I don’t think she fears falling in love. Rather she never considered love being important and doesn’t see what the fuss is all about, based on her exchange with one of the Princess. I think as she has said with Bu shilin. She does not care about personal ties, only look at personal gain (Gu Qingzhi words, but assuming Xihe is still in there she also knows nothing of love). She essentially has split personality. At this point kinda makes sense that everything is all muddled and she is neither entirely Gu Qingzhi or Shen Xihe, but a completely different person with 2 memories and sniffing super powers.
Judging by Qingzhi/Xihe exchange with Prince Xin at episode 18. She obviously cared for Prince Xin and was deeply disappointed at him for what he did. Geez this guy loves me so much but my family still got massacred. What would be different with the Crown Prince? For me makes perfect sense not to choose the Crown Prince and stop the engagement. Also the Crown Prince throwing some threats and revealing he knows about Bu Shilin was a very devious move. Total red flag. Xihe is afraid to be played by the Crown Prince. Tbh at this rate it would be much better to just marry the 6th Prince and kill him off first before he plans to murder her.
