Just finished watching the whole show, and I really need to warn any person thinking to watch this show, save yourself the time and trouble and skip this shipwreck, pun intended.

The whole show is a spiral with Pawinee killing, sabotaging and threatening people in order to cover up her initial attempted murder of Fahsai and her mother Dujdao. She then becomes a live-in-mistress of Ekarin, Dujdao's husband, who never cares for her and literally gives her a salary as he thinks she's a glorified servant who manages his house. This irks Pawinee as she thinks she deserves everything that Dujdao once had, but when she finds out Dujdao is still alive, she goes on a kill fest. By the end of the show, we have two murders, and 7 attempted murders perpetrated by Pawinee.

It's one of those shows that the evil person keeps getting away with covering everything up because of stupid reasons. Like literally the whole show could have ended in less than 5 episodes if Fahsai saw Ekarin's wallet when she picked it up for him. In the wallet was a photo of his daughter and his wife, Dujdao and Fahsai respectively.

This was such sloppy writing, characterization and sorry excuse of a love story also thrown into the mix. One of the worst show's I've ever watched. I skipped through the whole show fast forwarding everything as I just wanted to see the end.

The story is about a couple who is separated and then reunited, but the angst of the past separation keeps their feelings and relationship in constant agitation.

The acting was pretty decent, I love Ken's acting in pretty much anything, and as much as I like Aff due to her cuteness, I hate most of the characters she plays. It's not that she is a bad actress, but her roles are almost always mopey leads who cry multiple times during each episode, to the point where it starts to grate on you whenever her eyes tear up. Viewers can only sympathize with a character crying at critical moments, but if the characters cries constantly, it's hard to muster any sympathy. I far enjoyed the second female lead, played by Vicky. She shines as a realistic person who is hesitant about a relationship, but is willing to give it a shot as everyone around her urges her on, yet can back down when shown the reality of a situation. I far preferred her character to that of Aff's, who seemed so mary-sue that by the end of the show I did not care what happened to her.

The show drags on and on all due to miscommunication. I HATE when writers use that as the driving force of conflict between a couple, especially if the lack of communication between the main leads is over such a STUPID reason (SPOILER: in this case, there really was NO reason for Aff to hide her illness until almost the last episode). I found it ridiculous and redundant. This made the whole show drag on and on and one of the reasons why this show has no rewatch value. You will be forwarding through most of the show since the same stuff repeats over and over again.

Save yourself the time and skip watching this show .

Utter trash. Garbage writing and garbage directing. I don't blame the actors, they did their best with the s*** presented to them. Nat is the MVP, in terms of acting and in terms of getting away with everything she did.

The romance was lacklustre since all we got were forced kisses and hand dragging. The plot went nowhere post ep. 2 since the mystery (not even sure thats what I should call it) was solved so early. The 22 episodes were all filler, this show should've been max 12 episodes. The fact that we never even found out who Rin's baby daddy was (yeah yeah, they hinted that it's Cherdchai's friend, but we never really got to know) goes to show that the writer and director have zero respect for the audience.

Wasted my time watching this, thank goodness I watched it in x2 speed and even then fast forwarded through the show. Honestly don't understand why producers are still pouring money into this type of garbage and giving these types of scripts a chance to air. I'll be taking note of the director and writer for this show in order to blacklist them.

For a show based on revenge, the reason behind the revenge was lacklustre

Wow, never thought I would say this, but BigM is actually worse in terms of acting than Hana. She has improved so much since I last saw her.

Lets get the good out of the way first, I really loved the FL in this show. She was sincere and very practical. Only downside is how stupid she was about a certain person who she apparently grew up with but can't recognize? Another thing I found really annoying was that she is a jewelry designer, but does nothing for her company the whole show (aside from that one event held at her family home). It felt like such a wasted opportunity to give the FL some agency outside of her relationship with the ML, but thats a minor gripe. Overall, I liked her direct character.

Second thing I LOVED about this show was the skinship. It was sizzling!!! I don't think I've seen an asian show with this much skinship between the leads. It's usually hinted at or shown glimpses of, but never so explicit. Kudos to them for actually showing a healthy physical relationship where the girl isn't a mannequin with her eyes popping open like she's a deer facing a cars headlights.

