Can you please explain the reason why Li Wan Tang and the other non-Mr. Hart official knew they ultimately lost against Gu Pingyuan and Mr. Hart in ep 26? I'm trying to appreciate all the writer's cleverness in this scene, but know I'm missing some of it.

I absolutely adore ❤️the insights we see into the reasons why the Li father/son do the things they do and the decisions why... These are not just the usual black and white characters that we see! (*Well Li Wan Tang is still an almost 99% all black character...) 😅😅😅

Hi! 🙋‍♀️🙋‍♀️🙋‍♀️I'm a card-carrying, primarily romance drama watcher, and the director is doing an absolutely FABULOUS ❤️❤️❤️ job in providing feels and more than enough romance for enjoyment. So downvoting cannot be blamed for lack of romance...has to be another reason... I'm guessing because you have to actually use your brain (Yes, most of us romance drama watchers have one 🧠) to enjoy this type of sweeping epic drama??? Or people are just onery and have nothing better to do than downvote...

I have seen a lot of really great actors, land a lot of really great dramatic roles, but the subtle comedy bits that CX executes here as well- is a usually rare and deadly combo! 👏👏👏

This is an EPIC historical drama focused on the ML's growth with “some” romance (but definitely enough to make you enjoy watching if you are primarily geared towards romance dramas- which I am). 👍

Legend of the Magnate is perfect ♥️ if you desire EPIC historical dramas with “some” romance (but definitely enough to make you enjoy watching if you are primarily geared towards romance dramas,- which I def am). The MDL postings have been especially lively and I have enjoyed learning about that time in China’s history. The directing, costumes, attention to detail, acting, writing, dialogue and story progression have all been exceptional 👍

Glad to know that I wasn't the only one getting that questionable vibe from the novel. Gotta admit, I DO love my romances straightforward at the end and thriller/detective dramas as complicated, twisty and complex as can be... 😅😅😅

From the part I skimmed in the later part of the novel, there is a surprise stirring Gu feels when he finds out that BY is pregnant with the general's child. So first love indeed is still very powerful. I am also curious to know from full length novel readers, ML's true feelings for Chang Yu'Er. Because I couldn't easily tell from what I skimmed... Somehow in the drama I think they will end it with having the ML be solidly in love with Yu'Er.

I only skimmed the end parts of the novel, but from the parts I read- their love is definitely portrayed as being genuine
