job", they are all there for a purpose. Something I loved and I'm sure I've mentioned before is that the writer didn't rely on the typical cliches, they took a story and made it interesting without the need for absurd drama. While watching other shows, and I'm sure a lot of you will agree, sometimes I get frustrated at the choices some of the characters make since they seem to make no sense but up until now haven't felt any frustration. All the decisions seem to be appropriate and they are all realistic. I also like that they didn't do a love triangle, nor add annoying people who are more obsessed than in love with the leads. Instead, they too 4 characters and made a unique story for them without creating any rivalries between them, which is also seen in a lot of dramas where there is 4 main lead, and in the beginning, they create a love triangle to later pair them off with the extra lead.

In the case of this drama, both father figures seem to suck, and at first, I thought the mother was going to be a problem too, but she ended up being laid back. I really liked what she said, "My life isn't yours, I worked really hard to get where I am...I am the star of my life"

FINAL THOUGHTS ON THE ENDING:
Mi Joo-"We will probably never fully understand each other, right?"
Seon Gyeom- "Yes... We're different after all."
Mi Joo- "You have your world and I have mine, but we could align our worlds next to each other, couldn't we? So let's not be disappointed in each other. That's impossible to do. Instead, we'll stick to whatever is possible."

This last episode had bittersweet moments but it all got wrapped up nicely. Not everyone has the same definition of what a "Happy Ending" is supposed to look like, it's up to us to choose our happy ending. It's sad that after such a long time this phenomenal drama came to an end. Learn how to love yourself. and learn to love others.

This drama has everything, bromance, womance, a smooth storyline. You won't regret giving it a try.

Very sweet

I started watching this drama because I am a fan of daddi tang since I've seen a couple of his works and I liked them, especially in the roles he played ML. Now another reason I started this drama was that I previously saw "Put Your Head On My Shoulder" where Fair xing was the female lead and Daddi was the second male lead, so I wanted to see more of their chemistry. Now obviously if a drama isn't good I'll drop it even if I like the actor/actress, but that wasn't the case with this drama.
This drama was pure fluff. We didn't have unnecessary angst or misunderstanding that lasted for episodes. Their chemistry was also very good. The ending was one of the best endings I've seen for a Chinese drama.

Definitely recommend watching, you won't regret

Like many people have said for those who have little experience with lakorns might find this disappointing but for us who have more experience with them, this show wasn't as frustrating as some of those out there. For starters yes there is an evil character who tries to mess with the lives of the leads but what series doesn't have that cliche. Our two leads didn't have any big misunderstanding because they saw the true colors of the evil character and they were careful. We also don't have the cliche of one of the female lead friends falling in love with the male lead and teaming up with the bad character. I was skeptical about mint at the beginning but from start to end they kept her character loyal to Aim. We also have Mr. Natt who I thought was going to be a headache but he ended up respecting the choice of the female lead and he helped her. I won't lie and say when they first introduced Preuk(male leads half brother) I thought we were going to have another evil character since that's a cliche that happens with most lakorns and dramas in general but again I was proven wrong and he was a good character. Overall this is one of the best lakorns out there especially since they didn't include many cliches and we only had one real antagonist.

Would I rewatch? Maybe in the future, because I already know the small plot twists etc...

Do I recommend watching? Yes!!! You won't waste your time with this drama, from start to finish it was good. It's not full of fluff but we have a couple who has little to no misunderstanding in their relationship once they begin and we have wonderful supporting characters that helped them. Also for once, we don't have a weak female lead who needs saving from the male lead.

Beautifully made

Let's start with the story, right from the beginning we know who our bad guy is although our main leads still don't know. We also have our young emperor who is basically a puppet king but lets say thats due to his young age Something I liked about this story was the fact that even though our main female lead was disguising as a guy the main male lead didn't take ages to figure it out, which is very refreshing. Throughout the story there where no misunderstandings that dragged on between our main leads. They were pretty much attached to the hip and trusted each other. Then we have our second couple which were so sweet and of course our little feiyuan. I love how prince qi treated him as a friend rather than his servant. The dynamics all five of them was spectacular and they all had a solid friendship were they all trusted each other. Something I really liked was that the relationship between prince qi and the emperor was so healthy. In no moment did the king ever think his brother was trying to take the throne. Which unlike other historical dramas where there's always a toxic relationship between the brothers, it was very refreshing to see. Also we got our main leads fighting hand-in-hand, i liked how he never tried to hide anything from her or make decisions for her which is often seen in dramas. Overall the story was very relaxing and that twist at the end was really unexpected.

