As a hotelier this drama is really hard for me to watch π€£
I worked in a small hotel in the UK for a few months when I was a teenager. If I, or anyone else, had done even one of the things this hotel's staff does several times a day, I would have been gone within minutes of doing it. :)
It's hilariously funny really how over-the-top the script in this is, especially as every problem is suddenly "MiYu's fault", and everything that goes wrong immediately becomes connected to her. Pretty bad writing overall but, surprisingly, still ridiculously good fun :) (The writer has good comedic timing, if nothing else :)
And btw, because I'm obsessed with this drama, and all the awful people in it :)
I always make a point of being grateful that I have always had parents who would literally do anything for me and, no matter if I screw up, they will ALWAYS be on my side in front of the person I screwed up with. Even if, later, they might point out my flaws in private :)
When you're like me, who has been lucky to have two amazing parents my whole life (and still, thankfully, have them and they're now in their late 80s), it's always so sad when you see so many other people who never had that luxury in life. And whose lives are immeasurably much more difficult because of it.
But I will add, when Lu Zhen Zhen gets exactly what she deserves, I won't feel sorry for her one tiny little bit. As karma has a habit of biting you in the ass when you least expect it.
All I can say about this one is I am obviously a much worse person than Miyu as there is no way I would put up…
But isn't Zhu Zhu utterly gorgeous? Those scenes were she strides magnificently into the hotel, hair flowing, wearing a stunning dress, and with a slow smile on her face -- just cinematic glory.
All I can say about this one is I am obviously a much worse person than Miyu as there is no way I would put up with the treatment she has been getting from the so-called "important" people in her life for 3 seconds. Her awful "sister", her equally awful "parents" who are never on her side but happy to take money from her (with her dad even scheming to take any divorce settlement she has), and her bastard of a husband who wouldn't know the truth if it slapped him. I would have launched ALL of them out of my life a decade before she does. :) Vile people. Every single one of them.
Just in case anyone is still looking for The Inescapable opening theme song, I posted a link below, but am now in the process of moving all my C-drama related content to my personal site, so you will no longer find it there. Here's the new link.
Just in case you are as obsessed about that ending theme song as I am, I did a little bit of research and, here's where you can listen to it, its lyrics (plus Pinyin), singer etc. And I am so bloody OBSESSED, I think I've listened to it 300 times already :)
He's starting to look like many older Asian actors who have plastic surgery to look younger, and it just makes them look, well... plastic. π He looks okay now, but let's hope he doesn't overdo it with the cosmetic surgery, eh? π
πππ I almost stopped watching it 10 minutes in as his poofy hair bothers me so much. Want to get my hand and smash it down. πAt Ep 5 though, and loving it so much
An excellent start. Three episodes in and it's immediately grabbed my attention. Zhu Zhu is so incredibly beautiful too. Loved her in Why Is He Still Single? (superb drama), and happy to see she's just as good in this. Wallace Chung is excellent, as always, and the cinematography is very pretty. Also love that it's set in Shanghai :)
Can already sense this will be one of my favorites of this year.
Checked first 2 eps. When l realize she went there from future etr l checked last ep and now lm done with it.
Don't worry. You didn't miss much. I'm on Ep 13 and am honestly beginning to doubt I'll ever finish it (been trying for 2 months). The FL is horrendously awful (acts like a 6 year old child, sounds like she's 3 years old most of the time) and the plot is going nowhere.
Loved him in Yellow Handkerchief. It was that drama that began my love of K-dramas. Pity Korean culture nowadays is so toxic and poisonous, as the entire culture continues to hound people to their deaths.
Haven't watched a drama in a while that has seen such a fall in quality between seasons. Disappointing, as Season 1 is superb.
Xiao Shun Yao is still excellent (but he always gives a solid performance, so that's to be expected), and he's doing wonders with the terrible script, but if it wasn't for him, I'd likely have dropped it by now.
Episode 19 - and we've finally found a tomb, but it's still not remotely interesting. It's like the screenwriter ran out of ideas after Season 1's script, and just threw in "constantly being chased by creepy crawlies" just for kicks. Hate this beyond measure :)
EDIT: Aaarrrggggh -- Episode 22, and literally NOTHING has happened yet.
Only watched Ep 1 before I dropped it, but I think this is even worse written than Fangs of Fortune, and that…
You may want to learn to read before commenting with stupidity, as I said I watched Episode 1 and it's badly-written. So, if the first episode, which is meant to pull the viewer in, is horribly written, chances are the rest of it isn't good either.
And no, my opinion of him and his writing isn't "based on his plagiarism accusations", but on him being found guilty of plagiarism in a court of law (TWICE -- once on appeal), and on subsequent accusations of plagiarism from a plethora of Chinese writers, and on watching several of his dramas/movies and finding his writing to be poor.
Honestly, sooooo tired of fangirls on here telling everyone else what to think and say because they're "offended" that someone else doesn't like a drama. It's the height of stupidity.
8.2 is not bad for the start, knowing that many ppl are sceptical, don't like GJM and his style, and the plot…

He's not a good writer, and has a habit of stealing his "ideas" from other much better writers (he's been found guilty of plagiarism with massive fines he had to pay at least once, with accusations of plagiarism several other times after that first big court case), so I didn't expect a lot from this writing-wise, but it's worse than I expected.
May come back to it at a later date but there are much better dramas to watch IMO (loving Pursuit of Jade, The Secret of the Lost Pearl and Love Beyond the Grave).
EDIT: And NOT rating this, as I generally don't rate dramas if I haven't watched at least 5 or 6 episodes.

Loving this drama SO much.

And yep, I'm still as obsessed with it as I was a month ago.

And yep, the hair color looks weird on him.
