It's because the relationship everyone loved turned toxic. Jun always lied to Ra-ra (From episodes 1 - 16), for various reasons (and nothing was justifiable, he lied just because), and never once felt bad about it or apologised. So pretending to be dead and then walking back as if nothing happened, laughing while she cried, acting like she was overreacting and then she forgave him in two minutes... Yikes. Jun always said he was doing things for Ra-ra, but he kept actively hurting her over and over again in the name of loving her. That... is not a good relationship.

And since the basis of the show is their relationship... and the show makes it seem like every time he hurt her on purpose was no big deal... It makes sense why people rate the show lower. Ra-ra would never do to Jun what Jun did to her. She lives an honest life. Jun though... He's never honest with Ra-ra, and the way the writers wrote him, the viewers don't trust him to ever be.

And to top it all off... He has never, not once, apologised. Toxic is right.

Yeah, and it's not like they didn't have enough episodes either, since they managed to cram a cancer plot in two episodes. lol.

I loved Mystic Pop up Bar and Itaewon Class. Such good examples of great storytelling and brilliant execution. I'm hoping for the best when it comes to The Uncanny Counter. I hope it's super fun. Fingers crossed that it won't disappoint.

Right??? That entire sequence was weird. And I started losing interest after the whole stalker storyline was done.

Part of me thinks I should encourage you to finish the show, but honestly, episodes 13 - 16, they are hardly ever together. Majority of the scenes are focused on the secondary characters. It's like episodes 1 - 12 had one writer and episodes 13 - 16 had another writer dabbling in makjang. It was weird.

Netflix keeps adding so many kdramas (which is amazing), but I guess the downside is that we won't know if we like it until we complete the show.

I'm also worried about Private Lives. I'm currently on episode 7, and I keep getting interested, then losing interest only to get interested again and lose interest again.

I think episodes 1 - 12 were wonderful. Then they started going in the way of daytime soaps, adding a lot of fake outs and twists, forsaking the wonderful character of Jun. When he returned, and Ra-ra cried, he laughed and made it seem like she was overreacting. They ruined his character at the end. He was one of my favourite MLs too. :(

My thoughts exactly. They ruined the kind, gentle, considerate Jun for a plot twist!!! An unneeded plot twist, at that. The lie was longer than their relationship lol.

Ya'll... I just realised... Jun has been lying to Ra-ra from beginning to end.

1. The fact that he was DDSSLLS (Never explained why he lied about this)
2. The fact that he knew her from before (Why he lied about this, I don't know)
3. His age and the fact that he was a runaway. (This lie, I understand)
4. The building he bought etc. (The typical kdrama trope so okay)

There were so many fake outs for plot twist purposes, and just when the viewer thinks that they'll be in a healthy honest relationship...

1. He lied that he had a new girlfriend (Hurtful and unnecessary)
2. He lied that he was going abroad to study (More believable, should have stuck to this from the beginning)
3. Pretended to be dead for 5 years (Unbelievably selfish and manipulative)

And he didn't even apologise for any of it. Wow.

The writers had the chance to fix the previous lies, but they just made him lie some more.

Would we be shipping these two if there weren't any cutesy scenes between them? I wouldn't have rooted for them at all.

This drama makes it seem like all his lies are not a bad thing, but they are. Ra-ra would never do to Jun what he did to her, and therein lies the fault in their relationship.

Poor Ra-ra. She really is a sucker.

I loved this drama. Episodes 12 - 16 just made it more and more ridiculous.

Exactly. The story didn't need it and the cancer plot was totally random. I guess they needed a way to justify the fake break up... but still... Jun being forced to go to the US to study is definitely believable.

It's definitely planned well, just a bit of a mixed bag. Personally, I found the stalker, gangster and cancer storylines ill fitting in the overall style of this drama, but to each his own. They even changed the editing style and the genre of the show just to accommodate those storylines before going back to the original style of the show. It was like Ra-ra getting kidnapped was a one off. Everyone has moved on and forgotten about it, including her. Jun nearly killed a man and he was devastated for that one episode. I guess these experiences don't affect them. lol.

I think the show had enough going for it without these storylines, and without these storylines, there would be 10 - 12 episodes of Ra-ra and Jun being cute together, which I would have definitely preferred over this random thriller element that popped in for 4 episodes and disappeared suddenly.

I think so too. It was a total style and genre change in the middle. lol.