We also get a smart female lead that doesn't become a damsel in distress once she meets the male lead. Like I've mentioned they are both equally as smart.

Now the acting:

Sebrina Chen(Su ci/Bai Yi An)- This was the second time i see her as a main lead and from what I see she is a great actress. She portrayed Su ci very well.

Zhang Ling He(Pei Zhao / Prince Qi / Pei Yan Zhi)- I was really but really impressed in his first performance here as Prince Qi and I will definitely keep an eye our for his future dramas.

Zhang Jia Ding(Xie Bei Ming) and Wang Yi Zhe(Dong Ru Shuang)- This is the first project I see from both of them and I was very impressed with their acting.

Huang Yi(Fei Yuan)- I fell in love with his character. Despite only being 17 he was able to portray all emotions clearly and it made us the viewers fall in love with him

Andy Huang(Emperor)- Although he wasn't one of the leads I do have to comment on his incredible acting. Despite his really young age(16) he was able to portray the role of king very well.

The ost was very memorable at least for me.

Now is it worth watching? HECK YES. Like I mentioned before this story was very relaxing, you don't have to worry about big misunderstandings, or evil parents and not even second love interest for our main leads. From begging to end both prince qi and su ci were very loyal and trusted each other. They fought hand in hand along with our other 3 leads.

Enjoyable Program to Watch

I am watching the first episode raw because I don't have the patience to wait for subs. Anyways dance is a universal language. You don't need to know what they are saying because their dance speaks for them. I love the captains. A little biased towards Yibo but they all seem so fun. I am excited to see what Henry has stored for us. A lot of things seem different, probably because of the pandemic

I'll update when subs are provided and tell if my opinion changed now that I will be able to understand what they are laughing at.
Update after watching with Eng subs-

Ok so this season looks very different, not only will participants be checked but also the team captains. For the rules of the match, they are referring to Chinese chess. If you don't know Xiangqi or Chinese chess, it's a game for two players, and "unlike at western Chess, the pieces are placed on line intersections, not squares. Each player starts the game with these pieces: 1 king (or general), 2 guards (or advisors), 2 elephants (or bishops), 2 knights (or horses), 2 rooks (or chariots), 2 cannons, and 5 pawns (or soldiers)." So basically all 4 captains were given necklaces that stand for king and the captains had to give the participants of their choice a necklace that either stood for rook, knight, cannon, bishop, or guard. Later they would have to decide which participants were suitable to send for rounds of battle, which included 1v1,2v2, 3v3, and 5v5. The captains will also lead the team members in a king battle.
They also had simulated toy figures for all the contestants.
Like Yibo mentioned the method for the battle was also very fair because for each section they were letting the captains pick from people who were at the same level or had the same capacity. Also adding the fact that they were picking from blind boxes. The captains also had the chance to "lock" one contestant of their choice to be in their team.
I liked that in this season they gave each team a choreographer.

Label Battle:
First Half: Yibo vs Yixing and Henry vs Han Geng.
Second Half: Yibo vs Han Geng and Yixing vs Henry.
For this battle captains had to pick 10 contestants and split them into the 1st and 2nd half. A necklace will be given to them depending on what role suits them.
2v2-They will wear bishop or pawn
3v3- Rook, cannon, or knight
5v5- pawns

Personal thoughts on episode 1:
I was very excited to see Yibo and Bouboo on the same team again.
Bunta and Kun were so cute. My favorite choreographers.
I was so sad to see Huang xiao and George were not on the same team.
Ibuki was so cute
Ac was adorable

The captains are very well balanced (reminds me of Lay saying balance last season), they all have their charms, Han Geng is relaxed, Henry is playful, Lay is a mix of playful and relaxed and Yibo well yibo is yibo.
All I got to say is this season the captains didn't come to play.

Ep2:

Henry really surprised me. At this point what can't henry do?

Second Half:
Lay: "Keven is pretty good. But Keven's heart is not in me. Keven's heart must be with YiBo"
Nelson and Zyko wow just wow. They are really good dancers and Like Yan kai said it looked like Zyko's body ascended. It felt as if his body weight was nothing.
I cried during the dance battle between Acky san and Nelson. Acky is a phenomenal dancer and you can feel his passion. For someone that is 47, he dances like he is in his 20's.
Hilty &Bosch you can tell they have been dancing together for a long time. Their chemistry and synchronization are spectacular. I look forwards to seeing more of them.
Omg, the little kids at the end. The little b-boy blew my mind and to think he is only 6 yet has so much talent.
Favorite dancers for this episode: KenKen, Bo Zi, and Han Yun
No no no I saw YiBo crying in the preview for the next episode :(
I want to see more of Bunta, kun, and Huang Xiao.

