From a Western perspective you can't think of many things? C'mon, you can't be this discounted from reality. For…
I never claimed that you claimed anything, even though you did actually claim at least half a dozen different things. Anyway, whether you realise it or not, your comment clearly implied that I must be insisting that living in 1970s communistic China was THE single worse thing anyone could experience. Otherwise it makes no sense to attempt to rebut my opinion by providing a couple of examples of things that were worse. I hope your grasp on the English language is sufficient that you understand that the phrase "I can't think of many things worse …" does not contradict the phrase "I can think of SOME things worse …".

Your insistence on interpreting obvious hyperbole as literal is unjustified and unreasonable. But even my hyperbolic comment did NOT claim that there has never been anything worse than living in communistic China in the 1970s. So, you've created a big fat strawman just so you can punch it and feel good about yourself.
Anyone else notice at the very start of episode 14 when Cha Cha Ung was filming his skin care commercial, that Kang A Reum (who is a GHOST) is captured by the camera, as we can see on the monitor used by the director.
The premise of this drama had so much potential. But sadly, it didn't come anywhere close to fulfilling it. If you are mad GL drama fan, then watch it. If you're not, then I'd suggest you give it a miss, because honestly, it just isn't that good.
An enjoyable slice of life drama set in the 1970s. I thought the beginning and ending episodes were very good, but some of the middle episodes dragged a bit. But still I would recommend it to anyone who likes this sort of drama.
My biggest takeaway from this drama is just how oppressive and unpleasant the Communistic regime was back then. People were locked up or sent to a "re-education" camp for the for heinous crimes of owning the wrong book, selling a roasted sweet potato or expressing an "incorrect" opinion. Ability and merit are secondary considerations to politics, as leaders control almost every aspect of people's lives. It just seems terribly oppressive.
This plot had potential, but the writing wasn't great. The pacing was inconsistent and there were several plot holes big enough to fly the Death Star through. The production quality was generally good, but there were some sound issues in the earlier episodes. The acting from the actors playing the main characters was OK, especially considering they were inexperienced rookie actors. The main villain (Ran's Mother) was a bit of a two dimensional character and the actress playing her overacted in almost every scene. Having just pointed out all of those negatives, I still enjoyed the drama and I would still recommend it to fans of GL dramas. Just remember to switch off your brain and keep your expectations low, and you'll probably enjoy it. I should mention one positive regarding this drama. The lead actresses have excellent chemistry and their kissing scenes are some of the best I've seen in a Thai GL. I think the currently MDL score of 7/10 is fair.
You gotta understand that in most countries in the world, the age of consent is around 15/16, and the only reason…
You don't get to just change the definition of a word just to fit your narrative. The word means what it means. Dictionaries exist. You've used the word (incorrectly) for a single reason - its shock value. I have no problem at all with you commenting on, or even criticising drama subplots that you consider problematic or even offensive. If that is all you did, I would be perfectly fine with your comment. However, I have a very big problem when you go further to insult people you have never met for being "apologists" or "supporters" of paedophilia simply because they watched a show that contains an inappropriate (but NOT paedophilic) relationship . You watched and seemed to enjoy "Harmony Secret". That must mean that you are a supporter and apologist for corporate espionage, right? You've surely watched a movie at some point that contained a murder. Obviously that must mean that you a supporter and apologist for murder, right? Accusing a person of supporting something in real life because they happen to watch a drama that contains that thing is … how should I put it … its pretty weird dude.
I quite enjoyed this drama. The story was interesting and the production quality was very good. Sure, there were things I thought could have been done better (like there is in literally every drama I've watched), but I've learned to just enjoy a drama for what it is rather than focussing any perceived weaknesses. I thought "The Water" was a little bit better than "The Earth", and I'm hoping "The Air" and "The Fire" continue this upwards trend in quality. Lastly, I want to compliment both Engfa Waraha and Charlotte Austin for their growth as actors. I first saw them in "Show Me Love" in which their acting reflected their inexperience. In the last four years, both have developed into quite competent actors.