Now, for the bad bits. It was really difficult to sit through this lakorn. I really wanted to like this one as I usually enjoy revenge plots that make me sob tears for the poor FL. However, the premise for revenge has to have some legs for me to believe that the ML must act that way. In this lakorn, the premise is soooo lame and stupid. You would never think a grown man is playing out his revenge fantasies because a women dumped him? I fail to fathom how in 2022 these types of regressive male ego trips are being given any sort of platform? How do you spend months with a person, then you see them say one bad thing about you and you just walk away and mope without confronting said person you were just about to propose to? I'm sorry, but if I was the girl in the situation, I would thank God for having dodged the bullet of fragile male ego. Sichon is one of those guys who will believe any Tom, Dick and Harry before he believe's the women he claims to love despite her sticking with him, giving him moral support as well as solving pretty much all his problems in his time of need. This is poor writing and pretty much ruined the show for me. Revenge plots are heavily grounded by the reason for revenge. In this show, I couldn't get behind the pathetic ML. He just came off as a loser who couldn't just ask the girl why she said those things before plotting to destroy her life?

Anywho, I think the show had a pretty poor start. I actually started becoming invested in the side story about the farm more than the revenge plot being enacted by the ML. It also doesn't help that the ML, BigM is a below average actor. Hana's acting was actually surprising in this as I usually find her pretty bland, but compared to BigM, she seemed way more animated. It also helps that she is one of the best looking young Thai actresses (I also loved most of her outfits, the wardrobe designer for this show deserves a raise!).

Lastly, I don't see many people mentioning this, but the show had a very odd colour palette. It was a bit vignette shaded. Sometimes people were overexposed and sometimes underexposed, The colours were saturated a times and sometimes they seemed fine. I don't know if it's a stylistic choice or editing errors, but it didn't come off well and looked non-professional.

How does this lakorn have such a high rating?

I am seriously baffled by the high reviews for this drama. It was a train-wreck with so much nonsense that I am surprised that despite all the stupid I just watched I see people rating this so high. I seriously hate that utter crap like this gets rated so high which will lead to writers and directors thinking trivial plots and pathetic acting is okay and they will continue to make more of this garbage.

Recently, over the past few years, I have seen a serious decline in quality lakorns with solid plots and good acting. There is a rare lakorn or two every few years that I am engrossed by, but, by and large, most new lakorns are s***, and this is coming from someone who used to love lakorns even more than kdramas. I am relegated to rewatching the older lakorns now as most new lakorns are not even remotely on the same level.

I honestly don't want to write a whole essay as to why this lakorn hit so many nerves, but the long and short of it is that every single character (except for Chen and Na) were lacklustre in terms of depth. The plot was the cliche of cliches, where we have not one, but two unexpected pregnancies, all from the same guy?! The cherry on top is that the ML got shot over 3 different times and ended up in the hospital, it was at the point that when he got shot, I was literally screaming, "Again?!" Like come on, this whole drama was lazy writing. The writers cut and paste every cliche they could think of that might spice up the story. The story itself had no standing whatsoever.

Secondly, Mook, the girl who played the FL is such a low-level actress. She is super pretty, however, she can't act to save her life. Why, oh why, do directors cast people with little to no acting abilities as main leads? There were so many instances where she just stares at the camera with no expression. Beauty does not equal good acting, and I really wish that people who are her fans can understand that she is not cut out to be the main actress yet. She should study acting more, take on side roles and expand her experience through theatre or classes. At her current skills, it is so hard watching her in any sort of scene, especially scenes that require more expression and emotions.

Kem as the ML did a much better job as an actor, and I honestly enjoyed his redemption arc, and the only reason I stuck around to watch the show was to see him reunite with his kids.

I only wrote this review to counterbalance the overwhelmingly high reviews by other people. This lakorn isn't worth anyone's time honestly unless you are a huge fan someone in the show, save yourself the 15 hours.

Could have been so much better...

I was itching for a new period lakorn and was excited to watch this, however, this turned out to be such a mess!

