I keep confusing some of the sister-in-laws(3rd & 4th) because I don't know the actresses well enough to tell them apart outside of their costumes...so when I looked up the cast list I couldn't tell who was who and keep having to go back and double check the episode and pray someone says their name and not nickname or title. djfoi ajdsoj When we got to the Yao Song part I was like oh Yao Jue has the little girl...nope...wrong actress. She's 4th SiL and has a son Lingmo. It don't help that only the eldest nephew is listed in the cast here and luckily he's listed under his mother's name as well. Production, can yall please drop the full family tree chart. Cause everyone is connected to each other. I know Xie Jiu is going to be popping back up soon with her family...all the sisters in law will pop back up. I just need better visual aids than a moody headshot with no facial expression...aka can't see anything that makes them unique to tell the difference. (By the way, for reference, I personally do better at recognizing movements of people, so still shots of people I don't know well are extremely hard for me to identify. My vision is that of an impressionist painting without my glasses.)
Watched the first 6 episodes and so far I'm enjoying the storyline, the back story has been established and now…
a handful of people left 1star reviews on all 40 episodes prior to them airing. As 99% of people who watch the show are only rating as the episodes air the score will remain low for a while. So far it's a solid 8 for me, for a 40 episode drama. I can tell most of their budget/attention is going into the battle/fight scenes. Also the show was listed as a rebirth drama because that is what happens in the novel, but because of the censorship rules the production team just discarded that plot altogether, which apparently pissed some people off. Like Yue said, there are a few shows airing at the moment that I've noticed have actors who have, lets just say, very active fans.
To add another comment, It's already good that the sister in laws were allowed to leave the family after their…
Also because the child is considered the father's even in death. Not to mention bringing a child into a new marriage wouldn't be easy for the child. Think of what happens to half siblings even within the same paternal line. Every family is different, but at least the Wei wives know that their kids would be well loved in the Wei household. I don't say safe, as that is never a guaranty, but cared for and protected none the less.
Iโm older and Iโm also dissapointed in it after 13 episodes. Itโs just poorly executed.
I can understand not liking a show. What I can't understand is rating it before it has even aired the episode. I can't tell how many of the 11 users were dropping 1 star reviews on the episode page but enough to make the average rating a 4 out of 10. currently episodes 24-40 have a score of 3.3 stars which is just dumb. MDL needs to stop allowing episodes that have yet to air to get reviewed. I just need the people who dislike the show to drop it and move on with their life. There is so much to watch out there. I don't get why someone would want to waste their time to this degree on something they dislike.
wow 7.9. is it that bad? or is it like the double that rose later?
Always look at the stats as well as the episode & review page to see if there is a pattern. Currently the under 25s are dragging the score down. Also someone or multiple people took it upon themselves to review bomb episodes that haven't even aired yet. While a show is airing is when you can clearly see false reviews or sabotage from anti fans. It's a weird hobby some people have apparently.
Why did someone change the poster on the show page? what in the bad lighting is happening here? Seriously someone change it back, as a photographer I'm offended on behalf of the production team.
I'm not currently watching anymore but it's still on a list so it's in my calendar until it's complete.
Slight spoilers ahead if you haven't watched the full trailer for the show. So I'm just starting episode 12 and I'm wondering if all of these daughters and sons of generals "getting together" is going to become an issue. The Duke of Hu's kids be crushin on the Chu siblings like they don't both come from military families that shouldn't really be intermingling, at least that was the impression I got from a lot of court conversations. It was already being side-eyed when Chu Yu married into the Wei family(Marquis of Zhenguo). If i remember correctly the court doesn't like it when power is consolidated outside of the royal family. Aka military leaders having family ties can become suspicious/a threat to the Emperor. Am I right to be worried for TuanTuan?
really๐ค that's annoying. For me it's WeTv and not Tencent that I can use, but I can watch express episodes…
well it works for me. im not sure what devices youre using & what app you are mirroring you phone to your TV. but mirroring the whole phone(not just the tencent app) works with a Samsung phone & roku when using the smart view feature that comes with samsungs.
Yep. Let the adults enjoy the adult show. ๐๐ผ๐
Think of it like a popcorn Hollywood movie rather than your indie/art house/drama. Honestly I want to explain better, but im tired so my dyslexia is peak hindering me.
Depends on your type of drama preference. I think it's holding up so far. This one is already leaning heavier into Romance than other currently airing shows are. There is still humor within episodes, but they are able to portray the grief/seriousness just as well. The tone in the first episode carries over into the later episodes(so far up to ep 11) once you get past the deeply sad episodes of 3 & 4.
But also other than the children the average age of the actors in this is 30. So with more idol type dramas, which this technically falls under, I've noticed that the majority under the age of the main leads will have a more negative viewing experience. We also end up with a lot of "old hag" comments aimed at any FL over the age of 25. So in conclusion...idol drama + older cast = younger watchers not as interested/disappointed
I'm really trying to like this but it's hard getting into it
Maybe give it a few days. See if anyone has made an edit of it on Youtube to give a better overview of chemistry/character dynamics to better assess if this one is actually in fact for you. The first few episodes they are introducing a boat load of characters and also setting up a mystery/investigation plot. So it's extremely understandable to struggle to get into it if it's not something you're used to watching. Looks like you mainly stick with more fantasy driven Cdramas so dipping a toe in and finding the water isn't warm enough yet is valid.

Scroll to the bottom and see how the age groups are broken down.
