I'm a Japanese-to-English translator, and I created English subtitles for the Netflix release of several Japanese shows, including:

• The New Key
• Hana-Kimi
• 99.9 Criminal Lawyer Season 2
• Ya Boy Kongming!
• OKURA: Cold Case Investigation
• Good Luck!!
• Divorce Lawyer Season 1
• The Family (Kareinaru Ichizoku)

I've been a fan of Japanese dramas and movies since pretty much the beginning of the online fanbase in the early 2000s. Back in the good old days, when people called Japanese shows “dorama” instead of “J-drama.” I still call them dorama lol.

The first dorama that really blew me away was Bayside Shakedown. I don’t remember watching any dorama before that, so it might even have been the very first one I ever saw. Either way, it was one hell of a home run to get me hooked.

As you can probably tell from my profile picture, I’m a big fan of Abe Hiroshi. He was amazing in Kekkon Dekinai Otoko. Another favorite of mine is Tumbling. It always gets me pumped up whenever I watch it.

As for Japanese movies, I tend to enjoy the more artsy, atmospheric stuff more than the big blockbusters. For me, music and atmosphere are often what make a movie hit emotionally. I don’t mind a slow movie with barely any story as long as it makes me feel something. A Scene at the Sea is a perfect example of what I mean. I love that movie.

As you can see from my stats, I drop a lot of shows and movies. I usually only commit to something if I feel like it has a chance of being an 8/10 or higher. If I think something will probably be a 7/10 or lower, I’ll only watch it if I’m really in the mood. There are more movies and shows than I’ll ever have time to watch in my life, so why waste that time on stuff I’m not enjoying?

I’ve contributed to several pages on MyDramaList, and I plan to keep helping make the site as complete as possible. I also intend to write more reviews and articles.

Feel free to check out the lists I’ve created if you want to see my favorite dramas, movies, actors, and directors. Anyone can add me as a friend or message me if you want to talk about Japanese dramas and movies.
