I had another thought, too. Where is Jae Yi's adopted brother? If Jae Yi was pretending to be her brother when she was investigating, who was getting the credit for it? He is the one who told the authorities that Jae Yi had poisoned her family. If he had been taking credit for it (with the permission of the father) , then the marriage might cause problems for him in that she would not be able to continue and he could become exposed. I wonder who the real father is? Of course, the brother could be innocent or he could have been duped. We'll have to wait and see.

Your comment about Seong On being in league with the king crossed my mind too but it is too early to say. The king's motive, if it is so, seems straightforward but I get the impression that Seong On hates the CP. Perhaps he blames him for something else which we are yet to discover?

No, from the conversations which take place between the queen and her uncle, the queen is unlikely to be the mother of the CP. (I could be wrong as I was multi-tasking whilst I was watching it. I'm not so sure. I don't know yet about the female lead, but I have a feeling that the crown prince is definitely not safe from his BF. Of course, the writers could be making us suspect him to mislead us.

This is just a thought but, based on what I have seen thus far, I think that the best friend could have already turned on the prince - but we have yet to see why. It could just be the writers trying to trick us.

That's ok. I tend to watch dramanice when more recent episodes are not yet available elsewhere. Bear in mind that Viki might also have manual subs for dramas which only have auto subs on Dramanice / Dramacool, etc.

As a FEMALE academic, I would be interested in knowing why you think that cross-dressing, especially when used in HISTORICAL dramas, is stupid. If you do not like this particular trope, then just say so. Also, as I am inclined to think that your use of the word 'stupid' is not intended as constructive criticism of a literary motif but is a throw-away adjective used incorrectly as a slur, I will not assume that your comment was intended to be chauvinistic.

I wonder where you are watching it. There are many dramas that I will not watch because they have extremely bad auto subs. But Ye Cheng on Yoyo English Channel has manual subs that are no worse (imo) than most dramas. You are not the first person to complain about the subs. I do not understand this. What am I missing? What is so bad about them? Constructive comments please.

Thank you for your timely and comprehensive reply. Although I watch many historical/costume dramas I do not think of my self as a 'fan' and I do not usually concern myself with the world of fandom. This is why I don't know anything about such matters.
