This is a biased review: in no way is this a perfect drama and yet I'm still giving it 10 points. But it is educational about the relationship of love and marriage and kept me entertained all along. As a young girl who doesn't have much experience in love and certainly not in marriage but look forward to it like a dream, I think this drama really shows me how marriage works. It's certainly much more complicated but I'm happy that it breaks my fairy tale bubble.

By speaking highly of Hannah's deeds of getting plastic surgery, which is indeed courageous, this film really disgusted me. What is wrong with Hannah in the first place? Yes she is fat, excuse me for saying that. But she did sing well. all she did was getting surgery, and she earned applause by speaking up. HOWEVER, she is already pretty, which is why audiences love her in the end. I doubt would she get so many compliments if she didn't get the surgery? shooting such a film is telling you that even with talents, you will NOT be appreciated if you are ugly. You should get plastic surgery, AND THEN you would be appreciated. How sad.

Although Koreans are very explicit on the importance of having good looks, which seems superficial but is actually true in our subconscious mind, this film seems to support plastic surgury and hence downgrading women's social status.

Korean society's view on beauty is a double edged sword. On the one hand, Koreans illuminated the air headed me which used to believe in baloney such as "don't need to value appearance too much, inner beauty is important". HAHA. Bull -_- Appearance is very important.

On the other hand, this pressure to get each part of their bodies beautiful is an obsessive compulsive disorder. Reading articles that compliment female celebrities on their skinniness which elevated their beauty to qualities that viewers should ADMIRE, forcing girls to either feel like they are an unappreciated and ugly piece of $h!t or need to get surgery right away. Korean beauty standards are set in stone: pale and clear skin, big eyes with double eyelids, high noses, square shoulders in men's case...

To look at this positively, I'm thankful that Koreans made me understand that I should do whatever I can to be beautiful(I won't do plastic surgery though). Also, I'm glad that I am not a girl from Korea, and I won't be under so much pressure.

I rarely give a 10 in drama ratings. This is a 10.
You would LOVE this drama if you consider yourself as...

an outsider of the social norm
introvert
unappreciated
not the typical fallen angel with the heart of gold
sometimes cynical
value acting as well as looks of actors/ actresses
a fair person who would not let negative news of lee ji ah affect your judgment of her performance
love dramas with insights that are different from mainstream arrogant chaebol loves poor outgoing girl plots

This drama is fun, psychological, out of the norm, deep, some say dark, no entirely evil characters but rather everyone has weaknesses, and it also deals with family issues. In all, a healing drama. Aside from being irresponsible to the protagonist, Jae hee is my favourite male character out of thousands of dramas i ve watched. And did I mention the awesome kisses*_* best kisses of all dramas ??! Awesome chemistry.

There is still a chance of liking this drama without liking park si yeon, if you like dramas with thought and insight.

From a traditional and first person point of view from the female protagonist, this is not a drama one would enjoy watching just for the fun of it, because of the plot's break of norm. Since I identify with the female protagonist, played by eun jung, this is not an idealistic way of ending. But it's also this ending that makes it more like a real life situation. It makes me think that if I were her and I got that close with someone I admire, it's still lucky for me. Things won't work as you wish in real life. And the Sunsaengnim character is indeed inspiring from retrospect. These are my reasons to change my rating from 6 to 8. In a country where viewership is valued the most, this is a drama with more depth to the plot and not a focus on doing unrealistic scenes that viewers would enjoy. Which man would choose eun jung in real life over park si yeon anyways??? A sad fact but true....
