If you are new to xianxia and watch this first, you might set the bar too high and end up being disappointed by…
In fact, I want to recommend you My Dear Brothers. It is kinda light-hearted and fast-paced with very few filler scenes and the main couple is very sweet together. I guess it'll be suited for you as your first xianxia drama. If you watch something heavy and of great length first, you might get bored. ( Want to remind you that most xianxia series have a lot of misunderstandings between the main leads or boring filler scenes that serve the purpose for having more episodes.) Okay. Back on track, MDB is low-budget drama unlike other famous xianxia dramas so they didn't use a lot of money on OSTs and costumes. The most important thing is it's not finished airing yet so I'll recommend some completed popular xianxia series that I enjoyed.
Eternal Love (As I've mentioned in another comment, this used to be my top 1 romantic xianxia drama before watching L&R. The chemistry of Yang Mi and Mark Chao was wonderful but there were a lot of filler scenes and second couple took a lot of screentime as well. Despite them, the MC's story was so beautiful so it's worth-watching.) Ashes of Love (Good for one-time watch. About two third of the story was very sad. I guess that's what made that drama beautiful? OST songs were very nice too. Plus, Deng Lun was soooo handsome there. But I hated the FL's character and love triangle there was very annoying. )
I also want to recommend Legend of Chusen. Although it didn't focus on romance, it was definitely there and the plot was interesting and it felt like wuxia drama in the most parts. As a bonus, you can find the current popular actors like Cheng Yi, Allen Ran and Yanzi as supporting characters there. BUT CGI was not good and some people think the beginning part was so slow.
The last one is Destiny of White Snake (the one with Yang Zi in it). Although the middle part was very draggy, there was chemistry between the main leads and the beginning and ending parts were amazing in terms of romance. (As it's unnecessarily very long, I won't suggest you watching it now.)
I haven't watched Ancient Love Poetry though but there are a lot of good reviews about it so you can try it as well.
M so...... worried...... what will happen will shixia travel back to modern world or the drama will end in ancient…
I'm also worried about the ending as the Chinese directors always mess up the endings if there is time travel or fantasy elements in the plot. In fact, I'm okay with whatever world the FL and ML end up in as long as they can be together like the endings in The Eternal Love series and Love Better Than Immortality. I'm just scared that SX will go back to the real world where she meets HC's doppelganger after leaving HC who she fell in love with in the xianxia world.
If anyone is interested, you can visit the official MDB douyin channel here. There are some spoilers though. (That's why I try to avoid this channel these days.) https://v.douyin.com/dTnCVLx/
I just realized 99% of Korean directors and screenwriters must be eager to add love triangles to torture the audience. I mean this is not even a romance-focused drama but they are wasting time on love triangles instead of creating slight romance between the main leads more interesting and enjoyable. Characters and screentime are wasted to do something unnecessary like this.
It'd be hard to find an excellent xianxia drama like this but Eternal Love is quite close. It used to be my top 1 xianxia series before watching this one.
The plot went serious after that but there are still some hilarious scenes and a lot of cute moments between HC…
Welcome. Studying comes first but this is definitely worth the watch. Maybe you can watch it in your free time. Trust me. HC and SX are still so sweet to ignore them. You won't disappoint😉
The plot went serious after that but there are still some hilarious scenes and a lot of cute moments between HC and SX that kept me engaged in a story. Honestly, I'm still enjoying it a lot although I like eps 1-12 more.
Out of sight out of mind. But I admit that I won't be able to wait for this one too xD Gotta watch while it airs
It's good you enjoyed the first episode. Actually, I'm on the verge of watching it as well but trying hard to divert my attention by forcing myself to continue watching other dramas. Don't know how much longer I can try to resist though lol

I kinda agree sometimes trailers don't do the entire series justice and they spoil too much. That's why I didn't dare to watch that 5-min highlight video of this drama. I'm afraid it'll have a lot of spoilers. But I really love second teaser. It was so cute and OST song is just so good. Did you watch it? As for the 1st episode, I haven't watched it yet. 2 months is just too much for me. I'm currently watching some other dramas and I'll try to hold on as much as possible. Everyone is saying 1st episode was terrific. The better it is, the worse the long wait is. So I'll try to wait at least a month or so to start it.
Welcome. I haven't watched Mouse as I heard it's quite dark and depressing. Oh and I highly recommend The Guest. I personally think The Guest is far better than Priest but you can judge by yourself by watching both later.
