It doesn't explain her last sentence "a mother wouldn't abandon her child". Nothing is a coincidence in these dramas. I doubt she would just be saying this without meaning. But we shall see :)

But she said at the very end that "a mother wouldn't abandon her child" so I really don't think she is his mother. Makes no sense why would she hate her own son so much and not try to see him. Sons were very precious in this era and having two princes would be a great advantage for her. She hates him because he is not hers I believe.

That's the theory I had and she confirmed it in the last episode "A mother wouldn't abandon her child". She is definitely not his mother. Now I have a theory....I reckon that he is the Emperor's son and hence her wanting to get rid of him. Otherwise why should she feel so threatened by him.

I’ve really enjoyed the drama so far (especially the FL) but I’d really like the pace to speed up now and have the ML be introduced in court.

I actually can’t stand grandma. What a manipulative hypocrite and awful human. Also can’t stand the brother - most of the issues were caused by his stupidity and inability to keep his mouth shut.

This is ancient times - an era where people would marry total strangers so not surprising. Men and women were not free mixing that way (unless the woman is a family member or courtesan) so he probably saw their closeness as a strong sign of interest. Plus she was all over him and he is a gentleman. Also, they all describe her as the most beautiful and elegant woman. She’s been mesmerising everyone

You must be new to these types of dramas. It is a Chinese drama. Not meant to be realistic or relatable at all! It caters to thirsty women who love angst and hot chemistry. I love it :)

OMG adult viewers who complain about having to watch dramas in their room because of kids, etc. Please get a grip - dramas are not meant for kids and if you can't cope with S** then watch something more vanilla. FFS

Not everyone follows things blindly. By not supporting weird choices maybe one day directors will stop being creepy. Just support her if you want but mind your own business regarding this person’s opinion. She is making a point

Thanks for letting me know. I don’t support dramas where the pervy director casts a minor with much older men. There are plenty of 20 year old actresses who could pass for much younger. Casting an actual minor is unnecessary

She is essentially a slave...if not for him she would have been r* and killed. So marrying him would be almost impossible and an honor considering his status. He most likely wants to wait until she build herself again and is able to buy herself before sharing his feelings.

What I find interesting and refreshing about the ML is that they didn’t make his character out of touch with reality like most demon lords. He is so painfully self aware and mundane about relationships and day to day management. Like him asking her to explain herself after the hug and explaining clearly how he draws the line with his staff. He is much less naive than the FL.

He is amazing and their chemistry is incredible

They are obviously not on a steep mountain if they can easily ride a horse and hunt. Have you not heard of lands surrounded by mountains?

Can we please take a moment to appreciate and applaude the makeup, hair and costume directors. This is one of the few dramas (along with SOKP) that really nails it. It is soo beautiful and detailed. No one looks like a ghost or cheap. Top tier.
