Besides kill all di zi yuan clans what kind of evils deed he done?
His portrayal here makes him look like an innocent family man who gave the order to kill for the greater good. But I feel like the Marquis will be the big villain in this story etc fml I mean you can't have the FL hate her father in-law too much now right?
It's giving idol vibes because it's an idol drama lol.
I think Youku have done it because it's their intended audience which is arguably more youthful. Following the novel would've been just fine which is the reason it got so popular because people genuinely love it for what the characters represent but Youku likes to add creative liberties that are sometimes a hit and a miss! I guess we will have to wait and see.

The novel isn't like that which is why I was surprised they took that fluffy, light hearted route which is what idol dramas usually give lol I guess I was expecting too much.
The directors don't seem bad. After all he garnered huge praise for Word of Honor. And the camerawork & cinematography…
Word of Honour was good but slightly overhyped. All those things in LOA are good as those are the bare fundamentals of great visual storytelling but the pace/dialogue is what's throwing me off so far.
I don't understand Youku. It's a big business but they keep making these big blunders. They need to wake up and be realistic that they can't just keep relying on the stars to push the product, they also need to be selling a great product too.
It's like it kills C-drama directors/producers if the FL's light shines just a little bit brighter. That speech HY made in the courthouse was made by Anle, and should've stayed like that. It hits different when Anle said it.
It's starting to give idol vibes. I am just sticking around for Reba at this point! Liu Yu Ning is really giving me ML vibes so I am excited to see him in his upcoming roles.
This drama has 3 directors. I wonder how that's gonna pan out. I know its not uncommon for Western shows to have several directors based on the episodes but this is kinda new for c-dramas.
I wonder how that's gonna play out on the pace, tone, and mood of the series as it progresses. Youku should've hired the director who did A Familiar Stranger and Butterflied Lover! That director is absolutely brilliant!
The fact that the FL as a child didn't even tremble or cry after witnessing her family slaughtered but wants revenge…
In the novel, she was playful but she wasn't as deluded as the director has made her to be but rather cool and level headed. The introduction of these two characters in the drama was added in (the pirate scene) and completely unnecessary! They should've just kept it as per the novel. The massacre did nothing to convince the audience of her revenge or bring out the emotional labour that happens when one loses their family due to political unrest. The villains are laughable. The marquis does not act like someone who inspires fear and tremor. Instead he's at his wits end trying to reign in his lazy and outrageous son!
This colour looks great on her!
