Is this the exact same story as Our Blooming Youth? OBY was great but hope there's different elements with this one so it'll be fresh take on the story.

That's a positive even though not much happened as you mentioned as we've all been waiting for them to get more screen time. Hope it continues.

On the consort, one gossiping guy stated the new Emperor got away with it and started to explain but the other guy told him to be quiet if he didn't want to lose his life, so it looks like he did marry his father's consort and went against convention due to his clout.

They're sisters but I'm not sure who is the younger one. I also heard the gossip at the banquet that he married the previous Emperor's consort.

Unlike series that start strong and then lose steam towards the middle and end, this one starts slow and is a little boring in the beginning. I started taking notes on the cases to try to understand what was going on as I was putting it on hold after every few episodes to watch something else as it didn't grab my attention in the beginning. However, mid-way the story starts to make sense and the plot lines comes together, with the ending episodes really interesting. I'm glad I didn't give up on this one.

I find myself staying up until midnight U.S. time to catch the latest dropped episodes. This one has me hooked over all of the other offerings.

The best part is both these main ML's are still very young so we'll have them around for a long time to come.

Great series overall. One part that was a bit over the top is that the females that protected our hero on his journey had to fall head over heels in love with him and give a cringe speech at the end, "I had to hold my passion back because..." with Bai Cai present as well, lol. I wish they had a back story to explain more of who Bai Long is as she appeared to be connected to the crystal and disappearing at the end with Bai Cai in the final fight.

Agree, and with both of them having the ability to out scheme the evil characters, they are a good match.

The comedy with the 2 maids doesn't hit sometimes; however, everything with Duke Su is a hoot because of his dry delivery.

I'm on episode 29 and really like the series. It has great action and an engaging story. I think the rating suffers from a not well liked ending which many people mention. I'm not there yet, regardless, I've come to realize that a lot of the asian historical Wuxia / Xianxia dramas have messed up endings - just have to learn to use your imagination for the ending you wanted. Heck, if the writers of these series can change novel endings to their taste when the series is adapted, why can't we use our imagination to change an ending we don't like or just use the novel ending, which is different from the tv series.