Ep3-

Only 49 people can go to the next round
So lay balance
Jackson art
and now henry compares them to musical instruments

YiBo was probably planning to murder Lay for not voting for BouBoo. Poor YiBo was probably having a mental breakdown
AC is adorable
Xiao ming with his "perish together" music was hilarious. During that scene idk if I was laughing because of what he said or because Lays laugh was adorable.

"They were acting as a patient, but Jr. Taco is a patient himself" When I tell you I cried while laughing during his performance..
Colin's performance was really heartfelt. I agree with the judges, that kind of performance is hard to judge. When YiBo started crying I also broke down crying. It's not only dancers but I think this applies to all career-oriented people or people chasing after their dreams. Sometimes we are so focused on accomplishing our goals that we forget or don't have time to reply to our family members.

Ep4
I admire George for not giving up even tho he was injured. I was hoping to see more of Huang Xiao and George but oh well...sad that he left
Henry: "I am learning to play erhu recently"
Han Geng: "Then I am going to play the zither"
Henry: "About zither I..."
Yibo:"I can do some magic"
Yixing: "I can play drums, Chinese drums. It follows the beat"
Henry: "I can also try it"
Han Geng: "Actually, we are a band"
I love their bickering.
Huang Xiao never fails to amaze me.
Xiao Ji is hilarious since last season. He only called out because he had to use the restroom.
Acky san always gives such a good performance
Li Chunlin wow, his performance was awesome. Although the music wasn't his and the choreography was made right there and then it felt like he had practiced it already.
I get so excited every time someone I like makes it.
Xiao Jie is always so creative
Glad to see Keven made it

Cypher-
Henry: Popping
Yixing: Krump
YiBo: HipHop
Han Geng: Popping
All 4 of the captains were amazing. I can't even pick a favorite
AHHHH George came back. Thank you yixing

Ep5-
I liked how yang kai took his time to explain the song it did not only help the foreign dancers understand the story but it all brought them closer as a team. Their efforts really showed in their choreography. He is a phenomenal team leader.
Jr. Taco and Xiao Jie are both hilarious
Both Nelson and Acky-san did great performances but I preferred Nelsons
Wang YiBo-" I don't want to lose, I wan to win win win"
I am glad to see huang xiao and George on the same team again.

Ep6-
Huang Xiao and George can really understand each other very well in terms of dancing.
As always Huang xiao gives an amazing performance, this time with KenKen.
Ma Xiaolong is an amazing choreographer.
Love Xiao Ji, he is hilarious
WaiWai, Fan Fan, Boris, Tao tao, Cici, Eleven, Li Chunlin, and Bunta gave an amazing performance.
Wang Yibo never fails to amaze me. He pays attention to each dance to the point he knows their style and can say who choreographed what part.

Ep7-
YiBo made the right decision in speaking with his team and asking them about their feelings and opinion.
"When we are together in a team, we have to learn from each other, talk to each other and communicate"-YiBo
Han Geng was so thoughtful with his gifts and YiBo's gift to Yang Kai's son was so sweet.

Team BOOM(YiBo)-David, Liang Liang, Nelson, BouBoo, Hilty&Bosch, Jr. Taco, Momo Koyama, Yang Kai, Toozin

Team FKM(Han Geng)- AC, Ibuki, Zyko, Ma Xiaolong, Stone, Xiao Ji, Xiao Jie, Acky, eleven, Yu Wan, FanFan,

Team Lit Dragon(Lay)- Poppin C, George, Huang Xiao, KenKen, BoZi, Bunta, Daswitch, Mt-pop, GoGo brothers

Team Tiger Warrior (Henry)- Han Yu, Chika, Rochka,Mr. Three, G-co, Boris, Li Chunlin, WaiWai, Cici, Tao Tao,c-Lil

Sdc3Yibo: What YiBo wants YiBo gets
Sdc4 Yibo: What YiBo wants YiBo still gets
Wow, we have some great singers among the dancers, especially Ma Xiaolong.
Henry finally made his very own band with the dancers(as expected)
YiBo's magic show. I need a front-row seat to see it.
This episode was so fun, I was laughing from start to end.

