It was suprising they did both of them that way. Xiuyuan was asked if he was going to save her when she was at death's door captured in the end by her obsessed best friend and he said not, that they each had their own road to follow as he needed to focus on getting his people back to their homeland. Female lead didn't want to save his on that ice bed as too many of her comrades had died under the Demons, whom he kept protecting even after they killed many of her sect members. At that point, she felt the need to protect her remaining sect members to fight the disaster that was fated to come. It was very easy to dislike them both at moments in the series but, as you mentioned, it's only in the moment as they worked things out in the end. I do believe you were right in that he showed his love for her almost all of the series where she took an awfully long time to forgive him, which delayed her feelings for him. I'm just glad we had a happy ending with no one poisoned at the end - so sick of those poison tropes when they last the entire series, lol.

The first 60% of this series was superb which is why I slogged through the office investigation parts. High rating but wish the part about the villains was more about their evil deeds rather than trying to follow a bunch of detailed office meetings.

Yes, the script did her wrong as they set up all those stupid arcs to make the series more angsty before things get resolved. They did the male lead wrong as well when they had him betray her trust when he could have easily communicated with her all along. I think a lot of us wish the script writers wouldn't put those nonsensical tropes in their series when it's so jarring to have future episodes go totally against what has preceded, like your example of female lead deciding she'll wed her best friend. Thankfully, in the end, it all worked out. I agree with you that it was a worthy watch since it had a decent ending.

Although ZZH is unlikely to return to the costume c-dramas us fans enjoyed any time soon, he is doing well in all of his endeavors. Financially, he does not have to give a cut any longer to the former entertainment industry and is in charge of all of his different entities. Doing better than he did during his film career is the best revenge against those persons who tried to cancel him. Wishing him continued success.

Choppy in the beginning but the story starts to flesh out as it goes along. It felt like more of a Sci-Fi and magical story than a video gaming story upon which it is based. I watched without fast forwarding as there is enough action to keep it going.

I enjoyed this the second time around just as much as the first watch. Great story line, acting and no need to FF. The Duke's father role in this is a highlight, along with great acting by all. It's nice to watch so many characters that are supportive of each other to bring down the villains.

He played a great role in The First Jasmine. Glad we are going to see him in more substantial roles.

It was made a long time ago so the CGI is not what it is today; however, I enjoyed it for a stand alone side story after watching both the original Mystic Nine series, as well as the Mystic Nine part 2 in 2026.

I didn't think it could get any creepier than it already is but that sounds crazy creepy. No fast forwarding in this series. It's too good.
