She doesn’t live in the main house as they cleaned up a separate « court » with a separate front door for her/her maid. None of her family members really care about her and the maid probably told people that she was busy preparing for the exam so it’s plausible. Also, the Duke has high security around him/his house so no one would really know what’s going on there.
