Does this drama speed up its pace or not.Does everyone have to talk in such slow mo and repeat so much and take…
It's excruciating in places. One scene early on went on for over 6 minutes (I timed it) with a demon basically saying nothing for most of that time just "Blah, blah, blah".
It's that plus Cheng Xiao, who cannot act in this to save her life (facial expressions literally never change, even when she's distraught and crying), that would knock this down from a 10 to a 9 for me.
In other words, still loving it, but not those two things :)
And yep, ML and FL are what has kept me watching (and the story is interesting, and the cast other than Cheng Xiao is superb). Brilliant performances from both of them.
Hmh really give his best in here. His performance is exceptional! ๐๐Enjoy it! ๐
He is spectacular in this. His mannerisms, facial expression, the slight flick of his eyes expressing so many different emotions, the way he modulates the timber of his voice, his comedic timing, his action scenes/wire work - absolutely spectacular.
With everything he does, he makes himself appear much older than he is (still just 27 now) so that he embodies a 1,000 year old character beautifully.
It's looking very much like I'll be watching everything he's been in right after I finish this - ROTFL.
Holy Moly, this is excellent. Only on Episode 4, but it's hard not to binge all 34 episodes at once. Brilliant story, excellent cast and Hou Ming Hao is amazing.
LOL. Weird isn't it? I love every member of the cast, from the main leads right down to the supporting cast -- including some of my favorite all-time veteran actors -- and the evil Queen is doing a phenomenal job, Yook Sung Jae is great too. Even Kim Ji Hoon's performance is massively better than in Ep1.
But I just CANNOT get into it. Every episode drags interminably. I was even looking forward to EP 5 as people were saying "it's amazing". Nah. Bored.
Dropped. Life's too short. Even watching Episode 5 on double speed can't save this. The plot is all over the map, the acting is meh. Hate everything about this.
Tbh itโs the first time I knew that muscle weight more than fat. I hope this drama can introduce us to more…
"Body shaming" is the woke narrative that is now being proven as being horrendously harmful to young people, as it tends to promote being overweight, sometimes morbidly obesely so, over health.
There have even been a couple of so-called "influcencers" recently who were so ridiculously overweight but promoted for their 'body positivity' that have died due to the massive health problems caused by being obese.
If someone whitters on about "body shaming", I immediately know they're a woke lunatic that has no problem with children as young as 12 being put on puberty blockers and having their genitals cut off.
Nope, unfortunately it's going down instead of up. Chinese audience's response to this drama is not that good.…
Also, I understand the criticism of the script. In every episode, I've had to rewind to figure out who some people are and what they're trying to explain about the different factions.
Rarely have to do that in Chinese dramas, as I've watched so many of them, I'm used to how they go.

It's a shame as LSS generally turns in excellent performances, but not in this one. She's like nothing more than a pretty statue.
Must admit Leon Zhang has never been one of my favorites, but he's doing a decent job here, if a bit bland.
I think I also dislike both main characters as well as the actors' performances, so that's what's not pulling me in, as I can't empathize with either of them. Maybe if they had different actors portraying them, I would like the characters more?
Again, not a drop yet, although I do have a long way to go :), but disappointed after the first two episodes made this one look like it may be one I'm going to obsess over then EPs 3 and 4 kind of bored me.
Definitely understand it not gaining favor from Chinese viewers.
Only two episodes in so far, but this is excellent -- fast-paced, fun, an interesting plot, love the demons (more than the humans :), pretty OP and ED and decent CGI.
My only complaint is my favorite character (and actor) Huo Minghao appeared in it all too briefly. Would have preferred him as the ML as he's a bit insipid so far, but we'll see how it goes.
Will likely binge-watch the rest of the episodes today, as it's so easy to watch.

Should have watched this when it premiered -- best Cdrama I've watched in ages so far! :)
Don't know if they uploaded it later after you commented but, for everyone else, the special episode is definitely on iQIYI :)

Obviously just not for me :) Or you. :)

A real shame, as I had high hopes for this one. The plot is fun and the CGI is nicely done.
Doubt I'll drop it, as I'm enjoying it well enough, but I just wish they had chosen different actors for the leads.
