I'm only 6 episodes in, and I'm really enjoying this drama. It's such an easy watch, and the chemistry between the leads is off the charts. My only issue is the bullshit pseudoscientific "treatments", but I suppose that is what the skip button is for.
I'm guessing you don't watch a lot of Chinese dramas?
While I believe about three quarters of the dramas I've watched would have been better with a reduced episode count, when I do find a drama I really enjoy, I appreciate the higher episode count. For some of these dramas, I wished there were even more episodes.
It is interesting that you mentioned Melancholia. I tried so hard to like it, but finally had to bail. You may…
"My Mister" is a masterpiece. It is the first drama I ever scored a perfect 10/10. To this day, I only have 3 dramas that I've scored a perfect 10/10 - two of which star IU (Check my list if you want). "Secret Love Affair" is also a brilliant drama. I scored it 9/10. It's low MDL score is, at least in part, due to MDL morality warriors review bombing it due to the title containing the word "affair". I also enjoyed "Melancholia", but I rate it lower than MM or SLA. I scored "Melancholia" 8/10, which for me means it is a good drama, but not a great drama.
MDL ratings are never trusted..! they purposefully Boast crappy dramas with highest rating spikes and Gives a…
My experience is the exact opposite of yours. I find MDL ratings usually very accurate. There are some exceptions of course. For example, the drama "Secret Love Affair" is absolutely brilliant, but currently has an MDL rating of only 7.7, largely I suspect due to the word "Affair" being in the title, causing morality warriors to review bomb it without even watching it.
I wouldn't use the word "sad". There were frustrating things that happened, but in the end of the last episode, the two leads got together. The ending was quite nice, but I found it too little, too late to compensate me for the angst that happened before it.
This is just my opinion of course, but I absolutely loved this drama. Even though I only scored it 8/10, it is…
The very last scene of the very last episode shows them both in the future (perhaps 20 years in the future) still very much in love. They use different actors for the older Nueng and Anueng, which is initially confusing if you're not expecting it.
This is just my opinion of course, but I absolutely loved this drama. Even though I only scored it 8/10, it is…
Anueng does have that whiney voice in the early episodes, but she does act more maturely as the series goes on - especially in season 2. But their gap in age, life experience etc are central to the plot, and Nueng struggles with it, as does Anueng's family (there is a BIG twist with regards to Anueng's family which I won't spoil here). Nueng repeatedly pushes Anueng away, but eventually, Anueng wins and love wins. I want to add one more comment which is slighly spoilery, so I'll put it below as a spoiler.
im not too sure about this age gap... is it really worth it??
This is just my opinion of course, but I absolutely loved this drama. Even though I only scored it 8/10, it is my all time favourite drama, out of the 200+ that I have watched. But if the age gap is a problem for you, then just skip this one, because the age gap is absolutely central to the story. Of course, you could always start watching it, and if you decide its not for you, then just drop it.

These things happened in the original Chinese drama, which I found to be problematic: 1.) The ML kissed the FL while she was sleeping, and BEFORE they were a couple. This was creepy. 2.) The ML clamped the FL's face with his hands and non-concensually kissed the FL on the mouth (again, BEFORE they were a couple), which the FL found uncomfotable and embarrassing, causing her to run out of the apartment after it happened. This showed the ML did not respect the FL. 3.) The ML once AGAIN clamped the FL's face with his hands, but this time he aggressively kissed the FL on the mouth in front of his mother as a display to his mother. Even though the ML and FL were are a couple at this time, it was very clear that the FL was extremely unconfortable when this happened. This again showed that the ML did not respect the FL. Kissing your partner should be to show affection to her, not to send a message to your mother.
In far too many Chinese dramas, a female's consent appears to be optional.
I really enjoyed this drama. I actually found it slightly better than the Chinese original. It was a lighter and easier watch than the original, and I appreciated the shorter drama length, giving me a more compact and less draggy story. I also liked how more of the drama focussed on their youth, compared to the Chinese original in which most of the drama focussed on them as adults. In the Chinese original, the ML did some things that were problematic, which I've listed in the spoiler. I was very happy that these things did not happen in the Korean version. My score: 9/10.
Viki only has 40 episodes but the description says there are 46. I also feel like not everything was wrapped up.…
It's definitely 40 episodes only. Apparently when the drama was first released on broadcast TV, it was split into 46 shorter episodes. I've asked MDL to change this so it stops confusing people, but they have a STUPID rule that says the number of episodes it was originally broadcast with is the number it must show on MDL.
