Fight scenes in this are some of the most beautifully choreographed I've seen, and the ending theme is a banger. Vengo's wig is tragic but, overall, the drama is enjoyable. Especially as the leads have amazing chemistry.

The revenge is going to be soooooooo juicy :)

What's always funny though is the non-Chinese actors dramas always choose to play foreign characters, for the most part, CANNOT act :) They always stand out. And NOT for the right reasons :)

I lived in Thailand for years, and knew one American actor who is constantly in Thai dramas/films, and he was probably the only non-Thai I ever saw on film who could actually act, as he's a professionally trained actor. The rest of them are usually just foreigners living in Thailand (China etc) who respond to ads for "westerners to appear in a drama".

Got asked on the street once in Bangkok by a Thai director if I was interested in appearing in a Thai drama (knew he was legit as I was with my Thai friend, and she knew him personally). The LAST thing on the planet I would ever want to do. ROTFL.

Yep. Me too. Remember, she did have a backbone when she complained to Ji Feng after she found the ho's underwear in her husband's bed, and now she's heard exactly what those girls think about her, I doubt she'll be as nice. Interesting too, the mean one was the ONLY one that had ZERO interest in behaving like the rest of them :)

Yep. I always prefer the mean-to-my-face ones over those who suck up. You know exactly what the mean ones think about you, and so they're much easier to deal with.

You should watch her in the new drama The Epoch of Miyu -- fabulous drama, superb ensemble cast, and she's gorgeous in it.

Don't forget, the one who is always sucking up to her also took credit when Miyu took that elderly man to the hospital AND took the large bonus she got because of it. The least she could have done, if she felt bad about it, was give Miyu the bonus as it was rightfully HERS. But no. She kept it.

Yep. I think a lot of people are forgetting how difficult it can be for women in their 30s and beyond to get a job after getting divorced, and how so many get screwed over by their ex husband's like Miyu did. It's why I have always told my married friends "Make sure you ALWAYS have a separate bank account your husband doesn't know about". I've had several friends who didn't, got divorced, and suddenly found themselves tens of thousands in debt from debts their husband had racked up that they didn't know about.

As for Miyu, she went from having money and a secure life to broke, no job, nowhere to live, and with no support in the space of a few days. So she's grabbing whatever she can to make sure she doesn't end up living on the street, and when you're in that situation, you put up with a helluva lot of abuse because you have no other choice.

Yep, I think you're 100% correct that the annoying friend will eventually become the enemy. Look how he speaks to Ji Feng. He's only his "friend" because he can talk down to him like he's a servant, and JF doesn't fight back. I think he's in for a big surprise :)

It's obvious Ji Feng will turn the hotel around too. Remember, he's negotiated 10% of the hotel's shares if he's able to turn it around in a year, so it's obvious that's what he'll do. He won't get those shares if his friend takes over the hotel.

Although I also think Mi Yu's friend is going to end up with the annoying one as well -- she knows how to handle him, after all :) So, she may also be instrumental in fixing the friendship between the two guys?

Like you, loving this. Haven't enjoyed a romance drama as much as I'm enjoying this since Why Is He Still Single? (Zhu Zhu starred in that too -- probably need to check out more of her work :)

Cannot wait until she gets exactly what she deserves. It will be glorious :)

Because she's teetering on the edge. No money, her parents debt to pay off, nowhere to live if she loses her job, and nobody to support her (except for her friend, who she isn't being honest with, and the ML who can only do so much right now).

When she wanted a divorce, she thought she had a ton of money and, because of her degree, could easily get a good job. That's why she stood up for herself. Then she realized quickly, she has no money and nobody will hire someone in their mid-30s with no work experience. Except for a menial job like housekeeping. It's the same all over the world.

And now she's stuck doing what she HAS to do just to scrape a living, and so she doesn't end up living on the street.

Plus, don't forget, it's only a couple of months since she got divorced. She's trying to overcome a couple of decades of training by her parents and then her husband, who both trained her to "behave a certain way". She's not going to become a completely different person in a few weeks. Nobody does.

She'll get there eventually :)

I've been awake for 3 hours this morning, and it's been on repeat for about 2 1/2 of those hours. Listening to it now as I type :) It is just the most beautiful thing.

And it's so lovely as it sounds so damned poignant and sad but, when you read the lyrics, it's really so incredibly hopeful.

His voice is stunning, especially as he is only 26 years old. And that gorgeous cello!

I'm always amazed that more people don't listen to C-drama theme songs/insert songs. There are so many incredibly talented Chinese singers and stunningly beautiful soundtrack songs that don't make any kind of ripple outside China. Such a loss to the rest of us :)

It's, sadly, been a common thing in the drama community for years, as they're all so terrified of losing ML roles to someone younger. Which, of course, they will do at some point, as they can't be the 40-something lead man forever :)

Like you though, it weirds me out seeing these older guys that have obviously had massive amounts of cosmetic surgery/fillers/botox etc, It's bad enough with the actresses, but even worse, to me, when it's the men who do it. Just not "manly" at all, IMO, and hard to look at as they look so "plastic".

Throw in most of them are as thin as pencils, so a strong wind would blow them over and, honestly, if you met one of them on the street, you wouldn't look twice at him, and you certainly wouldn't think they were an international sex symbol. LOL.

Yep, watched Ep 10, and she's getting on my last nerve :) Waaaaay too much of a people pleaser, and can't stand up for herself at all. Until she finally snaps and starts shouting, like she did with the ML in Ep 9 :)

Still loving the drama though, and can't wait to get to the episode when she FINALLY grows a backbone. Hopefully, it will arrive sooner than later.

Hahahaha, we'll see how I feel. And no, I won't be surprised if she's as useless as always when standing up for herself.

I think too, this should not have been a 38 episode drama, which is why the writer has had to drag out Doormat Miyu for so long.

Then again, I can honestly say I have not been bored for one second so far, so it's obviously written well enough for that :)

I'll also add I'm lucky as i have a mother and father who taught me to always stand up for myself. Hence, I've never let people treat me like that. But... if you haven't been taught that, you're in alien territory and floundering badly.

Sure, it's difficult for ME to understand why she's such a doormat, as it's completely alien to how I do things, but... I have had friends who behave that way due to their parents, so I do understand to "some" extent how absolutely terrifying it must be to try to change as you don't even know where to start.

I think if we have a few more episodes of her being trodden on and allowing it, I'll be fast forwarding through a lot of it, as her being the butt of absolutely EVERYONE's nastiness is becoming a bit stale.

But, I have a feeling we're about to see her move beyond it, and start holding the vile people in her life accountable for their awfulness. (I just finished Ep 9 btw, so no idea what happens in Ep 10 yet.

Don't forget too, this is how she has been taught to live her life by her mother -- kowtowing to everyone so that there is "peace". And it's hard to break free from decades of that kind of training in just a few months. But she's starting to realize, IMO, that all that does is destroy her own life.

Not completely similar, but Why Is He Still Single? Equally brilliant, a superb cast, and it also stars Zhu Zhu, who is phenomenal in it.
