He's really tying with the husband from The Double for me right now. Although, technically speaking he wasn't the 2ML in that show, the maternal cousin was...saying that "out loud" made it all the more weird. So glad we aren't marrying our first cousins anymore.
They explain it really well within the show why she is like this. Her husband protected her from all evils and she stayed ignorant of the evils of his family and the outside world. Her own son kept a lot of wrongs from her as well. I think if she's willing to change and listen to her son there is hope for her yet. Women, outside of the royal family, had little to no power at this time and her husband is dead. She trusted the wrong person and her son never corrected her thinking. She's a pushover, but she's growing a backbone thanks to her daughter-in-law and her son finally pulling the wool out of her ears and clearer her sight for the first time in her life.
She's giving Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria (RSD) and is reading like she's on the spectrum (this could very well be projection on my part). But she has a hard time reading others, she is quick to anger when she feels rejected and is more likely to cut someone out of her life than deal with a complex emotional conversation.
I'm giving the character some grace as she isn't able to see the calculations of those closest to her. Also. she even mentions that he/she were raised in an environment that made it so they were trained to hide all of their emotions. Which is probably why she has such a hard time reading romantic feelings of others. She wasn't exposed to what it is SUPPOSED to look like so she can't see it even when it's there.
She can understand backhanded talk and political intrigues because that is what she was raised around. And because she was in such a high position and feared by others in the palace they would have never dropped their mask for her i.e. her being completely in the dark about the Crown Princess/Empress(wife of her brother)'s true personality.
We're only a quarter of the way into the drama so I'm hoping for lots of self realizations and blinds being removed from her eyes when it comes to SRQ. Him getting closer to her brother should be setting off alarm bells, but she's so busy with other things at the moment it isn't taking priority.

Strong Woman Do Bong Soon, Jealousy Incarnate, Love in the Moonlight, Secret Garden, Moving are some of the only 20 plus episode dramas that I would recommend to others. There are more that I personally like, but I can see them with 20/20 and know that there are some draggy parts so I wouldn't really recommend those ones. The one kdrama that I watched that is over 50 episodes went to hell in a handbasket because the ML actor had prior commitments and they decided to extend the show by like 12 episodes close the wrap time and he had to tell them "Yeah, I'm not going to cancel my international event that fans paid for to accommodate an uncontracted filming schedule." They literally changed which character was the ML about halfway through the show....they made the villain the ML and turned a psycho killer into a golden retriever simp boy for the wife he had tried multiple times to kill and cheated on throughout the show. It was weird and I vowed never again will I waste my time on a live production drama. (aka a drama that hasn't finished filming before the episodes start airing.)

Those same people don't know what to do when the kdrama is more than 16 episodes. And now with the norm become more shows in the 8 to 12 episode range a lot of newer viewers are confused as all get out. I'm like, slow your roll there Lighting McQueen...let the people cook.
petition to change the main show photo back to https://mydramalist.com/photos/vX5Y1Z_3 cause the one they have right now just isn't given the right tone/vibe of the overall show.
like Unchained Love, the ML is a fake Eunuch. I love these short dramas ❤️
Not me scrolling through comments to see if he's actually a Eunuch or not cause...you know romance...unless this is the most epic ace love ever i was extremely confused.
The rain scene was the most memorable for me. The push and pull aspect, the seductive gazes, their faces centimetres…
They really had a no on screen fraternization with unmarried pairs in this one. Even the adulterers' kisses were blocked/edited in a way that you didn't see anything.
Yes he does which makes things interesting as he can now pursue her and be openly evil :)
Oh side question...speaking of SOKP. I haven't seen it yet and was debating whether or not to watch it while waiting for episodes of TPR to release. Should I wait until I finish TPR as the plots are very similar and have the same actor playing the ML? Or should I just dive right in? Also in SOKP is the FL the only one with her memories of her past-future?
I'm not sure what it is about the 2ML's styling, but he looks like a sickly Victorian child every time he's on screen. I don't know if it's the hair, the make-up or just the overall styling, but it's giving Wormtongue whispering in King Theoden's ear.
here you go
