Must have been incredibly frustrating to sign up for a role only to realize you were playing a milk toast character who really didn't have much impact on any other characters' lives in the show at all. A complete waste of a superb actor, IMO.

The rating hasn't been updated by MDL in days. It will likely drop quite a lot once they update it.

Nah, it started around Episode 9. Then rapidly downhill from there and to end in a truly dismal last episode.

Brilliant up until Episode 9. Pretty much trash from Eps 10-16, even while watching the last 6 episodes at double speed. It started out with such promise, but the writer let it all go to sh*t starting in Episode 10 and never did manage to recover. Right up to the last minute. I started out rating it a 10. Ended up rating it a 3. So disappointing. And the last episode was absolutely dire. Hard to watch, it was so cliched.

I think Netflix will eventually take over pretty much all K-dramas. In the west at least. They are investing over $2.5 billion (yep Billion) on Korean content in the next four years, so a Netflix subscription will likely become THE one to have for most Korean shows.

They will likely also eventually put some of the other K-drama streamers out of business. At least for the new shows.

Meanwhile, Amazon Prime and Disney Plus are just playing with K-dramas, but aren't serious. And I avoid Viki, as they treat their translators like crap -- including not paying them. So...

I just finished Ep 2. Bored stiff. Couldn't care less about every character. Doubt I'll continue. It's cliched and dull.

Just finished Episode 2 and this one is turning out to be my favorite drama airing at the moment. So well done, and the performances of the main cast (and supporting cast) are superb.

If you think Ep 1 is a little slow, stick with it. Everything explained in the first episode was needed to set up the drama for what comes next.

They are both in their 30s, with only 5 years between the ML and FL in real life. The FL "plays" someone who acts younger due to being back in the past and being forced to. In the present day, she is a responsible adult who works hard.

Really loving Park So Jin is in this one. Loved her in Bo Ra! Deborah. And Chun Woo Hee's performance is superb so far.

Yep, really good. Ep 1 is a bit slow, IMO, but it really gets going in Ep 2. I'm enjoying it.

Yep. Or there is a huge amount of backstory you won't understand, and so much of Season 2 and the characters' motivations won't make much sense. Neither will much of the folklore. Personally, I liked Season 1.

My Perfect Stranger airs an hour later on a different network. They are not direct competitors. So that's lucky for him :)

Yep. At this point I detest Cha more than anyone else in the series, including her husband :)

Yep. At this point, I like Sung Hee more than I like Cha Jung Suk. At least she has a personality, unlike Jung Suk who is weak and with a personality like a wet paper bag. Plus, she is the one that was initially cheated on.

I have never detested a character as much as I hate Doctor Cha. Her vile husband is bad enough, but I have zero tolerance for weak, stupid women.

That's because a sizable percentage of the South Korean audience are now watching it on Disney Plus as, Koreans, like most nationalities nowadays, move towards watching their favorite shows via streaming.

The first two seasons weren't available on Disney Plus as the service wasn't available in Korea until late 2021, long after the first two seasons of Dr. Romantic aired.

That is also why TV ratings are not as "reliable" as they used to be, as streaming services now grab a large percentage of the population everywhere.

That's also my guess why we sometimes see so-called "unpopular dramas" get renewed for a second season, as the Korean production company doesn't go by TV ratings as much anymore as they also go by how well the drama does on Disney Plus, Netflix, Viki etc.

So sure, it may have dropped in the ratings for SBS TV viewers, but it is the #1 show on Disney Plus at the moment.
