Dare I say despite this drama having some frustrating parts here and there, we might still be stuck on it because…
I always think "so far" as I have watched so many C-dramas that have either completely collapsed by Episode 20, or ended with the most idiotic events imaginable suddenly arriving out of nowhere. So you never know :)
FCY is supposed to have an HE, so it does have that going for it already. I'm just hoping the quite fast pacing doesn't markedly change, or that we don't end up with too many silly sub-plots and pointless characters that destroy the main narrative.
I don't think we will end up with any of those, as it's the same screenwriter as The Demon Hunter's Romance and A Moment But Forever, and both of those had pretty tight scripts overall. Wasn't particularly thrilled with the ending of either of those, but this one isn't supposed to be that so...
Hahahaha, you KNOW I'll probably be back tomorrow. Even if it's just to find that ONE thing about the entire drama that validates my having spent 22 1/2 HOURS watching this sh*tshow. :)
Just about the only two tropes the screenwriter hasn't used are Miyu falling off a cliff and Miyu and Ji Feng kissing underwater. And there's time for them to arrive yet :)
I just can't anymore. Already watched Episode 30 on 2x speed, slowed it down to normal speed for the "finally he's confessed scene", only to speed it back up for the re-emergence of the moronic influencer and Kevin Tan, and the beyond idiotic storyline of the "influencer being bullied" (where did the writer get her story ideas? Tik Tok?)
I should have stopped watching when Miyu and Ji Feng hit the bed and, at that point, it's a solid ending to the story.
But nooooooo -- another 8 episodes of the ML and FL backwards and forwards, backwards and forwards, Miyu trying to prove herself only to be beaten back down, the ML looking sad and defeated and on and on and on.
Who knows, I may come back to it again tomorrow like the glutton for punishment I sometimes am (ROTFL) but, Ye Gods, I wanted to slap someone by the ending of Episode 30. :)
The terrible screenwriter can't even have one second of romance without the sh*t hitting the fan again. The worst-written drama I've watched in a long time. Done with the never-ending melodrama, the weak characters, the eternal stupidity. Life is too short to waste it on 8 more episodes of this drivel.
Easy to see why Chinese viewers are rating it a 5.4 (ie: "unwatchable", as that's what it became for me).
I'm sorry but... She had to personally sort through garbage, IN THE RAIN, by herself, for what exactly? I get…
I'm giving the screenwriter some kind of pass on this as it's her first produced script. Hopefully, her second one will be far less "trope filled" and more realistic, as many of the events in this one are not.
Looking at the original premise of her story, before she got sidetracked with Trope Trash so she could drag it out to 38 episodes, I think she has the potential to eventually write something spectacularly good. Unfortunately, this script is not.
And I started out rating Epoch of Miyu as a 10/10 as the first episodes were so well-written and offered the promise of a superb drama. I am now down to a 7/10 with that ridiculous garbage dump scenario easily causing me to drop the rating further. If it doesn't collapse any further, that's likely where it will stay for me.
My rating could increase, but I have a feeling not, as the last 10 or so episodes have been pretty poorly written and, so far, at least, it hasn't redeemed itself from that.
I was thinking of Picking This oneBUT IT ABSOLUTELY REEKS OF UNHEALTHY LOVE TRIANGLE and People on Social media…
Mr. Tan is a nobody, an incidental bland guy who pops up now and again and then disappears again. She barely pays him the time of day except to make sure his hotel-staying needs are met as a paying guest, except in the last episode, and that's obviously because her decision about Tan will lead her back to the ML. Ignore social media. It's toxic.
No matter what nationality of people are commenting and, IMO, the C-drama "fandom" in China is SO incredibly toxic, you can't believe most of what these so-called "netizens" post.

Fabulous, isn't it? I normally have the attention span of a fly on cocaine when it comes to C-dramas, as I've just watched SO many of them, but I haven't been bored for a second with Fate Chooses You. So far at least.
Loving the FL's sect mate/sister. Now that's a woman who kicks ass and takes no prisoners :)
And every character in this is so interestingly painted, both by the writer and the actors playing them. What a brilliant drama so far -- 10 episodes, and not a boring second.
Same. She always needs a savior, she jumps to ridiculous lengths to "please" a guest who should have been…
That's my favorite drama in a LONG time. Binge-watched all 38 episodes in 2 1/2 days. :) Could NOT stop watching it -- every character is beautifully written and full of personality, right down to the bitchiest of secretaries. Loved them all, even the horrible ones. The chemistry between the FL and ML is superb, and every episode moves so fast.
Loved everything about it and, while I'm not sure I'll ever watch it 5 times (LOL), I rarely re-watch dramas but this is one I will definitely binge again. Great that it's free on YOUKU's YouTube channel as well for anyone who doesn't have a YOUKU subscription :)
I am enjoying this but the ML character is a bit of whiny petulant self absorbed man baby, who could not decide…
The ML reminds me of a guy who was apparently so interested in me that he told my parents -- but not me :) (Probably why the ML irritates me so much -- LOL).
He seemed very shocked when I up and got engaged to another man. (Not that I would have entertained him anyway, as I couldn't imagine being married to someone who has so little get-up-and-go in life they can't even tell the woman they like that they like her. Can you imagine how useless a man like that would be with any major life decision? :)
I will say, for all my bitching today, there MUST be something about this drama I'm enjoying as I'm still watching -- ROTFL. (Now roll-on tomorrow and we can finally see them get together -- HOPEFULLY!!!!! -- and that might take the edge off my annoyance even more).
Alrighty off to watch the new episodes of Fate Chooses You (Brilliant, btw) and then back to work.
y do u think the ML is balls-less ? other than not standing up for his staff EVER - is it because he hasn't confessed?
Both things. His behavior with his staff and the fact that he knows Kevin Tan is going after her, but still refuses to pursue her properly, and just backs down every time she turns him down.
Even Xue Rui is becoming annoyed with him too as in today's episode and knowing how much Ji Feng likes Miyu said "The relationship between her and Tan is almost a done deal, and you're still holding back".
Ball-less in his work behavior and ball-less in his relationships. From the previews, though, it appears he may soon be growing a pair and hallelujah to that -- ROTFL.
Agreed. Although I’m still enjoying the show and looking forward to next eps (I think mainly because I’m waiting…
I usually finish once I've hit the midway point, as too much time wasted otherwise :) And I am STILL holding out hope this will improve once the romance kicks in. And honestly, I'm not a big romance person - ie: I don't mind if a drama doesn't have it -- but I think it might make so much of this one less infuriating if all this build-up we've had for AGES actually comes to fruition :)
But, yep, you're correct, and I fully expect them to end up together too.

EDIT: Nope. No pass. Dropped. 3/10. Trash.
