Does anyone have a recommendation that carries the same emotional depth as this drama?
Yes. Even better.
1) Signal*(2015)-
based on real cold cases in Korea, including the Hwaseong serial murders. It is one of the best-written Korean thrillers and won the Baeksang Arts Awards for Best Drama, Best Actress, and Best Screenplay in 2016. This drama set my standards incredibly high for directing, acting, and storytelling.
2) Through the darkness -
Drama based on real serial killers and based on real life investigations of korea's first criminal profiler.
real psychological profiling tactics used by Kwon Il-yong.
Every line of dialogue was a psychological probe into behavioral patterns, cognitive distortions, and signature motivations.

3)Partners For justice
4)Beyond Evil
5)Flower of evil
6)Tunnel
7)Voice 1
8) Blind

The killer in the Hwaseong serial murders was finally identified in 2019. Because of this, it became the first drama made after the real killer was caught.

For people who liked this drama, please watch these two shows if you still didn't. They are masterpieces of South Korean crime thrillers and are critically acclaimed.

*Signal* (2015) is a drama based on real cold cases from South Korea, including the Hwaseong serial murders. It is one of the best-written Korean thrillers and won the Baeksang Arts Awards for Best Drama, Best Actress, and Best Screenplay in 2016. You should also watch *Through the Darkness*. It is based on the real life of South Korea's first criminal profiler, and excellent acting by Kim Nam-gil.

These other dramas are also great guys. Don't miss them if you like crime, thriller, and mystery shows:

He is very talented actor. Handsome too. When considering his acting capacity and talent i still feel korea is not getting proper use of him enough. Give him a main role. That csn show case his acting and charisma. He will nail it. And surely get a beaksang award too. I mean in every drama his acting surpasses other actors even the main actors. It is such a waste of talent.

It is because it is a soup opera or Makjang type drama . This genere of dramas are lik e this. So unrealisticly dramatic characters are not complex vilons are too bad and m characters are too good. We are like modern melodramas and other generes so i think we can not easily watch this kind of plots. But i think it is how it is for this particular genere.

I first saw him in chimera. Then while watching mouse i could n't believe that he is the same actor. He is such a talented actor portrait well very defferent persanilities. In chimera he is descent well mannered handsome looking person. Mouse drama he is very different. He deserve more main characters in dramas. It is waste of talent

He looks even younger in Karma (2025) compared to Mouse (2021). What an amazing actor !!!
I think it is make up in mouse make him suit the character. Did you watch the "chemera " another crime serial killer drama that he is main character. That character suit him best

Review Heo's Diner
I agree. I couldnt believe that how can this female character be so unrealisticaly stupid. But it is not the problem of her acting. the actress doing great with acting but script writter and director made her a unbelievably stupid person.

It is just so sad see him still not getting any main roles. He deserve more main roles. Why?? Lot of directors now a days seems to get actors who already have a name in industry for their roles rather thanb they match the character or not aiming just popularity

This is a great drama. No wonder it is written by writer of it is ok not to be ok drama.
This drama made me very emotional, after a long time i watched this kind of succcesful drama in that aspect. It is very funny and sad at the same time.
With emotional depth and incredible acting from all the actors specialy woo do hwan Lee Yoo-mi s acting are praised by lot and made it very relatable.
I wonder why they named this drama as only romcom. It is mix with life aspect
It's not your typical rom-com, and it offers a more nuanced and complex look at love and relationships.

It's a drama that lingers in your thoughts long after you watched it.
It avoids cliched plot devices and predictable character arcs, providing a more authentic and engaging viewing experience.

As person who appreciate unconventional storytelling and complex characters i love this drama so much. offers a more grounded and realistic portrayal of human relationships, friendship ,love ,loss and family. The characters' interactions feel genuine and relatable, making it easy to connect with their stories.

While there were lot of popular dramas that got high ranking of charts and websites recently which often rely on exaggerated plots and melodramatic unrealistic and cringe story lines, Mr. Plankton offers a more grounded and realistic approach.

Even though it is was very sad ending 😢, this realistic Ending made the drama more quality work rather than a tidy and idealized resolution. This departure from conventional happy endings resonates with viewers who appreciate a more grounded approach to storytelling.

And also, cinematography in is stunning 😍.
It captures the beauty of the Korean countrysides and the city of Seoul.
If you're looking for a K-drama that will make you laugh, cry, and think, Mr. Plankton is definitely worth checking out.
This drama shines brighter than lot of dramas that were merely popular but lack quality.