First of all, a warning to anyone who cannot stomach animals being killed in shows, this show has a cow and a horse being killed! The horse was a pet of the ML and he actually shot the horse himself to prove to the FL that his pride is bigger than a mere pet. I hated him after that and his character could not be redeemed for me. A pet is a part of your family, it's something that you nurtured and raised and for the ML to kill it in cold blood was disgusting. The scriptwriters tried to portray him as a troubled character who has been brought up wrong (nature vs nurture being explored horribly), however, anyone with an iota of humanity would never shoot their own pet animal to prove their masculinity and pride. He apparently feels remorse after the fact, but thats too little, too late. It's like saying I shot someone dead because I was mad, I'm sorry, but at that point, being sorry just doesn't cut it. It doesn't change the fact that you are a murderer. It wasn't an accident, but an active choice and mens rea was there. You would be jailed if the entity being shot was a person.

Moreover, the ML apparently turns 360 degrees in terms of character after spending time with the FL? So, the writers want us to believe that he always had goodness. He just needed this one girl to come into his life to teach him how to be good, even though he had countless people around him (aside from his 'uncle') who actively try and remind him to be a good person. This is the bottom of the barrel for characterization. The shift is too fast and makes little to no sense. The FL on the other hand has no character growth, however her character is likeable as she's not a pushover and actually stands up for herself. The evil villains have no depth to them, they are mere caricatures of bad guys who want money above all. So in all, most characters are bland and the one character that could have been interesting turns bland at the drop of a hat after he gets to know the FL.

Also, this is a period drama, but so much of the set and even the costumes look like they would be just fine in a modern drama, The clothes look mass-produced and ready-made and so many places in the set have architecture that looks too modern. The story could have been set in the modern time and it wouldn't make one bit of a difference (DNA test, notwithstanding).

Lastly, the story had so many flaws and loopholes. So many times the characters are choking and trying to kill the FL in FRONT of other people (who are the good guys) and the characters just brush it off, like it's nothing big?? I mean, you see someone being choked and abused and you don't even question it? The lack of logic and odd reactions from the characters was so jarring, it took me out of scenes. The fact that this show is a remake and has been remade multiple times really shows it's age, but it's the writers job to update the show to fit current standards and they failed epically.

Overall, the show was well acted, but lacked a cohesive story and characterization was all over the place. The writers need to go back to the drawing board and really work on the lack of logic showcased in this lakorn.

P.S.
At the time I am writing this review, this show has a rating of 8. I think I know why writers and directors feel like it's okay to write garbage shows and storylines. People give this crap a pass and more garbage keeps getting made based on feedback that producers are receiving.

Coming from a novel reader

So, finally finished watching it and it was better than what I expected, but less than what I wanted.

My perspective is from someone who has read the novel:

They changed quite a few things between the novel and the drama, and I can understand some changes as things need to be changed sometimes for live-action, but I didn't like the changes they made to DFQC. I can stand changes to plot lines and events as long as the spirit is present, but changes to characterization should never be accepted. They made the foundation of the character interaction, and if you change that, you change the story in essence, and that what I think happened in this show. It was the story of Fairy and Devil, but not the story that was told in the novel. It felt like the watered down version of it. DFQC was pretty evil in the novel, very conniving, and I honestly LOVED that about him. Every other story I read is either about a really good guy, or a black-lotus who only treats the FL well, this is one of the few novels where we actually get a black-lotus as a ML, who is selfish and motivated by purely his own interests and they completely watered him down in the show. In the novel, Orchid is very charming but also persevering, and totally lives up to being a weed in her tenacity in trying to outwit DFQC and second guessing him all the time while trying to stay alive. I loved that dynamic between them in the novel. DFQC tried his hardest but still lost out to a flower, which made for a delightful read as it made you really root for Orchid. In the drama, I didn't have that feeling of being on edge because DFQC wasn't that mean towards her. He kind of facilitated her in everything and Orchid didn't face the immense hurdles and didn't fight tooth and nail for her life against DFCQ.