For episodes 8-12 you will have to watch it yourself to know what happens *wink*

Very good drama. The plot was well written. When you start watching it might seem slow at first but the plot picks up at about episode 4 and from then on you never know who to trust. Those who you suspect are not it and if they are it's for other reasons. The real master mind gets revealed right at the end of the story and you don't meet them until the last episodes. It was really shocking. I got to say this drama kept me at my toes and it wasn't predictable like other crime mystery dramas. Also although it's not heavily focused on romance you can still see how the main leads start to care about each other. I recommend this drama. It's a happy ending and none of our loved characters die.

AMAZING

This drama was very cliche but it was done in a way where it felt refreshing. For once we didn't have over the top drama, or nasty love rivals and not even an overbearing mother. We only had our main leads creating a strong bond. Something that i loved was the fact that normally when the girl pretends to be a boy we have our male lead kept in the dark and it ends up with a lot of people knowing it but him, but in the case of this series our main male lead found out pretty quickly.

The ending was worth watching and waiting for

Our main leads definitely made this show even more worth watching. Darren chen is an amazing actor and this is the first time i see him act and let me tell you something i loved his facial expressions throughout the show. Sometimes i found myself replaying a scene just to see his expression. This is also the first time i see sebrina chen and she also blew me away with her incredible acting.

Loved the ost especially "Be there with you" by Deanna

If you're looking for something light with little to no drama then you should consider watching this amazing drama.

One of the best historicl dramas

Lets start with the story although it had some clichés, like the struggle for power within the court. We also get to see new things like a soft male lead and our tough general female lead. The roles got reversed which is something refreshing to see. Our female lead was also smart and was never a damsel in distress. We also have two loyal friends who never betray her and major character development from all of them. We got to see how our duke changed from a playboy to someone demoted to his wife. This story has to simply the best historical drama out there. I also loved how they stayed loyal to each other after they started getting along.

Beautiful love story

It was truly an amazing drama. It showed the struggles we face as teenagers with school and grades. It showed how one person can change your life.

When I first started the drama the jumps between the different timelines got me confused but after the 2nd episode I started getting the hang of it. I enjoyed how they gave us a glimpse of their married life while they were also showing us their life when they were teenagers. It made the angst tolerable especially when they parted. It gave hope that at the end they were going to end up together and live happily ever after.

It was a truly wondering well made drama that I would rewatch

Enjoyable

In my opinion this drama had a very fresh feeling to it. Although we have a few cliches here and there, like the annoying female character who is obsessed with our male lead and amnesia. We also have fresher things like for once making the female leads best friend support her not because he is in love with her but rather because they are like siblings, our female lead is very independent and for once she is also rich. Despite the happy but not enough ending i thoroughly enjoyed watching this drama. The leads relationship reminded me of the love O2O because they always trusted each other.
I also enjoyed the ost especially 心底的呼唤 Yin Ziyue/Chen Xueyan/Ro Rowan . I ended up adding it to my playlist.
I would recommend this drama if you want to see a refreshing story. Plus our actors did an amazing job.

WOW

Ive seen any similar dramas and this one is definitely one of the best. The only complain i have is that i wish it was longer. The cast was very young but they actually did an amazing job and our FM and ML had a great chemistry which made this story even more enjoyable. I loved how neither of them had a crush on each other but slowly started realizing that their feelings ran deeper than just a friendship. I also liked how we got to see their friendship with the other 3 main leads and how they all supported each other

Let me start by saying that I watched the drama before watching the movie.
After watching the movie everything felt really fast phased but that's pretty normal since its a movie and it can't be that long. Although the drama was way more detailed, I have to say that the movie was really great. Angelbaby portrayal of weiwei was really good and in a way I liked this version of weiwei better than in the drama. Now xiao nai well we all got to admit that yang yang was perfect for that role but Jing bo ran also did an excellent job playing the role of xiao nai.

Overall the movie was really great although if you haven't seen the drama or read the novel you might feel lost at times, so I would recommend either watching the drama or reading the novel first.

This review may contain spoilers
There were a few things that annoyed me about some of the characters.
Beware of small spoilers. I actually really liked the first episode and how they started with a misunderstanding and how everything got resolved little by little. I would say two of the things that most annoyed me was how the female lead left like two times throughout the show and also the ending was good but not satisfactory. Gao ya character was really something, we could of avoided so many things if she just listened to others and didn't do things how she wanted
