How in the hell is a backstabbing, traitorous jerk like Tae Joo better than Yoo Chan. What part of what he did…
I wholeheartedly disagree and I'm watching the show perfectly clear. You forget that the only reason Tae Joo was conspiring with that guy was because he tried to get into their offices, not because he was employed in his father's company. Yoo Chan is HEARTLESS when firing people, Tae Joo helped them. Maybe not because of the goodness in his heart, maybe he just didn't want them to kick up a fuss, which is reasonable, but definitely didn't do anything shady with any of them. His demeanor showed perfectly throughout the series that he ALWAYS had his back even when he thought Yoo Chan was out of his mind. Yoo Chan asked him at some point that if he really thought Big File was a mistake, then he'd really stop it. Tae Joo could have stopped him cause he knew it was way too risky, but HE STOOD BY HIM because he trusted him. Yoo Chan on the other never thinks about any other person, lacking empathy completely. He is seriously spoiled by everyone, especially Tae Joo. The only thing I will agree upon is his inferiority feelings when Yoo Chan wanted to protect him and he thought he was left out. That was never discussed and it's both people's fault. But other than that, he's getting everything he deserves.
And no, Bo Ra said clearly she doesn't want to leave cause it's her first job and wants to treasure it and a second later decided to abandon it for her man. At least she could have been honest to Tae Ra, cause everyone knew it. I'm not defending Tae Ra, not saying Bo Ra should have left cause yes, that is not a reason enough, but don't sell me those excuses like you believe them, girl (Bo Ra, not you). And c'mon, she followed Yoo Chan cause she likes him and doesn't want him to be sad. He could be a worthless piece of crap and she would still follow. She is loyal to him, not because of his capabilities.
By far the weakest link for me is Yoo Chan, he is coddled by everyone and only whines when things don't go his way. Tae Joo's transformation was very abrupt, I agree, but I mostly blame bad directing for that. In general he was mistreated by his own best friend. Yoo Chan might be the brains, but he has 0 charisma. He'd be useless without Tae Joo, because even if he had found other sponsors, how many would spoil him like that, please. So let's not dismiss Tae Joo's work.
Either way, we obviously just see things differently, not like we'll change each other's point of view. So have a good day!

He didn't plan this from the start. He's obviously hurt (inferior in the original version) and it's the one thing that was obvious in the original version too, he said that cause he knew it would hurt the main character the most, to know he was seen like that. In the original version, best friend was obviously dissatisfied since episode 1. They built on that since then with every comment on being 2nd, being less, etc. You could see he was a psychopath from miles away and even the fact that liked the main girl, was mostly due to hurt the main character too and way less that he actually liked her. In general the original version barely had any true romance apart from the ending, so best friend's interest seemed really shallow.
In this version, best friend is by far the best character. He stood by the main character's side AT ALL TIMES. He was straightforward and honest each and every time, because he truly believed in him. He was like that for more than half the series. He even asked him one last time about the main girl and what did Yoo Chan do next after giving him his blessings? Take her home and let her cry on his shoulder, while he was still dating his sister, who he barely cared at all. I really dislike Yoo Chan's character in this version, because he keeps making all the wrong decisions while everyone is literally spoiling him and then just whine like the world owes him something. Oguri was nothing like him and which was why it was obvious that everything was best friend's fault cause he just felt less. Here you can see how mistreated best friend was on every level.
The sad part is that after changing this story to have its own spin, they suddenly turned to the original way too abruptly, cause best friend just took a 180 turn out of nowhere and that was sad. Tae Ra broke up with him and later he came by his home like nothing had happened only because in the original there was a scene with that kiss while the phone rang :'D Terrible directing that.
I do agree that Tae Ra sucks in this version. In the original she was the coolest character who was VERY upfront and not shady at all.
The only other thing I regret is the main girl. She was almost unnecessary in the original, but she annoys me way more in this version. The one thing Tae Ra was almost reasonable about was asking her to leave the company because she couldn't stand seeing her all the time next to her boyfriend and she would help her find a good replacement. Then, main girl tried to sound all high and mighty "I would leave if it was a work problem, but leaving because of your feelings? No. I like this job very much because it's my first job and I want to treasure it." And her next words when it comes up? "If you leave Yoo Chan, I'll be leaving with you!" GREAT PRIDE IN YOUR JOB, MAIN GIRL. *rolls eyes*
Dunno if Suho is a generally good actor, but he kinda sucks in this. It doesn't help I compare him against Oguri who is a real actor and not a side job to his idol career. However, the problems are various. I guess the reason I liked the original version was because while Oguri was a selfish genius, he really cared about things and most of the things that happened to him weren't really his own fault. Even if we say this is a romance drama, the heavy focus is what happens on the male main character. Romance is way mor prevalent in this version, but still. I couldn't care less about Suho and most of his misfortunes are his own fault. I'm definitely on his best friend's side. Also too bad to see that his sister (who was best chara by far in the original) is so annoying in this version, though ok, not entirely her fault. Best friend is best chara in this version, though lately he's getting mistreated :<