The body-switching /feelings plot was also completely abandoned by the middle of the show, whereas in the novel, Orchid uses it quite a few more times to get back at DFQC and later actually gets better at playing DFQC LOL! However, I think in the context of the drama, it made sense for them to focus more on other plots after they initially used the body switching as a means to keep the leads together. So, overall, I don't find that too much a negative.

As for the visuals in the drama, they were superb! I really have to thank the team for keeping the spirit of the world alive from the novel to the drama. I loved the effects they used and the sets were amazing. The only thing I wish they could've done better was the costuming. There were some really really good ones, like the ones for DFQC and the God of War, but I think they made Orchid into the same old white fairy like all the other Xianxia dramas. They could have played around with her flower background and given her flamboyant and colourful costumes. I would have really liked to see her in yellows, fuscia's, some bright red colours or even a dark black when she's trapped in the Moon territory and not just pasty pastels all the time. Also, can I just say that the costume for Jieli was atrociously ugly? Why? She had that costume on the entire show! I think the hairstyle was even uglier than the clothes.

Anywho, I wish I could have watched the show without comparing it to the novel as I think it was pretty good and leaps and bounds better than the garbage being pumped out these days. I just wish they had stuck to the source material a bit more to make this show even better.

Petition to ask for shows like this to be blacklisted to save mankind

Wish I could give this one a negative rating for my loss of brain cells. It must take quite a lot of hard work to make such a parody of a show that it can be used as an example of how to waste money, manpower and time (for the makers as well as people like me who are stupid enough to watch it, only redemption for me if that I at least watched in x2 speed and ff a lot during the show).

Like how did they pitch this show to producers? "It's about a crazy SnM lady who goes on a killing spree and has a kill count of 5 by the end of the show, Let's mislabel it as a revenge romance to fool unsuspecting audience and throw in good looking people to disguise plot holes bigger then the ozone gap in the 80s." I want to also ask the Producer Khun if he/she has a lot of money? I would be happy to take some off your hands, it's a better cause than this crap that you have invested in, you seem to like throwing money away, I am more than happy to volunteer as a recipient if it will mean that you don't 'invest' in such projects again and spare mankind from polluting more. Lets go green and save the plant!

Watch it for the side characters

I enjoyed this show, mainly because of it being a period piece and the side characters. The main storyline was kinda boring and the issues regarding Cheewa's mother were so vague, we get pieces of it here and there and I still don't understand how she became paralyzed from the legs down, plus what the backstory about the grandfather and Cheewa's mother having to leave the city was all about? Thats poor writing on the the script end. But, as I said before, I enjoyed watching the show because of the gorgeous costumes and overall story was pretty decent.

It's a real shame that so many side characters get neglected when sometimes they shine and stand out way more than main characters who can't act at all! Case in point the female lead, she was really awkward in most of her shy and sly scenes. All we saw from her was a random smirk/smile that looked so out of place. Before the stans come after me, yes, she's super adorable and I get everyone's got to start somewhere, but why come out as a FEMALE LEAD when you're wet behind the ears? I think it's a common problem in a lot of lakorns, and I can't even blame the actors/actresses as it's the bidding of higher ups and channel heads.

The male lead on the other hand was too wishy washy playing his jackyl/hyde character and even till the last episode was so sterotypical that I honestly didn't want Cheewa to end up with him. He played along with Kade, knowing she has feelings for him and never made himself clear with Kade (he sometimes ignored her, sometimes snubbed her, but also went along with her at times and even initiated some conversations, so I actually felt bad for Kade at times). Acting wise, Porche is an old hand and didn't have any issues, it's just his characterization that bugged me to no end.

I think where this show really shines was the side characters. Anyone else totally enraptured by Jeua and Jan? Those two were scene stealers! I honestly LOVED Jeua. She was comedy gold with her candid one-liners and honest reactions to the crazy going on around her. I think the actress playing her deserves a huge nod for her portrayal of a clumsy, loose-lipped servant with a propensity for truth saying in an evil character that you don't see that often. It's sad to see that she doesn't even have a mention in the cast under dramalist.

Also, an honourable mention to Pym, who palyed Kade's mother. She is a gorgeous lady! I think she looked better than the younger cast LOL!
